The Best Knockback Power
My favorite GTFA power is Force Bolt. 100% knockback, doesn't require any more than the base slot, and can add considerably to the survivability of a solo defender/controller/mm.

I lover knockback, but I'm going to go Power Thrust in Energy Manipulation.
Its a quick activiating status effect that takes out a Boss, available at level 1, and useable while you're mezzed!
It was a staple for my last Blaster (Wundastar - Radiation/Energy). Send the boss flying, then apply Cosmic Burst and another stun from my Energy melee arsenal and they never got a chance to fight back.
You can keep your single target immobilises!

Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!
Gale and ForceBolt are my two favorite. I'm one of those people that six slot's those two powers, and most of my AoE/Cone knockback powers with lots of procs.
it's SO satisfying when your Gale does 200dmg instead of 10dmg, and increases your recharge XD. granted that's not always the case but it happens often enough. Also Gale is my *favorite* because it's the most Windy power we have along with tornado [which i slot for recharge and dmg mostly but wish i had more slots for...] come to think of it i might go slot whirlwind now and see what it can reeeeeaaallllly do.
ForceBolt is nice because you can recharge it fast to almost perma-forcebolt XD, and again fill it with procs! and go pew-pew-pew-pew-pew-pew-pew-pew-pew-pew-pew until the target is dead from being thrown across the room.
and because i know how to use knockback well, my teams usually enjoy watching all the baddies fly into the corner
Force Bolt as mentioned a few posts ago is one of the few good KB powers when used correctly.
I do have a character who has both FB and Power Push.
H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster
CoH in WQHD
I have 3:
Hurricane. Used properly you can use it to keep mobs in a corner or as a giant leaf blower to help the tank herd - particularly with mobs that use ranged attacks in open maps.
TK Thrust from Mental Manip. or Hurl Boulder from Stone Melee. Slot for KB and see how far you can fling level 2 hellions across the lake in AP. Never gets old, especially if you six slot the power with a set of Kinetic Crash IO's. Mad fun.

I like shock wave, but then again I enjoy tossing baddies around and I'm not really all that annoyed by knock backs unless I'm herding and you scatter my pile.

I know it's not the best knockback power, but my character Super Ant loves running around a corner into a gaggle of unsuspecting enemies with Repel activated while screaming "Boooowliiiing!" And seeing the whole group blown back in every direction.
I usually only do it once per team. It's never funny after the first time.

My Energy/Energy blaster's found Energy Torrent to be really useful as a defensive move. It does decent damage against a mob, has pretty good odds of knocking them away like bowling pins without scattering them far and wide, and is available through Defiance for mezzing emergencies.

Boost range is good to pair with Energy Torrent for people who think it scatters too much: from that range everything is basically traveling in the same direction.

I like torrent myself, but its not available while mezzed on Blasters. |

Power Push on a Dom and Trip Mine!
I'm sorry to be 'that guy,' but are you trying to refer to a scalpel? It still seems like a somewhat odd component to this metaphor in tandem with your use of a 'hammer,' given that there's nothing particularly piercing about launching somebody across a room with blunt force, but I found it fairly distracting from your point nonetheless.

Scalpel was a metaphor for "precise".
I would have used a sniper rifle and a B-52 carpet bombing run if I were to make the same metaphor.

I have to vote Kinetic Melee's Repulse Torrent. Nothing says, kamahemeha, like a fancy animation that sends foes flying off their feet!...What? I like grew up on DBZ, go figure.
