I was surprised when a certain meme wasn't taken as a name on Virtue...

There are a few memes that are actually funny, but they're either so obscure that no one would know that it's a meme or they're NSFW.
Either way, don't know how I feel about an event that encourages the use of memes.

I thought about it, then decided I didn't want the hassle of a DMCA complaint. It'd probably get generic'ed as well. Besides. there are no Pop-Tart costume parts.

Personally, I'm a bit tired of all these internet memes. I favor original, creative thought to the copy-paste nature of these things.
Sound kind of hard to make a costume base on Meme, it might be impossible.

And then I thought about seeing if Ceiling Cat was available and making a simple cat character which I was going to situate in the rafters/pipes of Pocket D and occasionally broadcast that "I am watching you <activity>". I wouldn't have expected to win with that one, it would have been for sheer personal amusement.
I also considered trying to put together a frog-like character with an Assault Rifle called Rolling Barrel.
And then there was the tall, slim cat-person with all the dragon-armor bits of the Dynasty set called Long Miao. Fewer people would have got that one, methinks.
In the end, though, I ended up sleeping through the contest.

Went to the 'meme' website in the first post, looked it up in Wiki (both kinds) and I have to say I still didn't get it.
The problem, I guess, is that I tend to ignore most if not all puns (seriously, is there such a good thing as a Good Pun?), and anything that I see as an attempt to subvert a statement or picture from its original meaning.
When I was looking at the memes that had been submitted to that website, I Did Not Understand Any Of Them! And I took the time to read/look at the top 100 listed. Not One Clue.
sorry, but I'm bowing out of this one.
edit: "The Cake is a lie"? never heard of that statement/comeback line.

A lot of the earlier memes were contained to a particular website and they were essentially jokes that were popular on said websites (and there were a couple of other websites that also had memes like this); however, with the explosion of those websites and the creation of newer websites, memes have devolved from being jokes to just sentences that are supposed to be inherently funny (they're not).
