Billboard in Paragon City
Lets put "Hit Space bar to jump" on the billboard :P I haven't notice them flying around in Steel, lets make them bigger. I don't think it matter what you put on them, but why not.
When are they going to change the billboards?!
Have the dev's considered selling advertising space on them? |
Also, apparently the space didn't sell to advertisers very well (I think Converse put up a few), so it was kind of a failure on both ends. One of those ideas that looks good on paper....
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
Selling birthday wishes and such in the store might not be a bad idea. Advertising other NCSoft games night not be too bad either if not overdone.
Actually, it was tried a few years ago. It... was not well-received, even though an opt-out checkbox was implemented.

The problem was only 1 or 2 advertisers ever did it. So *every single* billboard was the same for a week or two. (Some shoes. I forget the other one.)

I think the other one was Burger King. I did not opt-out of seeing the advertisements. In fact, I was looking forward to them. I thought it would be pretty cool as well as bring in some additional revenue for the game. Sadly, it just didn't work.
your = Belonging to you.
you're = Contraction meaning "You are."
Ur = The name of an ancient Mesopotamian city.
ur = This is not a word.

Ah, found the shot of the phone. TMobile Sidekick:
I love how the weathered look of the billboard carried over onto the real ads.

They have updated the bill boards from time to time. The zombie control billboard in Kingsrow is fairly new. C'ptn Krakens in Talos (above police station) and the advert for Clankets (Its a cape, Its a blanket, its a Clanket!) in Skyway are even newer.
Rockshock (Druid Tanker), Medicat (Combat Medic), Dwarf From the North (Ice Mage), Rocket Gal (Energy Blaster), Graveborn (Undead Mastermind), Streeker (Punching Speedster), Op. Sidewinder (Recluse's pet Spider)
Adverts for other NCSoft games could be cool. But I doubt they'll try to get the outside sponsors again simply because of how meh a response they got from advertisers.
But I would encourage them to hold contests every so often for more billboards like the previous one. More is good.
Actually, the vast majority of the player base was receptive to it. The devs mentioned being surprised by how FEW people turned it off.

Either way, I liked the idea and never did opt out.

Yeah but you get that with any new change, a small minority group will make a post and about a thousand comments on it about how they hate it yet the rest of the community really doesn't care or don't mind. Also intially people didn't know what the scope of the advertising would be, people were fearful that there would just be adverts in every spare space possible and it would just be a terrible intrusion to a game you have to pay for. When we were told that it would be limited to just billboards and they had to fit thematically into the game there was a far better response.
What I'd like to know is that I don't think i've seen a single billboard with an actual advertisement on it, is it still going or did it get canned? I like the idea that SGs could do a bit of advertising and stuff like that.
Only two advertisers signed onto it, they both lasted a week or two, and then nothing else happened. They're now using the billboards for the player-created billboards from the contest (last year? the year before?)

Besides, even at the best of times, the advertisement wasn't making anyone any money.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Have the dev's considered selling advertising space on them? I think a supergroup might want to put up a recruiting poster or something. Maybe Statesman is endorsing a new product. Let put some life into the city.
There could be buses with advertisements...wait where are the buses full of helpless civilians for villains to throw at heroes?
Just thinking...
