Beginning WP build.
Yes first off u went over the rule of 5 with the numas so u are not getting some of the bonus you would like from them IE the 12% reg, and the 35.14 HP for having it 3 slotted. I would replace the numa set in RttC with 3 basic heal IOs, and 1 taunt IO for more reg, and u can get better aggro from mobs with your taunt aura since it is one of the weakest in game. Trying to figure out why you went with mocking instead of perfect zinger with more reg in it unless you was trying to get the recharge bonus. I did a few changes with it got u to sc with s/l/neg/eng and some more reg. For future ref try to remember the rule of 5 where any more then 5 a set bonus do not count. I got rid of repulsing torrent since it is a KB which is kind of bad for a melee toon and added hasten to get you more recharge. But I didnt change any of your other power sets.

Damn, didn't know that about the rule of 5. Thanks much for the critique.
Warden Zeta -- Kokopella -- The Speed Trial
@Kokopelli
NP i figured that when u said u just returned not to long ago after some years. on that note glad to have you back.
If I might make a suggestion, you might try to fit some -ToHit in Rise to the Challenge. It does make a bit of a difference.
Think of it like +Defense, against enemies that are close to you (in debuff range)
Also, don't worry about +Healing as a set bonus, it does nothing for you.
You should consider putting Regenerative Tissue in Physical Perfection, in place of Numina's. As was mentioned not only are you at the rule of 5, but the base +Regen is so low from that skill, that getting the Unique in should help quite a bit more, and the set bonuses will still be useful.
Finally, just at a glance, the extra slots in Combat Jumping are kind of wasted, since you're really not getting much out of the enhancements in those slots. You could get some extra slots by removing some from the powers you have 4 slotted with LOTG, and maybe put 1 LOTG recharge in CJ.. or just the +res all.
IMO You went a little overboard on the +ACC, you might consider getting Focused Accuracy, and 6 slotting it with Gaussian's, in place of so many extra enhancements that realistically are only providing Acc. (You'd do more damage, on average, slotting the Mako's proc over the quad, and the other aspects aren't going to help you much.)
All in all not a bad first attempt at a build, and welcome back good sir.

Better off running tactics, but he would need manuevers first...and I would slot either Calibrated Accuracy or Rectified Reticle.

ULTIMATE REGEN GUIDE I22
Just a small note that the Shield Wall IO set is a PvP so may be VERY expensive (especially the +Def proc).
That being said there are now more ways to get IO sets beyond simple Merits.
Alignment Merits from completing the SSA's and 10+1 Tip Missions (not changing alignments) are a great way to get the expensive stuff.
I think you need 30 A.Merits for PvP recipes.
Each of the SSA's grant you a table of rewards including A.Merits (you have to confirm your alignment via Tip missions first though).
The first set of SSA (SSA1) has 7 missions, each of which can grant you an A.Mertis 1/week. So thats 7 of the 30.
Each SSA A.Merit is avail 1/week.
SSA2 is new so only 1 mission exists so thats 8/30 A.Merits.
Every 2 days you can do 10 Tip missions to re-confirm your alignment and get another A.Merit -so if u play 4 days a week that +2 = 10/30.
So after 3 weeks of 'grinding' you can get the recipe for one PvP IO.
You can also spent 20 Reward Merits + 50Mil INF to convert into 1 A.Merit per 20 hrs (if you have lots of R.Merits and Cash).
Most IO recipes cost 1-2 A.Merits (inc the Numi/Miracle/LotG procs).
Purples cost 20 A.Merits.
I have to agree with LSK that both FA and Tactics are a poor choice given that they are very high-end toggles and can be replaced for the most part by the Kismet +Acc. Put the Kismet in a passive or a toggle that's used all the time and you'll be good to go.
I also agree that CJ is overslotted, it doesn't need more than one or two slots and Shield Wall is extremely expensive for the benefits it provides. A couple of LotG would be better.
In addition, Fly is overslotted--it doesn't need any Fly Speed enhancement to hit the speed cap. I'd put a Winter's Gift Slow resist in the base slot and call it done, but a end red common would work as well.

One good thing about Tactics and FA is that you can slot the Gaussian Proc %BuildUp in them and they will check every 10 secs or so for the 5% chance.
I put this Proc in Tactics on my Crab during a multi-respec to keep all my IO's and checked the Combat logs after leaving my Crab at the BM for 5 mins and it fired off at least 1/min (think it was 6-7 times in that 5 min period cant remember exactly).
Not saying you should or shouldnt take either of them just some more information to be aware of

Granted, WP can handle that sort of end use better than most builds, but getting and slotting an entire power just so you can use the Gaussian's proc? Totally not worth it, IMO.
EDIT: Besides, you can put the Gaussian's proc in Power Siphon as well!

I wasnt advocating the use of such powers just providing more information.
If the build can handle the End cost and you are not losing anything needed by taking that power over another power then why not take it?
If you need to lose a needed power or there are better power options to use (even with the Proc) then take the better option.
If you cant afford the End then dont take it.
As always its up to the person playing that character and how they built the character.
We advise - they build with our without our advice.

I will, however, strongly disagree about the leadership pool: It is one of the best choices on a tanker. Tankers are teaming archetypes, and team buffs are excellent choices. If you are ever thinking of going incarnate, the leadership pool is a fantastic option, because the softcap is raised to 59 percent and there is confuse/terrorize galore. Yes, wp is one of the very few sets that protects against confuse/terror, but the rest of your team is likely to be completely vulnerable to that stuff.
Leadership rocks, naysayers.

On my flying toons (not so many) I am completely sold on afterburner, it is monster fun.
Ok, So I know you had a theme going with using fly...but personally I can't stand a tank that has fly on it. So I made a build without it lol.
-This build should be useful. Capped S,L,E,N,F,C defenses and will cap psi once u pop one purp insp.
-The S&L resistance is 70.2% and once u pop SOW ul be capped in that.
-build gives u alot more +rech than the other build had. (which ul want with concentrated strike)
-The hitpoints are at 3300+
-The regen is at 1002% with RTTC on. which should give u 130's regen, more than that in bigger mobs.
Recovery is at 279% giving u 5.27 a sec. Thats with Agility core alpha (assuming u are VIP) If u take agility off, then it will be at 4.7/s. and Def will still be capped.
Edit: you can still take fly if u want to. but u will lose alot of the recharge. Although if u take out hasten and superspeed, u can replace it with fly and hover(giving you even more def. which u will want if doing iTrials. otherwise straight up def is good enough)

I have to agree with LSK that both FA and Tactics are a poor choice given that they are very high-end toggles and can be replaced for the most part by the Kismet +Acc.
|
I take at least one or the other to slot Rectified Reticle in, and it is only toggled on when I actually NEED it to be.
I worked out a WP/Fire build that soft-caps all damage types (including Psi), has 3233 HP, and is close to 800% regen with one target in range of RttC. I posted that build in the Build Workshop in response to a post. I'll see if I can work out a similar build using KM instead of Fire Melee.
Might take me a while to get to it though, I'm pretty busy these days.

And I disagree.

As I said, given the high endurance cost and the fact that you have to take an additional power *and* use a power pool to get it, IMO it's simply not worth it for benefits you can get in another way at a much lower cost.

Wow you over slotted physical perfection, your def is way to low for reg content not to mention incarnate content. not even a good build for survivability. You over slotted most of the attacks, your taunt aura aint even going to hold much aggro, plus a a very expensive build. Your end usage is going to drain u of end real fast.
|
Most, if not all tanker secondaries have a power that can slot Rectified Reticle or Gaussian's without having to take a pool power for that purpose.
As I said, given the high endurance cost and the fact that you have to take an additional power *and* use a power pool to get it, IMO it's simply not worth it for benefits you can get in another way at a much lower cost. |
Is there a rule that says you're not allowed to slot Rectified Reticle more than once?

First of all if you will notice I have almost capped the Max Hp and with the 809% Regeneration allows this build to regen almost 120 hp/s with only 1 enemy in RttC. It has almost 79% Resist to S/L and decent defense to F/C (which there are very little enemies in this game to worry about that), soft-capped E/NE, and decent defense to Psi (which again there are very little enemies in this game to worry about that). WP Taunt aura is weaksauce to begin with which is why I also have Taunt in the build to cover that. Yes it's fairly expensive, but once again with Enhancement converters isn't nearly quite so bad if you spend the time and effort using them. My EndRec is at 4.59/s and End Use is 1.77/s which still grants you a 2.82/s EndRec, which is more than what some builds will give you. You make this out like this is the most terrible build in the world, matter of fact you do that to all of my builds that I post. Have you tried it yet? I have this almost exact identical build for my WP/SS toon and believe me it's highly survivable.

Heya tanks, I'm an old player who returned last week after 6.5 years, so bare with me. :3 I've taken my first dive into tanks and found that I really enjoy WP. So, I recently hit 35 and am working on figuring out IO sets and such, and I took my first stab at it below.
Character has power restrictions due to concept, but I was shooting for 70% S/L resist, +3200 HP, +700% Regen, 40% S/L Def, 45% E/NE Def, and lots of End recovery. Also looking for sets that were fairly cheap as I'm once again a newbie.
So the big questions. Do you folks see any major weaknesses in this as a beginning build? Also, any major waste of IO slots? Thanks for any input.
