If you weren't able to visit us for the City of Heroes Player Summit last month or if you're just wondering what we've been up to since then, you'll want to read this article by Josh Augustine at PC Gamer. Josh has images of the concept art by David "Noble Savage" Nakayama for the player-created Post-Apocalyptic costume set and updates to the player-created power set, Radiation Armor from Phil “Synapse” Zeleski!

Gamma Boost — Auto: Self, +Regen, +Recovery, +Special
Design Notes: The goal with this power is to give you what type of regeneration or recovery you need most at any given time. The scale of the bonuses change depending on your current health level: while health is high your regeneration bonus is very low, but your recovery bonus is very high. Conversely, the lower your health gets the greater the regeneration bonus, but the lower your recovery bonus.
That looks very interesting!

Edit: As it stands it seems to be a set focused on absorb/resis/regen which depending on the numbers could make it pretty darn amazing or "meh", im leaning towards amazing at the moment!

A Kings Row revamp needs to include perma-night or perma-rain - or even both, just to let everyone know that it's out Gotham

Sweeping away the old KR contacts and content to Ouroboros would also let them create new arcs that would bridge the new Atlas Park content with the newer Steel Canyon content, or possibly even Faultline if they bump the KR level range to 5-15.

I hope radiation melee is also in the works for those of us that value synergy. Got some sets out there that currently lack this.

For example:
Sonic blast on a blaster but no sonic manipulation
Energy assault on a dominator but no energy control set

Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.

Resists, Regen, Recovery and +rech? I'll be interested to see how this winds up getting balanced.

What's "absorb"? I don't recall this mechanic

I hope the revamped KR has rooftops similar to those found in Mercy and Cap. There's large parts of those zones that can be traveled by rooftop. Daredevil, Batman, Spiderman and the TMNT, not to mention dozens of other superheroes did all their traveling by rooftop. There is no place in Paragon that really manages to capture that experience.

It's a HP shield basically. If you have 300 HP and 50 Absorb, incoming damage would be applied to the absorb first and any leftover damage is applied to your HP. A shotgun blast that does 75pts of damage would wipe out your Absorb and leave you at 275 HP.

If my understanding of this new mechanic is correct

Ninja run helps with that, but yeah, I'd like to see that too.

And the building/resturant the Furies own and live in. That needs to get put in there, especially with all the Well lore going around now.

I'm not opposed to that either if it's done right, to be honest.

I couldn't agree more.

And if it had perma-night, perma-rain and a lot of neon signs using the new glow tech, they could make a fortune selling tokens via the Paragon Market to unlock rooftop brooding areas for vigilantes.

No. No, it really doesn't need that at all.

Keep Kings Row in the Paragon City real world and please don't make it the darkity dark we're going to copy DC's Gotham now with this part of the city.
Keep true to the legacy we have here. It's a friggin' good legacy.
Many of us love Kings Row as it is. I often see it cited as a player's favorite and their character's home patrol city. That's not because they wish it was always night and/or raining.
It's mostly because it represents a realistic tougher section of the city. It's not just for bad guys... it's a place my old grandma still lives and refuses to ever leave, no matter how bad the neighborhood gets. There are still good people there. It's not a fantasy setting for orcs and darkity dark rainy world.
It's Brooklyn or Queens.
It's the Row... not Gotham.

Ground Zero — PBAoE, High DMG(Energy/Toxic), Self Rez, Special
Design Notes: This power will deal a high amount of damage to nearby foes. You can also use this power to revive yourself if you have been defeated. Ground Zero has a very long recharge time.
I suggested this for Rise of the Phoenix back when fire armor was getting a look at right before they changed burn back so it didn't make everything run away even with a taunt aura rolling. Really glad it's making it into the game in another set and this set looks like a really fun new armor set. Thanks.

Yeah. It's not an increase to max HP (so no regen boost) and thus isn't healed back - it basically operates like Temp HP in D&D (3Ed, if that makes a difference)

No to both. I strongly dislike zones that artificially skip the day/night cycle. You can handwave it for a place like Dark Astoria with all its darkity dark evilness (and why are the war walls surrounding it still blue on the outside, anyway?) but not for Kings Row. Kings Row is just another part of the city.

Occasional rain, as just a random weather effect, would be fine -- for any zone.

And yes, the existing KR contacts could be nuked from orbit and that would be okay, provided the old ones remained available in Ouroboros.

I still don't get how Radiation Armour would have protection against Cold. Surely coolant would be it's weakness?

On the Kings Row revamp, I'd say no to persistant night time or rain, there are other zones which could use those kind of effects better (Both could be used in Creys Folley, rain in Brickstown, perma-night in St Martial).

The sky is always smoggy/cloudy there. I'll grant you that.
I could go for it raining with every nightfall. Maybe the chemical smog cools down when the sun goes down and drops as rainfall.

I'd just hate to see Kings Row turned into something too unreal and gimmicky.

They didn't want to break anything trying to make the Talos war walls red on the portion that borders Dark Astoria.

It can't rain all the time.

Good show.

On topic, I can accept it raining during the night cycle in Kings, that'd be pretty cool.

I was just poking fun at it from an immersion point of view. I didn't expect the war walls on the outside to actually be changed to red.

Are the Talos walls even necessarily the opposite side of the DA walls? There are often stretches of inaccessible territory between zones.
