Now THAT sounds foreboding! I sense a new rallying cry - might even make it to my warcry.
F10 ftw

So when people start getting all up in arms about their Brutes being all min/maxy and flames ensue, me bringing up "If you really want to min/max, you should be playing a dom" is still correct?
If you take all the insults out of this I see TBH saying his blaster can do x and Reppu saying a well played domi can do most of it better. |
Because in such situations I've always said something like that....I feel it's better to just say that than to go all commando and whipping out numbers that I have no business swinging around.
It's good that I have always been right and Reppu just used numbers to prove that. See? She's like my little numberz-proof puppy pet that helps me be right all the time

Why is people still posting? OP has already been exposed as seen in the quote above.
It's also fun to post some blatant over-the-top braggy comments and see how worked up and spiteful people get about it.

I haven't intentionally ignored anyone. I also haven't personally insulted anyone. Some of their ideas? Sure. Absolutely. Personal insults? Nope. Disagreeing with someone's ideas is not the same as a personal attack. Once again, if anyone has been subjected to personal attacks here, it's been me.

Just waiting for Cag to hexpose OP again, before this thread is done.

Your right, continue in these foot steps and I will be filing a law suit.
There may be legal issues with the actual Cag though
Wait, he won't be VIP soon anyway! Those dirty preems have no rightS!! |
Good day
EDIT: Fear not people I should be VIP by the time THB is ready
Hold on a sec - I think the rules in this thread clearly forbid the use of pets in completing any challenge.
Drat...and no one would believe she's a non-combat pet either >_>

You can min/max any toon you want to be fair.

But in each case the person doing the min/maxing usually has a goal they want to achieve. In this case it was a lot of goals and pointing towards a dom would be a good thing.
If people want easier to build and play toons then pointing them towards a dom is not necessarily the right thing because they need a certain playstyle.
So while it may turn out the a particular type of dom is the greatest ever character it still won't suit everyone because personally I dislike having to work for my survivability.

Huh? Cag's subscription lapsing isn't my fault. I said I was available last night, but by the time I got home we had a timezone conflict.

Reppu theorizing the strong points of a character that they don't have isn't proving anything. Theoretically speaking, if I had an airplane, I bet it would get me to work faster than my car. Then again, it might not, because I don't actually have an airplane, so I don't know.
This is the part that has had me really confused, they are accusing you of not being able to do things on, or seemingly post a screenshot of a domi you haven't got and then because you didn't show the set bonus' on a different domi that somehow proves you don't know what you are talking about?
If you take all the insults out of this I see TBH saying his blaster can do x and Reppu saying a well played domi can do most of it better. He then backs it up with maths and as any good lawyer does THB goes on a character offensive instead of disproving the maths (And I am assuming Reppu is right on the maths, I haven't checked myself but gut instinct tells me he is right). Just because Reppu doesn't have said domi, or doesn't enjoy doing the things the domi is capable of doesn't stop them being true. As for races, even if Reppu did have the toon then experience makes a huge difference to these things so the result wouldn't really matter anyway. To be constructive: Create a new thread, use that to define the criteria that 'the one build' would have to fulfil (Which would include buffing, which the blaster cannot do), then make that build and see how good you can be with it. |
Declaring that something you do not have and have never used is better than something that has proven itself to be capable of performing up to a certain standard is in bad taste. If your way of playing the game is to sit and theorize how much better a character you don't even have is compared to someone else's, you don't get to compete with people who's characters actually exist.

But you can work it out by measuring speed and distance, and then you will know. Which is the point.

Very clever people get paid a lot of money to use maths to figure things out that they can't pratically test themselves, then when the technology is created to perform them tests they are more often than not proved correct.
Maths is a fundamental underpining of life and particularly a computer game which is basically just a spreadsheet with pretty pictures in front of it.
I agree that just because maths says it can be done doesn't mean that any particular person can easily do it, I probably couldn't copy your blaster build and do the same things as you, but I would still know the build was capable of it. Just like when I theorise a build I know what it is capable of in advance of trying things, even if I know I have to push my limits to actually achieve it (Or find out that I am not as good as I think I am and fail).
Reppu not having the ability to practically prove something does not make it false. And to account for player skill the only real way you would know is to make one yourself and dedicate the same time you did to your blaster, because if Reppu did beat you it could be that he is a better player, and if you beat him it could be because you are the better player.
I don't think anyone is trying to say you didn't do well, but honestly if it was the best build in the world you wouldn't be able to move for them, and I hardly see any archery toons since Shield Charge came out and showed everyone that in a fast team all RoA does is corpse blast.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't use numbers to figure out what a build can theoretically do ahead of time, but in practice things do not always work out the way you might expect them to in this game. That's why I don't think it's fair for someone to claim superiority on a character that they have no experience playing and no way to actually back up their claims when asked to.
But you can work it out by measuring speed and distance, and then you will know. Which is the point.

And there are plenty of ways to take full advantage of RoA on fast teams, either by racing the Scrappers to the next spawn or queing it up from a distance while the rest of the team is doing cleanup on a previous spawn. It's also worth noting that Psychic Shockwave actually does more base damage than Foot Stomp on the same base recharge, and Explosive Arrow is a fast cycling AOE with decent damage also. The point being that even if the cast time on ROA makes it not advantageous in all situtations, Arch/Ment still has respectable AOE outside of it.

In the end, I'm not being baited by him. He won't get what he wants because he's going the wrong route by it. And in the end, I proved with math what he needed proven with execution, long before the execution was right.
A well-built and played Dominator WILL beat his Blaster in almost every single field, while also covering fields his Blaster cannot. This was proven. This was proven by math, and supported further by execution. And really, I'm glad you've further pointed out what others have been doing for pages now; I proved my Character. I just chose to be a funny with it and allow Screwdriver to continue to flip his lid and systematically destroy himself on a scale of 'public and social grace', while also being complimented by previous adversaries of mine on how I've been doing this with tact and grace. Mission Accomplished.
This thread has been over for a long time. I won in EVERY possible avenue, if we're going to keep pretending this is a 'competition'.
Deeeeerp.
I find it interesting that this thread somehow went from sharing how many things your character could accomplish by itself to how dominators are better than blasters.
The truth always comes out in the end!
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
You sought "how worked up and spiteful people can get" with some long winded bait. You got it. Mission accomplished. Deal with it.
I done it in 39mins.
THB done it in 1 hour 52mins.
