Thinking about changing home servers

Thinking about switching from Freedom to Virtue. I always like being on the most popular server due to the ease of finding groups and incarnate trials and such. Seems Freedom is decreasing in population and rumor has it Virtue is only growing bigger.

Would I see a bigger population on Virtue? Do a lot of Incarnate Trials and such get ran? Badge runs? Etc.

On Virtue, I see numerous trials being formed at almost any hour, though mostly at night. Some are badge runs, some not. I'd say its about half and half.

Finding random teams is getting a bit more difficult these days for anything in the range of 20-40, but that's not to say it's really hard to find them.

As far as population, it always surprises me that Virtue is in the red (server load) almost every night lately. People tell me CoH is dead and a ghost town these days, but Virtue alone disproves that.

Find a nice global channel or two and you'll never be without a team/trial/conversation on Virtue.

I switched from Freedom to Virtue. I was worried that there would be less going on.

As far as I can tell, the extra players on Freedom are farming.

There is very little farming spam on Virtue compared to the massive amount on Freedom.

Virtue often has only 1 Atlas, whereas Freedom seems to always have 3 due to farmers in AE.

teaming is easy on Virtue.

You mean around the same time all the good players left once pvp got hit with that nerf way back when.

One advantage of Virtue is that there are always tons of people sitting around chatting on channels waiting for someone to get something going. If you have enough initiative to form a team, your team will fill rapidly.

On the other hand, if you switch to Virtue you may find yourself inadvertently teamed with me when you least expect it.

I've been playing on both Freedom and Virtue quite a bit.

Freedom has for the longest been my home server, but the (interacting) population is definitely down quite a bit, along with all my globals being virtually dead (I double checked to make sure I was still in all of them and with them on tabs!).

Virtue feels more like Freedom used to back in the day. Atlas always has a fair number of people, and I regularly see stuff forming (unlike Freedom, where I can go afk in AP 1 for 30 minutes and come back and see zero broadcasts/requests).

I've actually been thinking of transferring my Warshade over... I'm definitely tempted.

(Freedom's decline was also years after i13... claiming it happened then is just silly)

No, it was right when pvp got hit.

Years? It was a few months after, if that.

And once AE hit, the server was dead outside of AE buildings for about 2 months, maybe longer.

You must be playing on a different Freedom server. Freedom's "decline" actually started with Exalted...and not Issue 13. It has since rebounded with most of the people I knew that went to Exalted...returning to Freedom. Maybe your perception of it's population declining was due to some of the friends you had leaving after i13, but Freedom is still very much so a lively server.

Freedom is/has always been a PL server. Before incarnates I never quite understood that, but now with incarnates it seems most Freedomites PL o get their toons to 50 to begin the incarnate process.

I was playing on the Freedom server that had about 100 people on during prime hours, if that helps any.

So how do you tell how many people are online? Cause that sounds like BS. I'll give it to virtue it's been in the red every night that I can remember logging in but I also never see Freedom dip below yellow even at 3 am when I log in some times.

I also see some other servers that stay yellow a lot but dip to green later in the night or early in the morning population seems healthy all around to me.

I'm in a handful of Virtue TF channels... some more chatty than others, but all good for forming teams and running TFs. There's a good mix of players out there who like to run TFs and Trials.

Hami raids and MS raids are less frequent than they used to be, but usually happens once-twice a week. Hami raids are usually Saturday blueside. I even saw the Abandoned Sewer Trial run twice last week. ^_^ And you can almost always find an ITF or i-Trail going.

Entertainingly, I watched someone on Virtue throw a tantrum when he went into Pocket D and didn't find any trials forming.

If you're looking for Incarnate Trials, try Dark Astoria, on Virtue.

Dawncaller - The Circle of Dawn
Too many blasted alts to list, but all on Virtue.

Weird, people still form trials in zones other than Dark Astoria? Why?

I was talking about the time after pvp/AE hit, which is kind of what I was talking about the whole time.

If you think the release of the exalted server hurt freedom, or any server, more than the pvp nerf, then I'm not really sure what to say.

It's gone back up in the past few years, but it's still not at the amount of regular teaming it used to have.

It's still the place to go if you need an incarnate trial or want to see people who still think walleaning is cool and who think ego bios make them good players, though.

I agree pvp hurt this game

Oh wait...that's not what you said.

Issue 13 was 3.5 years ago - many things have happened since to affect the population of each server. Freedom is still quite alive even outside of pvp season.

To the OP: Incarnate content is huge on Freedom. There are organized badge events; check the forums...as well as impromptu badge events for the itrials. I played on Virtue for a little bit, but it just wasn't my cup of tea....

Virtue has always been my home server.

Over the past few weeks, with the small amount of weekend play I put in (usually in the midnight hours, EDT), I've managed to get a character from 50 to 50 +3 largely by sitting in the queue while street sweeping or doing DA missions. I was expecting it to take (me) far longer given previous experiences with a different character, but the activity seems (to me) to have increased of late.

That almost sounds like a casual-friendly endgame system.

It is: when the LFG queue isn't being completely shunned in favour of fully pre-formed teams.
