Heaven forbid that the developers want people to play the game rather than just repeating the same low-level content.

And if I happen to be in an area where someone needs a portal dropped I'll drop it for them. On villain side though if there isn't anybody in front of the Arbiter you may have to wait a few minutes for someone to come after asking in Help chat. You can almost always find someone willing to help. That's what I like about this game.
People's willingness isn't the issue for me. I know people are happy to help (as am I when someone else asks for it), but I still don't like to have to ask. It's like I'm not earning it myself, or even being part of a team earning it together; I'm asking someone else to just give it to me.

It's like, if I found myself in a position where I really needed $20 for, let's say rent, I know I've got a dozen friends who would happily loan it to me, and a few who'd give it to me without expecting me to ever pay it back. Nobody would judge me for it, or be annoyed by it, or have a problem helping me out. But I'd still feel like a jerk for asking.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Except that's a bad analogy. If they give you $20, they no longer have it. With the O Portal, they can 'give' you one while losing nothing. I feel it's more like asking someone for a light for your cigarette. You're not taking their lighter, just asking them to use it once on your behalf.

PEDANT ALERT

Technically, you're actually using a very small amount of their lighter fluid.

Better analogy: It's like asking someone to check their watch for the time.

Or like coughing on someone when you have the flu!

Eh. Not really my point. My point is, I feel like I'm being a bother to people by asking them to do something for me instead of doing it myself, and I hate that. Especially with strangers; I don't like the idea that their first (only?) impression of me will be my begging them for something. Even if they don't mind, and it doesn't really cost them anything, and they'll forget about it a few minutes later. I doubt anyone's ever going to /ignore me or give me a one-star rating with the note "asked for an Ouro portal, the jerk," but it still feels like begging to me: "could someone drop an Ouro portal by the Talos train station and also give me some inf and also PL MEH!!!?"

Oddly, while I feel like that when I have to ask, I never perceive it that way when someone else asks; often, I'll go out of my way to find them and drop the portal.

Is it really anyone's problem but mine? No. But I'm still not a fan; it'd be nice it were easier to get around level 14 without relying on the charity of others.

I don't have a problem begging for things that can't be otherwise done, like this valentine mission where you need help from the other side.

I do want to follow the in game stories as much as possible, playing the game instead of global chat. I'm not a big roleplayer but would like the development of my character to make sense in character. I've refused to do missions that weren' in character for my toon to do.

That's why I'm looking for a storyarc or mission to get this.

It seems that the developers are really good at hiding some content.

Join a team doing normal mishes or a TF/SF - when you exit a mish almost certainly someone will open one - just use it - no begging involved - stealing maybe

I've always just asked someone to drop a portal in /local when I see a crowd.
Pop through, get the badge, done deal.

Nice of them to lower the level requirement, I don't think they need to hand-hold any more beyond that.

If I'm going to hang out in a heavily-traveled public area, I'll sometimes just drop a portal someplace obvious in case anybody was looking for one, for just that reason.

I read this in Professor Farnsworth's voice. Thank you.

When Ourobos Came out, I use to get this Access by doing the Faultline Mission http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Doc_Delilah With Doc Delilah. Going to RV is another way of earning it as well, for me, any badge there will give you access. I think the last place I go to earn this badge was to Head to the Hive and grab The Time Bandit.

Funny Thing today, is I never do anything like this now, Now while doing TF and Mission, I wait until someone open a OB Portal and Hop into it, I guess OB isn't as Important to me to get now.

If your base (or any base you can access) has a portal to Echo of Galaxy City or Echo of Dark Astoria, when you leave these zones the options are to go to the other one, or go to Ouroboros. That's my favorite back-door trick, but admittedly it doesn't have the flair of earning the badge through a story.

First off, it is supposed to be a secret from a character point of view... It says so on the badge.

Secondly you were given the complete list in the second post:

Additionally, since you were level 43 as of your original post, you could just go to Recluse's victory, snag any of the four exploration badges and get the Entrusted with the Secret badge without asking anyone for it.

From paragonwiki, with added level ranges:

Hero Souvenirs
Blue Clockwork piece for completing Tina Macintyre's Praetorian story arc (level range 40-45)
Letter from Requiem for completing the story arc of Ashwin Lannister or Laurie Pennington (level range 25-30)
The Magic Man for completing Mercedes Sheldon's second story arc (level range 20-24)
The PsychoChronoMetron for completing Agent G's story arc (level range 20-24)
The Real Faultline -by Dr. D. Stein for completing Doc Delilah's story arc (level range 20-24)
A shattered Shadow Seed for completing Shadowstar or Sunstorm's last Kheldian story arc (level range 45 - 50)

Hero Missions
Complete Holsten Armitage's mission: Rescue Senator Dybalski (level range 30 - 40)
