Sorcery Power Pool
We may need to wait and see.
Builds tend to be pretty tight, so getting a few powers in from a new power pool will give us advantages but something to loose too, in form of utility powers or even as set mules bonuses.
IIRC it had a long recharge and wasn't even close to being permaable, so I don't think I'd consider it a solution for blaster mez issues.
I think that if they fix blasters first that no one will use it.

So "fixing" Blasters comes down to giving them full on mez protection and armor?
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
I think it's too soon to speculate, seeing as it's a "game-changer" that didn't hit beta yet.

Need to be able to keep slinging pain all the time? Wait, you mean like..attack when under mez? So..like they ALREADY can do? Not this stupid argument again. If you cant play a blaster, go roll something else.

On topic, I'm going to have to check that pool out. I had been under the impression that there wasn't any information out on it yet.

Blasters have been shoehorned into having damage and only damage, but their damage is not significantly superior to that of the damage ATs. Most blasters don't have significant support power, survivability, mez protection, aggro control or good herding ability. I do expect them to get something in return for not having all of that - it doesn't necessarily have to be armor and mez protection, but it needs to be something.

Ok maybe 3 attacks isnt slinging pain..but compare it to how much damage the other ATs do when mezzed? Go on, add up all those strings of 0.0s. And the argument about other ATs not being mezzed does not hold water..they still CAN be mezzed.
Also, how can blasters being able to use 3 attacks be a disadvantage? Does any other AT have that? Did blasters have it, before? No. So surely it would be an improvement on what they had. Again..dont see the disadvantage.
Back on topic. The pool sounds fun to try. Maybe the damage aura on an MM pet.

In practice all ATs vulnerable to mez will counter that weakness, whether with breakfrees or clarion. Defiance doesn't change this equation - blasters will still need to carry breakfrees and clarion to use their full offensive power, the only really good tool they have. Therefore, it provides negligible benefit.
Scrappers and tanks still do get mezzed. I would estimate they get mezzed between 1% and 5% as much as blasters. But i'm willing to listen to any arguments that they get mezzed more than that; keep in mind that you get some seconds of mez added to the tally when you use an Awaken.

*shrugs* I've always liked the new Defiance. Being able to attack while mez'ed? Yes please.
I know it's saved me at least 2 times that I can think of (when solo'ing).

Once I9 and inventions hit I often wished for the original defiance. Softcapped defenses are the way to go for a blaster and that would have meant an almost constant damage buff.

It's saved my life a few times. . .
and I like the almost constant damage buff of the new Defiance just fine.

All it does for me is save an occasional breakfree and once I have clarion I just forget about it.

I'm not saying for the devs not to take it into consideration but to say, "well from lvls 1-50 you'll stink but once you get Clarion (insert x, y or z incarnate power) you'll see that the AT inherent is awesome!"
To be honest, I don't play Blasters that much; mainly because they're so boring to me (they're "just damage"). I do have 2 lvl 50 Blasters (and 1 AR/Dev in the making) so I do have some experience with 'em.

Facts are facts. Blasters get mezzed. It still sucks. Sorcery Pool grants mez protection. It will help current Blasters a lot more than Doms, Scrappers, Brutes, Stalkers and Tankers. The end.
But, personally, I'm thinking it's going to hinge on if you favor the concept of the powers. Even if it gives perma-able mezz protection, I'm of the opinion only someone that likes the look and theme of the power will pick it over other 'possible' options
So we should balance the AT inherent based on the premise that all Blasters will be getting Clarion?

I'll agree that a mezzed blaster is boring but they are most definitely NOT "just damage." Playing a blaster as they currently are is an art form akin to running along a razor sharp wire. Tip one way or the other and its game over. Stay on the wire and shred your feet but at least you succeed.
The problem with all of the above? Only VIPs can access Clarion and playing a basic AT well should be something that takes you a few weeks at most to learn rather than a few years.

What I mean by "just damage" is that for 90% of Blaster's powers (from primary/secondary) they all do damage (yes there are some ST holds, etc... but in general).
Whereas I really enjoy my main (kin/rad def) cause I can buff, debuff, heal and attack.

Anyways back to the OP...
New powers! It'll be interesting how they look (animation/effects wise) and all that.

Now I am extremely conscious of the state my feet are in. Thanks a lot.

No matter how nice it looks if I can't squeeze it in, then its not going in.
As for the Mezz issue...
It is my understanding that Mezz is mostly range based and that Range Defense help mitigate Mezz issues. If this is primarily true then if the Dev's could make it where your highest defense numbers go towards Mezz protection then it would go a long way of helping out those other blasters that based their defenses around Smash and Lethal or whatever. It also might lend to someone slotting a particular way to get some defense number even it is not defense cap in an attempt to get some sort of protection from Mezz.
End result the player would actually now have an option to determine if they want to have real Mezz protection or go all out and hope for the best. But as it is now you just don't have these choices.

A lot of you probably know about one of the upcoming power pool; Sorcery. If not just google it, theres most likely some rules that prevent me from posting it here
So who thinks the mez protection power from sorcery could make a pretty dramatic impact on Blasters? Its a bit of a game changer alright, giving Blasters (and any other squishy who chooses to take it) full mez protection.
Thoughts?
