Any ideas 147mb Patch?

Just logged on to launcher and update , any ideas what this 147mb patch is for?


Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt

They implemented a 147mb patch for sale items?
That don't sound right to me.

Probably the next month or so worth of new items on the market, so they don't have to take the servers down to add each item once it goes on sale.

This patch has been out on the Test server for a week so there's not that much "mystery" to it.

And as far as the size of the patch goes there's really almost nothing you can read into that one way or the other. Sometimes a 147mb patch contains 147mb worth of changes but other times there might just be a few one-liner code changes that affect enough files that require entire .piggs to be updated.

the patch was also so enable the ability to buy enhancement converters with alignment, astral and empyrean merits.

I imagine the patch notes will be up in 3 or so hours.

As I implied this patch has been established and patch noted on the Test server for a while now.

I know but they still release a production patch note usually around noon Eastern time after patches. That's all I meant.

As mentioned, see the test server patch notes, it's identical to the build that's currently on test. The final ones for live will be posted once everyone is in the office (it's 7:30 in CA) and has had their morning coffee.

TL;DR version of them: Lots and lots of bug fixes. Some really nice ones too.

147MB is because one of the fixes involved a change to a common library piece, which caused all of the mission maps that use it (which are a lot) to be regenerated. This happens quite a bit, usually due to something dumb like file names changing from upper case to lower case due to an inconsistent release process, but this time it was necessary.

The production patch notes is the only one I am interested in since as we have seen things can and do change from the test patch notes to the production.


The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

The reason the patch is so big is because some moron in version control keeps changing a bunch of text strings to all lowercase and then fixing them--sometimes in alternating patches--and all the data files have to be regenerated and piped down to the client.
