Badge Idea: No-Fly List!

I thought they changed it so that Dropships were now nigh impossible to kill?
Although, given Incarnates these days...hm *shrug*

They specifically made a choice to NOT award a badge for taking out a Rikti Dropship. As far as I know, the only time(s) a Dropship was taken down was during beta testing.

The stated reason (and I fully agree with it) is that it isn't something that everyone, or even every server, could do. If I remember correctly, it was Positron that said this, so you have a snowball's chance in hell to get this suggestion passed.

So, in conclusion:

/UNSIGNED

No, we've taken out multiple dropships as an event on Champion, more than once.

Edit: Found some old threads about it.

'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

Idea Improvement: rework the Rikti Invasion zone event so that it culminates in fighting a larger dropship (or maybe use smaller ships for the actual bomb drop phase and save the current model for the finale), sort of along the lines of the Seed of Hamidon. Use the APB to grant everyone in zone a temp flight power (Rikti jetpack why not???). Naturally, tie a badge into defeating the final ship.

Still likely not to get enough players on smaller servers to participate, so still /unsigned.

As someone from one of those "smaller" servers, I really don't mind this idea. Even on Pinncale, we can reach max population limit for events. I don't know why this couldn't be something similar to shoot for.

If you can take down Hamidon or successfully complete a Mothership raid then you should be able to take down a Rikti drop ship. Sylph Knight led a few of these on Justice and we dropped several.

I think it deserves a badge.

I'm pretty sure we have taken down a drop ship or two on Pinnacle when the raids first started. I would like a badge associated with something that monumental. It may not be possible on smaller population servers, but the players have proven that assumption wrong time and again

Sylph Knight was definitely involved with the infamous "7 Drop Ships destroyed in 9 minutes" raid that happened during the Beta testing phase that introduced Drop Ships to the game. Based on exploiting the weakness that allowed that to happen (which involved Slowing the ships to a standstill so that everyone could more easily dog-pile them) the Devs buffed the ships up to make them effectively "unslowable" by the time the Issue with those ships went live.

It's true that Drop Ships are still killable despite how much harder it is to do now - I've even been involved with a few live server kills on Virtue back when it was a "fun" thing to do. As a badger I certainly would have no problems if they ever introduced a defeat badge for them. But for what it's worth I actually don't have any problem that there is -not- a badge for them and accept Positron's judgement on the matter.

I led a bag of rabid cats (I hesitate to call it a collection of teams ) to take one down on Protector redside once, and I know there were some successful attempts blueside as well, so it's more than possible. However, I have to say I agree with Posi, if only because it really is a prime example of herding cats to do this.

I have done this twice on Virtue. Was a lot of fun, and it wasn't just one ship. If you get enough people you can take out the entire conga line of them. They fall one after another. Once you have the critical mass to make it happen it can be a bit too easy.

That's the key right there - you need to have a critical, relatively large, number of people to pull this off. In reality that's the only "hard" part about this.

I'm certainly not saying it's impossible to do even now. I just tend to understand Positron's reasons for not making a badge out of this. It's the same basic reason we don't have standard defeat badges for GMs in general. *shrugs*
