Crab Spider build challenge - with prize!

Hi All,

Sorry I didn't post over the weekend like I planned but my sub ended and I have only just been able to re-sub.

I am sorry that I have caused so much upset - that was never my intention and the changes I made to the OP were with the intention of making it fairer (As I was under the assumption that it was not possible in the way I originally wanted), though I do see how it didn't work out that way.

I have learned lessons from this, firstly that there is a lot of talent in the community, and secondly that what you write on the internet needs even more thought than I gave (The first post took me hours to try and word correctly but I still failed!).

Anyway; I will look over the builds this week when I get the chance and the one which I think meets all my goals in the best way will get the rewards as I originally stated. As New Dawn mentioned though I will be taking into account who provided the base build if someone took an existing build and just added a few tweaks.

Lastly: Thank you for those who have replied, it was well appreciated (Even the criticism).

Maybe next time don't include such a massive prize fund, this will mean that people wont be anal about 'winning' and therefore cannot get annoyed if the build goals change etc

Sry for replying that late but i have to say:

I created the Build that i posted without ever seeing the one princess darkstar posted which lookes almost similar to mine.

It took me hours to do all the work for 3 builds (2 of them never were in this thread as the criteria were changed as i posted them.

Now its to Princess darkstar to trust me or to say he took my build and changed some minor things

The contest has been over for two weeks and there's no sign of the prize being awarded, I'd be pissed too

Deadline was April 7. No reward paid and even a casual glance at this thread shows several players that fulfilled the obligations of the challenge in different and creative ways.

Seems to me that Princess Darkstar - "Proud" Member of the Handprints of Union - is a dishonorable player in a dishonorable SG. Maybe anyone considering joining their SG should take note of this.

As for those that contributed builds...very nicely done. I think a respec for my HoverCrab Permapet build may finally be in order. These look far better.

I don't know the situation. I can't pass comment on the situation. The situation could be in light of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd slightly more rewards have to be accrued and given out but that's me speculating.

Toys being thrown from the pram comments I do think will have no positive effect. If you can't hope that there is some understandable reason for the delay then holy miaow.

I was just assuming that PDs was just looking through the builds determining which ones were fully original, and throwing out those that simply copied and tweaked, then going through with a complete comparison of the remaining builds and deciding on what the final criteria would be for determining the winner. There are a good many builds to look through and determining which is the best is not something that one can do in a matter of minutes...

If the worse comes to the worse and she/he/it hasn't payed up by next month, I might just get the winner a commision from a friend of mine. At least it will be something.

I already have 5 VEATS but if I use any of the builds here as a platform to produce a Mastermind version (I do Crab, Bane, Huntsman, Widow and Fortunata atm) then yep, whatever build it is I be slapping presence pool taunt into I'll remember to reward the person who provided the Base Model. I can have any purple set at the ready and the entire thing done (levels, incarnates, accolades the lot) in no time if I wanted to and am slightly tempted.

I'll be a judge. Looks to me like a 5th of Princess Darkstars own contribution is made up of THBs help. Going from the OP, where Princess Darkstar couldn't for the life of him whatever come up with something it's concieveable that THB helped kickstart PDs idea. Then since then two builds have come into play remarkably not too dissimilar to PDs idea, a quick couple of changes and we are "tada". Whether or not they were done from a blank canvas is up in the air proofwise. It may of been best if PD had not self contributed at all.

It is most conceiveable that PD had gone with his own idea after all which is possibly as I say using a 5th of what THB had done. Whosoever helped turn the gears most as to what Princess Darkstar finally conceived for himself should recieve some reward or be the only reciever. 500 million Inf as stated in the beginning ain't much but it maybe a 5th of the price of an entire purple set and there is atleast a 5th of a build in common.

Then we can all be done and dusted.

The moral of the story will be don't self contribute.

Uh no. The moral of this story is don't believe someone who promises you something on the internet. Its most likely a scam.

So did anyone get anything at all?

If not, I'll judge them all and give a prize out by wensday. It is only 100 mil inf, all I've got at the moment, but at least it is something.

Erm I completely forgot about this and somehow didn't see any of the bumps since I last posted (I don't usually follow this section of the forum).

I haven't read the posts since my last one, and to stop their being any bias against certain people who have doubtlessly insulted me (Rightly so to be fair); I won't.

I was tempted to do another comp, I got 6 Ragnoraks for a prize atm but I am not with a firm conviction to the toon I am thinking of making.

Right then I have looked at the builds and it is very hard to judge to be honest.

TBH has made some very nice builds, but always with 1 power out (That I said is ok as long as nobody did a better build including the powers) and I felt there would be endurance issues. His build allowing for Ageless was nice, but as mentioned if you consider Ageless then you need to take into account the effect it will have on the pets so they can have less recharge, thus allowing for different slotting so falling short on the 'general good slotting' rule. I could have ignored Ageless and gone with Barrier which means the general slotting is ok, but I don't like the endurance use (1:2 ratio doesn't really mean anything because it is net recovery that is important).

Beelzy did a similar thing by picking Ageless but adjusted the recharge times to compensate and I really liked the build until I noticed that Frag Grenade had been dropped for Stealth. Taking into account Stealth supressing to half its value in combat it doesn't quite reach 45% to all positions (But otherwise really impressed me).

Helge made a build that I really liked, though it is very similar to the build that I posted (Which I shouldn't have in hindsight - actually I should never have made the entire thread). It meets all the criteria as far as I can tell (Most tellingly including all the powers), so the question is: Did he just copy or was it original?

I guess I have to trust him for saying that it was original, which means that Helge is the winner. I will contact him to sort out the reward.

Note: I still haven't read any of the posts made recently, though I briefly saw the word cheat as I scrolled through looking for builds I might have missed, so I will leave it by saying I may have not posted in a while but I didn't even get a PM from anyone to ask what was happening, so jumping straight to cheat is a bit harsh. I don't plan on having an arguement over it though so I won't come back to the thread (I am on PM if anyone feels the need).

Despite that I want to say thank you to everyone who posted, many of you were very helpful and it is appreciated.

Self contributing does complicate matters.

People were getting uptight after a period of two weeks.

It's worth pointing out that Arbiter Hawks deadline with his comp, has now passed two weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if allowing things to pass this long and/or forgetting the thread can be considered rude. I'd imagine that Arbiter Hawk would be considered rude by now with some people too.
