Personal Opinion Time! (whats the best server?)

Hi, i used to play this game back when it was p2p, and now im back! I just got some paragon points for my b-day and before i start buying extra character slots n such i just wanted to make sure im in the "right" server, looking for English, decent amount of people but still with light load time, any help would be appreciated thanks.

It depends upon a few factors.
Country? aka Servers that has more playing in American time or European time.
Do you sometimes play the chars Role-play wise?

Virtue is an RP server with plenty of players from the states. Thus it often gets into the yellow then red bars.
Freedom has alot of players, american time and also gets quickly into the Red bar.
Union was the unofficial RP server European wise and is alot on the yellow bars.
Defiant is European server with some RP happening.
Each server do have their feel, one thing I do know is Global channels are a must sometimes.

I am from usa, also no i dont want to be "tripping over people" but i also dont wanna be sitting for hours waiting for a party,

Biggest thing is avoid Vigilance and Zunfunkt (sp) - those are non-English servers.

And once you pick a server, check out that server's forum here on the boards. They have a list of global channels for that server.

Heh. Seeing the title, my first thought was "best server for what...?"

I have very limited experience with Virtue, but know it's where many RP players go. Freedom has some PvP from what I've heard.

I play a lot on Champion, and though it's a small server it's got lots of seasoned/regular incarnate runs, and is a great place to do badging, strike/task forces and the like. Pick up grouping is far more quiet, and redside mission teaming is even more infrequent. "Best" will all depend on what you are looking for out of a server.

Virtue and Union.

Freedom and Virtue are generally the most populated, with Freedom being more run of the mill and Virtue housing much of our Role Playing guys. Not that you can't play normally on Virtue, just that you should understand that before someone starts talking about their dark past and you're like "lol wut?"

Guardian. We have cookies.

i personally only play on victory server, it has been my home since i started playing the game little over 5.5 years ago, i also primarily play redside too

never had a problem finding a team when i wanted to team lol

Protector all the way, great people awesome help and always something going on and the players always are playing for my time which is at least till 1 am

My favorite has always been Justice. It seems to be not as populated as Virtue or Freedom, but not too far behind. That said, I've played on a lot of servers and have mostly had good experiences everywhere once I found the most used globals for that server.

If you are back again as subscriber, Exalted is also a very nice choice.

You get paragon store items for free, and it's like like russian rouletee for when they might delete all characters on there.

I've played to some extent on most of the NA servers and apart from Freedom which since it's the busiest is also where you find the highest number of jerks, I haven't found a really bad server in the bunch. Unfortunately Freedom DOES tend to gather the jerks so it's one server I avoid.

Most of my time is on Guardian... about middle of the road in population. It's home to quite a few, er, colorful characters and lots of friendly people. I've also spent a fair amount of time on Pinnacle and Infinity... both of them feel remarkably like Guardian with plenty of good people around. Pin is somewhat lighter in population but I haven't found that to be much of an issue.

Virtue sometimes gets a bit weird if you get in a group of RP'ers but if that's your thing then it's certainly the place to go. Generally apart from some occasional very strange conversations I really can't complain about the players there.

The best server is the one I'm on. The name of the server doesn't even matter; it's home.

Since you mention population as a consideration (and I didn't see anyone else mention this), the servers are sorted by 'load'. The last server that you logged in to will be listed at the top. After that, they are sorted by 'server load' with the heaviest load at the bottom of the list.

Note:
1) The list exceeds the window size so you have to scroll to see all servers.
2) Server load is not directly mapped to server population, but it's a reasonable proxy and the only metric we can see.

If you prefer playing redside Protector has a very active villain population. However the only teams you tend to see forming on the global channels are for Strike Forces.

There are servers out there where getting into the specific iTrial you want, or TF you want may take a week or 2 of waiting. For that reason, I'd recommend playing Virtue or Freedom. Zones produce multiple instances when the population gets high and there's no fighting for spawns to begin with... so I really don't see any downside to high population servers.

I see a big downside to low population servers in waiting for building teams/trials/TFs.

The Server's i been so far, I tell you little bit about them.

*Virtue- can be a RP's Server but not everyone RP's, People are nice on this Server, there alot of None RP SG out there as well.

Which is nice, since not everyone Rp's and There always teams and trial's being form almost every day.

*Freedom- There are good people on this server too, However The Number of dumb people on this server is amazing, this is why people call it Freedum.

A lot of people are known to Farm, wide amount of people PVP as well and The Pug Teams, well not all of them are good.

*Justice- Nice Server but with a low Amount of player, you going need to Join a couple of Global Channels in order to find Teams/Trials.

Justice is also Known as a Elitist Server as well, where people form there own little band of people for Activity's and Keep other people out of these Activity that don't fit there playing Style.

I wish I new more about the other Servers, but i don't.
