This. This is more like it.
I am definitely a fan of this latest content! As a (relatively) new dad, the solo arcs allow me to play at my own pace when I can sneak in a few minutes of "me time". I'm certainly looking forward to the next release; I can't get enough of this stuff!

I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.
I'm really liking the new Astoria so far. The intro mission was freaky and disturbing in all the right ways. And my ghost cop is right at home, so to speak. (He did get himself in over his head at the end of the first arc, and screwed up big trying to solo it, but that's in character for him and is providing a lot of story material - mostly angst and despair, which is also very much the theme of the zone. )
The incarnate rewards do come a bit slow, but at least we do have an option now. (I've never been allergic to trials myself, so I don't mind either way.) And it seems to have become the new default trial-assembly zone, which is good; might take some of the pressure off RWZ and/or Pocket D.

I loved taking my favourite +3 incarnate through the story.

... The iXP and thread drop rate I find to be not bad, especially while teaming. I was running my controller last night through some missions with a friend's blaster. My controller was all kitted out with all her Incarnate powers at Rare or Very Rare, while my friend didn't even have his common Alpha slotted yet (and I think he's using SOs). His connection and computer aren't really sturdy enough for trialing. Running two or three missions last night at +3/x4, he was able to get about 4 or 5% progress on his Judgement and Interface slots. Yeah, it takes longer, especially if you don't team and can't solo as well, and I figure there will be some tweaking, but it's not bad. |
I already had completed two entire arcs and was sitting on the last of the third when this happened: so I already had two components needed to make a common Alpha (I originally wanted the resistance one but that's near useless on a blaster had has all of three defense toggles, went Musculature instead) and about 11% progress on Interface and Judgement.
For the record, though, my blaster has no enhancements in him at all, not even SOs. I never got into managing that side of character development in my two years of playing the game, and while I do eventually want to get him and the rest of my characters enhanced... eh. And this is coming from someone who plays singleplayer RPGs that have some sort of micromanagement involved.
So, I fully expect it to be hard going solo in DA for my blaster, especially since he's the one that I want to have some sort of reason for those endgame powers (no, I'm not playing him as a strict "incarnate" in the game's sense at this point). I needed help with all but one with the EB bosses so far (Black Scorpion, second attempt: 10 reds, 10 purples... probably was a fluke).
Anyway, that team. I came out three missions later (Rev had to break at that point) with a ~10% gain in both running iEXP gagues and another component (since we went through an arc-ending mission and it was my second time through). A much better progress in that short amount of time compared to soloing in DA for a week.
I personally like the zone even if the content is hard and the design creeps me out sometimes. I think it was a good job.

Compared to soloing an unenhanced blaster through incarnate class critters, a 10% increase actually seems small to me.

So apparently, my list is to 1) get enhancements and 2) get a better computer... but I digress.
Along with an "Aboard the Mothership" Incarnate Hazard Zone.
