Anyone still watching The River?
I couldn't make it past two episodes.

I'm enjoying it. Gotta watch tonight's ep yet though.
It's okay. Like I said when I first saw it, it reminds me somewhat of the anime series Ghost Hunt with the variety of different things that will make you jump.
So yes, we get trapped spirits, possessions, ghost ships, angry jungle, dimensional rifts, creepy dolls, things moving on their own, cameras seeing what the people present don't, etc.
Yes, this should be a short one shot series. Almost something you would find from the UK. There is going to be some kind of big reveal at the very end that will make you scratch your head and wonder what the whole series meant depending how many questions they leave dangling.
Or the whole series could get really meta since it's a series about the "found footage" of the team that went to find Husband/daddy where they find "found footage". They could nest that concept indefinitely.

I only made it through the first episode and forgot about it until I saw this thread.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
My girlfriend mentioned this show to me a few weeks ago. I've been watching it, but I kinda have to agree with the general sentiment. A lot of stuff crammed in, a little haphazardly forced.
It kinda feels like a creepier version of Lost.... which was NOT one of my faves.

I saw the first 2 ep or so.....it just got to damn boring !
CoX for life !!
It has been ok but it's main saving grace is that it is only 8 episodes long. I think that is the only reason I have stuck with it. That and they do seem to make some progress each week. Though if they were smart they would all have run screaming for home when the found the guy who had been hanging dieing and coming back to life for months.
If this show had been a full 20+ episode series I know I wouldn't have bothered watching it.

And tonight's horror angle is ... raising the dead and possession. Also a slight church warrior angle as well as twisty turny rivers, all alike.
Problem with a show like this is once you know you are going to see "things" on the close circuit camera system, it becomes a drinking game.

Yeah, the ending left me wondering how they found all the footage. I doubt this will get renewed so I guess we'll never know.

Something interesting I read was that Netflix was considering picking up more of The River and Terra Nova to continue both if/since they weren't being renewed.
I've already forgotten about most of you
When I watched the finale, I got this weird vibe that both this show and Event Horizon exist in the same universe...

I watched it. I never watched the Blair Witch stuff, so I equated The River to "Paranormal Activity" on the Amazon.
We don' need no stinkin' signatures!
The River wasn't pretty enough cinematography. Far to much shaky cam etc to be visually in the same area as Event Horizon which is a terrible but pretty pretty movie.

Rather, I was getting at the idea that they were encountering the Warp, since EH is pretty much humanity's first true encounter with the Empyrean (unofficially).
The River brings back...something...and that something could just as easily be in the same class as the stuff in EH. The fabric between universes becomes thin at that point and they allowed something to cross over.
Just my interpretation of it. *shrug*
It seems like they're trying to cram every horror movie trope into this show. I expect the season finale will be like the end of the Blair Witch Project...
