Team Leader switches on DFB runs and possible new badge for that

I have run many DFB runs with a lot a new people and experienced players. What I really do not under stand is on a DFB and on the Incarnate trials the person who is the team or League leader who takes the time and effort to put together the team or League. is that when they go into the trial/mission they do get moved about. Now in an Incarnate trail were all level 50 and we know how to hand leadership (Pass the star) back. But in a DFB that rarely happens. I ran one the other evening and a very new player was invited and after we got in there they were made the team leader. I asked several times in a tell to pass the star and even told them how. But they never did, they eventually quit and the next person (Not me was given the star). I believe that if you go through the effort to help out the newbies gain experience levels and such you should be locked in as team leader unless you actually want to pass the star to somebody else.
I also think we as the team leaders should get some sort of recognition that we have do this many times and our own experience is invaluable to the new and starting player. Maybe a badge or something showing we can run the trial or mission.

Good news everybody.

There are both badges for running the trial and for being a team leader.

The badge for having a lower level toon on your team actually counts for the whole team, which i think is a bug.

To the OP:

The issue with a lot of new people, esp the DfB babies is that they don't read chat. They don't have to cause, well, DfB is so easy even a blind man can lead a deaf guy to a completion*.
This DfB behavior actually trickles over to Incarnate Trials too.
I actually have a feeling that with the new DiB, it'll only get worse, at least now they are semi forced to do other content past level 30 to gain significant xp, but with the new DiB, that is nullified.

One thing i really don't understand from the Dev point of view:
They wanted to take away the Empy rewards on BAF and Lambda because in their opinion, we were ignoring the rest of the Trials.
However, they see DfB as such a success that are giving a follow up in DiB. This basically means that you can start in DfB, move to DiB and get PL'd to 50 while ignoring the rest of the games content.
This also means that they see AE PL as bad, but D#B PL is good. >.<

Makes sense, right?

*This is not meant to offend those who are deaf and blind. I have the utmost respect for those who have to miss out on what this wonderful world could offer, while being hindered in their own life.

Can someone explain to a real newbie what DfB and DiB are?

Thanks.

DfB = Death from Below, the lowbie sewer trial.

I assume that DiB is the upcoming midlevel trial.

DfB = Death from Below, the level 1-6 sewer trial that is constantly being run.

DiB = Drowning in Blood, the upcoming new low level trial for Issue 22 (there is also a new Incarnate level trial as well). It will be 4-8 players, level 15+, and deals with the Shivan back story.

The badge is for being a team leader, not for having a lower level team member. Any time that you on top of the team list (While your mission is active for normal missions, while you're the leader when no mission is active, or during a Task Force), you earn credit towards that series of badges. That is how it is supposed to work, ever since they got rid of the old form of sidekicking.

But it doesn't work that way anymore, and that is why i said, imo it's a bug.
I got the last badge while not being team lead, i have seen people get the badges while i was team lead.

There is a badge for this.

If it's your missions being run, then you're the team leader, even if you don't have the star.

Ok, fine, since you insist on going in depth about this:

I was team leader doing my missions arc with a few friends, and someone got one of these leadership badges. This actually happened several times.

More times it happened while being on a Rikti Raid.
I got my last one while being on one and not being team lead, and i know other got theirs while not being team lead on one.

ITF's are where a lot of people get their leadership badges while NOT being the team/TF leader.

Well, I have no idea how that's happening for you. I have a new character that was just created this morning. I spent several hours on Posi and Synapse TFs today. I was only the leader as I was forming the teams, and I passed the star to a higher level person to run each trial. Due to a glitched mission, the (Premium) leader of one of those TFs disconnected to pass me the star so that I could file a petition. I spent over a half hour as the team leader. I have just over an hour of time (29% of a 4 hour badge) on the first mentoring badge.

I'm not saying that what you're seeing isn't happening. But I will say that it doesn't happen every time, nor even often. I haven't EVER received a mentoring badge when I wasn't the leader of a team, and I am rarely the leader when I'm teamed.

I think you all are missing the point. I am really not caring about a badge. Yes it is nice to have. My main gripe is the system switching team leads around. I do not have the control I should have. Like we get a real screw up and just door sits while we are all fighting like crazy because we are all level 2 again. I would like the option of kicking from the team and not sending tells during the trial to ask to take a vote.
Sometimes a leader has to have tough love. I really want to help the new character out with a few levels and answering questions. While I know I do not know everything (Nobody does). I know enough on who to ask and give decent answers.

Leadership goes to the leader of the first team in the queue. If you don't want to lose the star, fill the team or lock it before entering the queue. If you queue with a team of seven, and there's someone who's been sitting in the queue for an hour, they will get lead by design.

I understand what you're saying now.

I have herded my share of kittens, that's for sure. You recruit for an incarnate trial or a dfb, and it seems like 8 to 24 players soloing on the same map, depending on the trial in question.

There are some choices to make, things you can do to minimize those that "guard the door" afk, or aggro or attack things that are supposed to be left alone for badges.

You can grade them, make a note. If the pattern of behavior persists, just don't allow them in your trials. Mind you, on some servers, this is a tough policy, because you'll be running into these players frequently. Some of your global friends will be global friends with them -possibly.

The more you play, the more friends you make - then you can just use tells to your friends to invite them. You pick and choose who comes to the party.

I think lock teams on the dfb only means 'don't wait for more players' so the leadership bug still happens (happened to me several times).

Which is stupid. I lost the lead on a 24 person league once to someone who queued up because they couldn't find their way out of Atlas Park to join us.

Of course it's stupid. The whole TeamUpTeleporter system is *censoring myself* code. It's "working as intended" by the messed up devs point of view. But they're too stubborn and proud of their own intentions for it to ever change it to make 90% of the playerbase actually happy with it*.

Another option, a better option, would be for the playerbase as a whole to grow a pair and use the LFG tool instead of preforming teams for a god damn level 2 trial.

Short of throwing money at us, I don't think anything could make 90% of the players happy. At least, not all at the same time.
