Piecemeal Voting For Retro Sci-Fi?

I dunno. I'm thinking that this isn't the right way to do it. I'm thinking that instead of saying, "What space suit do you like? Helmet? Boots? Monkey?", they should have instead said, "What set do you think best represents the theme of Retro Sci-Fi?", and gave us three different sets, in full, to choose from.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's awesome that we get to vote on this. It just doesn't feel like the right way to vote.

I could not possibly disagree with the OP more. Having the pieces designed to be part of pre-made sets is what has resulted in all of the minimally useful, shaded, complete non-versatile options we have been getting lately.

I would much prefer if they didn't even let the guy designing the space suit talk to the guy making the jetpack. It would improve our chances of getting some good mix-and-match pieces.

OK, so what if the majority of votes calls for the spacesuit with the rings, but nothing else with rings wins? Or if the only ring item is the rocket pack? What then? It doesn't really fit the rest of the design.

If we get a spacesuit with a glowmap, then why don't the rest of the parts have a glowmap?

Honestly, I would pay upwards of $50 for all of the pieces shown. Most of the ones I like the best have less votes.

I get both sides of the argument - I can see the OP's point but not sure I agree.

As it is structured now, we get to vote on detail.

If the Devs had offered us a choice of three complete packs to choose from, we'd be far more limited. Imagine a really great suit, but crappy helmet, average gun and meh backpack - but on another you get a crappy body and great accessories?

Can't please everyone always but this way at least we get to express our preference and please more than most

I'm hoping that they will take all of the selected items and tweak them however they deem appropriate if it seems necessary at all.

Remember, there are often differences between concept art designs and the final in-game 3D art. And I hope that people understand this and don't call them out for not sticking to what we voted for.

And, honestly, I'd prefer that they did it more piecemeal: chest&legs, gloves, boots, shouldamapads and so on... Of course, I completely understand why they did not do that and don't fault them one bit for it. I'm just saying... My ideal (besides me being the final word!).

Where I feel somewhat the opposite way.

In addition to the current categories of Helmet, Rocketpack, Gun and Rifle; I feel that the Space Suit vote should be split in two.

The "Suit" - Chest and Pants
and
The "Accessories" - Gloves and Boots

Parts that I absolutely love(The ringed boots/gloves from option C) are paired with parts that I really don't like. So my options are:

1) Vote for the pieces I love despite it being my least favorite overall look
or
2) Don't vote for my favorite pieces because I don't like the rest of the "suit" that they're paired with.

No matter which one wins, I still lose.

I would also like to disagree, I put costumes together a piece at a time so I would prefer to vote the same. I understand why this isn't being done though.

I can say that I was torn at the space-suit poll, some suits looked really, really good and some glove/boots also looked really good too, but they were paired up with things I wouldn't choose first so I had to vote for the one that I thought I could get the most out of.

They couldn't break down everything so you'd be voting for each individual item (weapons withstanding), but I agree that breaking the space-suit down to body/gloves&boots would've satisfied me entirely. The rest of the votes were tricky but I didn't feel I was voting for the 'wrong one'.

Also you have to consider whether they're doing this poll to see which ONE they should make, but which one(S) seemed best. If they deem it appropiate, who's to say we can't get two helmets, or two ray-guns, or one extra design of parts based on the top and runner-up votes? I'd like to think they're also looking for which ones seem to stand out and then have an idea of what kind of shapes and designs please the userbase most.

It's not perfect but this co-creation/feedback poll thing is WAAAY more fun and productive since this will lead to a potentially more sought-after costume set then if they had to wild-guess and get flack from people who have very different ideas of what retro sci-fi should look like. The playerbase would only have themselves to blame if a design they didn't like got through.

This is my feeling too. Now that there is the option to buy select costume pieces individually, why not just make most/all of them, and let people pick/choose what they want, or bundle them ALL together for 1600 or 2000 PP?

I'd pay the extra points to get everything they've shown plus the female pieces they haven't revealed.

Then we would have some pieces with rings and others without. I like easy questions.

Then people could make costumes using a rocketpack with rings?

Given that we are just as likely to be using that rocketpack with tights pattern #3 as with the new space suit, it won't fit the new non-ring item any less that it fits with the hundreds of non-ring items we already have to potentially combine with it.

I really want a Robby the Robot to go with it.

I am also okay with the piecemeal voting since most often I use pieces on costumes not the entire set.

total kick to the gut
