How good are the enhancements in the shop? Compared to normally obtained ones.

Cause I have quite a lot of points, but don't know if I want to spend them on enhancements if they're trash in comparison to most of the ones in the game for free.

The store bought enhancements are identical in enhancement value and set bonuses to in-game enhancements of the same name. There are two major differences:

-The enhancements level up with you, so when you level up, the enhancement value gets slightly bigger, until you reach the max level for the enhancement. They do NOT level down with you when you exemplar; the enhancement values scale down just like regular enhancements.
-The set bonuses stop working when you exemplar below (the minimum level for the set - 3) rather than (the level of the enhancement - 3).

Ultimately, they aren't that different from the regular versions, but they're very handy if you are having trouble finding the enhancements you want. Whether they're worth the points is a call that only you can make.

Rod hit the major pro for the store bough enhancements, but he didn't hit the con: they can't be upgraded with Enhancement Boosters the way regular IOs can.

There are major pros, and major cons with the tuned I/O enhancers at the shop.

Cons
1) they are impossible to sell to anyone else
2) they are hard to move to another character. (thru global e-mail, 20 at a time max, and those 20 take a few minutes cause the 15 sec rule)

Pros)
1) You can slot them at the lowest level of the set 20 or 25 or w/e
2) They level up with you to the highest level of the set 40 or 50 or w/e
3) If you exemplar back down you do not lose the set bonuses until 3 levels under the lowest level of the set, yet when 50d you get the max bonus the set can deliver. (Basically best of both worlds, set bonuses work as low as possible, and enhancement bonuses are always as good as allowed)

For myself, I in general do not like them. they are too much of a pain. Except, I am leveling a character doing a Blueside project. i am running all content on one Brute Blueside. Big project. Almost my entire build is Paragon Market tuned enhancers. When you spend a week at 20-24, two weeks at 25-29, etc these types of things make a ton of sense.

I will be creating my first badger after this project. I will be planning to use Tuned enhancers for that as well. I sure hope they market more LOTG , I should have bought a couple more sets in the fall, didnt realize it was a short term sale.

So yeah, as the posts above this one have said they have definite advantages over regular Enhancements. The question is whether they're big-enough advantages to shell out real money for.

I tend to think that L30 crafted IOs are "good enough" in most situations, representing a great compromise between level of enhancement and keeping the bonuses as low as possible. (I make an exception for the LotG global recharge IO, given that it's useful to slot a single L25 to have that all the way down at level 22.) A lot of IO sets get into ED territory if you slot them all at level 50.

But there are certain sets where you want to be as good as possible, like if you're near but not quite at softcap on Defense. In those circumstances, I would be inclined to go Attuned when they're available.

(I also wish I'd bought more attuned LotG back when they were on sale. Oh well, I expect they'll come around again.)

Translation: Marketeers can't abuse them by flooding the market with them. If they ant to manipulate the market they can't use the store as a short cut.

Not a Con.

Which is no different than what players have to go thru when they want to email anything else to their own characters regardless of whether it's regular enhancements, inspirations, or salvage.

While it is annoying it's not a con that is unique to account bound enhancements.

Forbin, I was making a statement about what things were Cons for me.

You just clearly stated that I was wrong. That these things are not Cons to me.

Are you truly stating that you know my preferences better than I do?

You weren't really presenting factual "Cons" though, you were presenting your opinion as fact. The first being a strict rule in place to prevent people from flooding the market with these enhancements, the second being...just your average problem, not something specific to the question at hand. Understandable that it irritates you, but not really 'cons' overall.

You honestly thought I listed a series of PROs and CONs and were not talking about what I thought was good and bad? Wow. So when Joe at the corner says "Eat burgers, they are good." You hear. "You must eat Burgers. Burgers are Good." And it is as if a divine prophet has come down and declared truth unto the masses.

Explains a lot about how cults start.

Nope, to clarify, i was talking about why I do and do not like something.

P.S., it is also irritating when you e-mail them that unless you are immediately ready to slap them on another character they clog your e-mail up. the more you have, the worse it gets.

p.p.s. That last statement was just something I think is bad. it is not a law. it is not something the Devs said. No prophet has handed down that word from high above.

Sometimes I wonder about Forbin. Is it really "I will create a Project named Forbin that argues every point across every board."

He was fun to watch for awhile, but it's the same shtick over and over again now though. I wonder if the creator still enjoys it?

This isn't the first time he's made inaccurate statements.

His persecution complex is amusing to watch. Every time he gets corrected he takes it personally and tries to portray himself as a victim.

To be fair about the passing of SBEs to one's alts - with items you can trade, most will fit in an SG base's storage tables. Which can be used to quickly move enhancements (well, quicker - despite the email cooldown it's still fairly quick) between alts on the same server and same side.

A nice addition to the game would be to add a new personal storage bin similar to the Vault where we could place SBE's only and could access the storage from another alt. They could make the container hold the same amount as the number of slots a lvl 50 character has.

No, he's building a supercomputer that will unexpectedly take over the world and hold him hostage.

It's both a pro and a con. As you've said, it prevents market abuse. On the other hand, if I choose to retire a character with store-bought sets, I can't sell or trade them in for things another character needs. They're still not useless, of course, since I can send them to another character, but it's less flexible than a normal IO.

Most of the points of your question were covered by others.

The only thing I will add is that you can get the same benefit of the store bought enhancements for the most part by taking minimum level enhancements from the set and boosting them 5 times using the boosters. Level 25 enhancements reach very close but slightly below level 50 ones, level 30 enhancements will exceed level 50 enhancments by a little bit. The two sets you can't do this with were Basilisk's Gaze and Eradication (both level 10-30), for these the store bought ones are vastly superior to anything you can achieve in the game.

Once boosted they are bound to that character and can't even be sent to other toons of yours like the store bought ones can however.

If you are not a tier 9 subscriber you will have to determine the price of the 5 boosters (200 PP for 5) and cost of getting min level enhancements of a set vs just buying the store ones.

Edit: Just checked and most store bought enhancment pieces are 100 PP so slotting minimum and boosting would only make sense if you are a tier 9 subscriber and can get the consumable 25 booster option. Otherwise the store bought enhancements are cheaper.

I believe you can un-boost the enhancers to move them once boosted. I have not rolled into enhancement boosting yet.

That could be. Last I heard it was at: there is no way to move them but if you could the boosters would be lost.

Someone else will have clarify that. The wiki is down for the protest so I can't see if they changed the page on the boosters.

Adding a booster to an IO makes it function as if it were one level higher. In what world does a level 35 enhancement have higher values than a level 50? O_o

Is that working as intended? Deleting items that you paid cash for just because you emailed them doesn't sound right to me.

I misspoke. You can't email boosted enhancements. You can trade them directly with other players though, and it strips the boosts out. You see it on the trade window when doing this (it no longer says +#).

I have no idea if it's WAI, but that's the way it works.
