issue 22, and other questions

When is issue 22 expected? This is prurient interest, but it also is important for scheduling/using freespecs and bought winter respecs. Has nothing to do with the fact that I'm dying to try dark/dark dominators. nothing.

Along those lines do we have a timeline for the next 3-4 months when cool stuff will be dropping? (My wife went bat **** last night over the flying carpets!) She's a new premium player, and it is nice to see her excited about stuff.

I think Staff Fighting is scheduled for after issue 22? Anything else I should be saving points for, planning around?

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing scheduled. It can't be. For what it's worth, we'll probably see an I22 beta in a few weeks...and maybe even the CCG going live soon...but that's it.

Given Positron's comments yesterday regarding the results of the current SSAs needing a whole issue to really be implemented properly, I'd imagine the "soft-date" goal would be to bring i22 out in mid-March, when the current series ends. That would generally fit with the window created by sticking it in Beta sometime this month as well. Regardless, I definitely wouldn't expect it before that point.

In other words, it's going to work like most other Issues have in the past. They won't give us a firm date, and possibly not even an estimate.

I recall one time that a firm date was given barring major problems being found that would require a delay. The date had to be pushed back due to major problems being found. The forums were rife with posts whining about them missing the "promised" release date and ignoring the fact that major problems were found that prevented it from being released.

Hopefully they've learned from that one and will not give firm dates in the future.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Yeah, I'm okay with penciling in dates. the sometime around March lets me know the 2 winter specs I bought were a good investment indeed. i'll hoard them back a little and use them at a critical point. too bad on the other hand its not until March or later, cause I am itching to try those Doms. yet again, this will give me the opportunity to finish my current project and get a good start on the next 2 I have penciled on my schedule before getting distracted wit the Doms lol.

When scheduling, make sure to account for NOT getting any new freespecs. Freespecs are usually only given out if there are significant changes to existing powers/power sets. Just because there is a new issue doesn't mean we will get a freespec.

Also, bought and earned respecs don't affect and aren't affected by getting freespecs either. If you've bought and earned respecs, they won't stop you from getting a freespec (if you don't already have one previously), and they won't take the bought and earned respecs away. Once you have them, you have them. Freespecs don't stack because the system they've historically used to grant them doesn't handle that, and the intention is to correct build issues caused by changes they've made to the game. If you have a freespec that hasn't been used, then you apparently don't have any issues from the changes from before.

Stalkers are having some pretty significant changes being done to them in i22.

True, they are working on them, but they haven't made it through beta yet. There's always a chance that the changes won't come through for some reason, or that the changes may not be significant enough in the minds of "the-powers-that-be" to warrant a freespec.

I'm not saying they won't from the changes, in fact I expect there to be some kind of respec that comes through at least for stalkers (hoping they just go ahead and change the system to use the new email system put in for Freedom so they can stack instead of the old existing system).

My intended point was that a new issue doesn't always mean a new freespec grant so that we don't get new players interpreting that is way it works and then be disappointed in a future issue where we don't get one that they may have expected.

I've been dying to know this as well, ever since I heard Dark Control and Dark Assault were coming. I'm dying to get my Dark Dom going.

I also heard there were going to be changes coming to Gravity Control. Is this true?

Yes, they're planning to speed up some of the animations and add a new damage mechanic to some of the powers.

The KB powers will get "impact" IIRC - kinda like containment but set by the target having KB protection (might only work with the set's own KB-protection producing powers, but still nice)

Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

I have had exactly 3 50th Doms. they have all 3 been Grav/Energy. (Why cannot I leave it alone?) Two of those were Perma-Dom'd and Purp'd. And they, erm, what is the word, vacuum? no. Anyways, I ain't doing it again. Period. I will try the Dark/Dark however, that falls nicely into some character concepts I love.

Statesman loyalty program also ends in march, the thing keeping people subbed until i22 comes out while nothing else happens. March for i22 is a solid bet.

It should be noted for completeness that the respec "bought" during the winter event for 500 candy canes counts as a freespec, not an earned respec. Obligatory Wiki Link

Yes, I RP and play Redside on Virtue - No, Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated

Do you suck at COH/COV? not yet...

As far as I can recall the last time an issue went live without including a freespec was back in 2005... we've gotten at least one (a couple of times we got two with the 2nd a week later) freespec with every single issue release since then. I've been here since issue 3 went live and can attest that we've had a freespec with issues 4-21.

I think it's pretty safe to say we will get a freespec with issue 22.

COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes

I kinda did the same thing. The last 3 Doms I made were all Grav/Energy because of concept (same concept, different servers), and I like the combo. They're not 50 yet, but getting there. The Dark/Dark Dom concept I have in mind is the flip side of that Grav/Energy concept, and I'm anxious to try it while I level the Grav/Energy Doms to explore the concept/anti-concept idea.

Thanks for the answers. Looking forward to it, esp the shortened cast times. (Sorry, activation times.)
