UPDATED: Discussion: "Super heroic Holidays" Costume Contest on VIRTUE - Thursday, December 22
The quote you used was Cherry referring to my post.
The discussion was if the Devs should host these contests/meet and greets on all servers or just Exalted. Somehow you twisted it to not getting your points on time. That's a legit gripe but there are threads on that already.

Dosn't matter what server for me, it's either at 5AM or 11AM local time, so as usual nothing I can attend as I'll be at (or on way to) work.
PS: I'm not complaining, it's hard to cover all timezones.
Pity I've already used up a server transfer the day after this was announced to take a toon to Exhalted for the contest.
Don't really know if I can be bothered to waste another transfer and a subsequent one to take the toon home again afterwards.
Glad I checked the forums though, as the launcher still says the contest is on Exalted.
Sorry , reading this thread sparked that isue again in my mind. On the issue- If we were really VIP why don 't they have a costume party on every server - too time consuming - 6 servers then or 3 spread the VIP love.

Even Real World Heroes is running multiple events on all the servers. (By the way please check them out.)
So if players can do this then Pargon can also. They simply choose not too.
------
They are still advertising it being on Exalted on both the rules page and the game launcher.
'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

They're doing a nice thing at Christmas. They don't have to do anything at all, but they are trying to start up something fun, giving everyone advance notice, and when someone complained that it interfered with their event, they MOVED THE EVENT!
And still people criticize they aren't doing enough.
*facepalm*
For goodness sakes, it's a COSTUME CONTEST! You're not going to win. *I'm* not going to win! Something we both agree is doofy is going to win. Why? Because that's what CC's do! It's in the fine print of the rules, or a by-law or something. Even people you know that have exquisite taste will pick out something dumb when they sponsor a CC. Temporary insanity? Absolute power corrupting absolutely? We may never know! But we all know this is the guaranteed result of a CC.
It just IS.
What we can do is go and have fun. And maybe even say "thanks, it was nice of you, we appreciate your thinking of us." And if you wanted to add "I know we'd all love to see you host a CC on (name your server), too, sometime!" I don't think anyone would be offended in the slightest. Heck, they may even feel inclined to go to (name your server) because all the people they've met from there lately seem so doggone likable.

This post was hard to stomach with all the whining and I kept thinking of a quote from Louis CK (on Conan).
"How quickly the world owes him something, he knew existed only 10 seconds ago."

They have held a monthly CC event on Exalted since i21 came out. It's in their notes that they'll do this every month, not just for X-mas, it's just a theme, like.. Halloween?
Our issue is:
Spreading the love around.
Singling the love to one server where only VIPs can go is imo, a big slap in the face to free players, Premium players and even VIPs who CHOOSE not to abandon their home server.
Now i hear you say: "Make a toon just for the CC, and stop complaining."
My reply: "A level1 toon doesn't have as much costume options unlocked."
Also, making these events for VIPs only, divides the player base.. I'm a VIP, on Guardian, I refuse to go to Exalted, so i am not important to them?
Premiums spend/spent cash on the game, are they also not important?
Free players might in the future spend cash on the game, are they not important?
I'm saying that i AM important. That guy that just made his 1st toon, checking out the game for his 1st hour, guess what.. he is just as important as i am, as she is, and yes.. even you.
"Well, the events are for VIPs only to show them that they care, and give something extra."
We already get stuff extra.. 400PP a month, Free Server Transfer, free this, free that..all cause we pay our $15 a month subscription.
Instead of trying to do something special for people who know how great this game is, how great the Devs COULD be, do something special for the ENTIRE player base, so that that guy that just entered Atlas Park for the 1st time, also knows what great this game and the Devs could be, and will tell his friends about it. (see the snowball effect i'm creating here guys?)
They used to have events several days on all servers. Not all on one day, but spread out over a week, why can't they do that?

You can't just save the costume and use it on an existing character on Virtue?

I'll probably attend to see the efforts that others have made as I love the generally good humored banter at the CC's.
This contest was announced far enough in advance that you could create your costume and participate. Normally it's on the VIP server, Exalted. Why? Here's why. If you were the owner of CoH, are you going to cater to the gamers that are NOT contributing financially, or are you going to dedicate what free time your Dev's have to having fun with those that do? The contest is usually held on Exalted probably because it becomes problematic to separate toons that are free to play, and those that are not. And THEN to explain it to those that are free to play that, they do not qualify. Imagine if a lot of free to play players showed. Think anyone will be happy having to wait while the dev's judge 5 or 6 instances of Pocket D?
Look, I get that you want more events. But there's no reason why you can't run some on your own. And some of you are, which is great! But please stop griping about something the DEV's are doing for US the players. They don't have to, they don't owe us anything.
I find moving the event to Virtue a good first step but not enough. Since people may or may not have toons/slots on Virtue to enter this "contest". Sure most can make a new toon but a 50 with all the goodies unlocked has an advantage over a newly created toon far as costumes go.

Do you want a CC that is only open to level 1 characters and is not allowed to include any unlockable costume parts that are not available to Free players at account inception? That's the only way to create a truely level playing field.

Currently you can be a VIP for $1.99
Currently you could be a 6 year vet that is premium and stopped subscribing because dislike for Incarnate. Thats $1,080.
Most people fall between these 2 examples.
Far as its too hard to judge multi Pocket D's where have you been? They uses to do this all the time.
F2P instantly qualify if they win because they get game time thus promoting them to VIP.
So what do you suggest? Regardless of what server it's on, even if it's on ALL servers, a new Free-to-Play player is going to be at a disadvantage compared to a seven year Vet whose lvl 50 character has gone through all the regular and incarnate game content.

Not that it isn't fair for all level 1's to go against lvl 50's.
Wow, never thought that standing up for the idea that everyone should get a chance to be a part of an Event is so radical of an Idea. People are actually going out of their way now to give reasons why people should be excluded.
Those F2P that you want to exclude are the future VIPS. Those premium players that are still hanging around are your teammates and friends in the game. The people who are buying points instead of a subscription are still supporting this game.
We host one of these a month, each one requiring time from one or more developers and the Community team. For us to host these on each and every server would require a not insignificant investment of time that isn't realistic, both from a Community team standpoint or from a developers time spent.
I understand and appreciate that you want to include everyone, and we're making strides to include premium and free players in more ways, as you can see by the improved forum access, however we're going to continue to offer exclusive events and perks for our VIP players.
FYI: The reason this month was moved from Exalted to Virtue was to accommodate a player event. Next months will either move back to Exalted, or will be held on a different server.

Sad that you didn't move it to include more people but instead because it bounced up against a MSR.
As of right now, the Rules page still shows the event on Exalted.
Yeah, and guess who was monitoring the rules page and missed the event because a) they moved it and didn't announce the change in locations well, b) they didn't send out tells on Exalted before the event saying "hey, it moved!" giving people time to switch over and c) we were all hanging out with DJ Paragon in PD on Exalted...who ALSO thought the event was on Exalted. What a complete waste of time getting my toon ready and getting excited over the event.
