How did Paragon Wiki know this is coming?

I was just checking out the Titan Weapons Powerset and came across a page on a new powerset called Staff Fighting. I have read no mention anywhere on the City of heroes pages or anything from any known dev that this powerset is even being considered, much less coming out soon. Where did this info come from?

Did the writer get it from a reliable source or did the same Prince of Nigeria who sent me an email in my spam wanting to wire him ten thousand dollars so he can wire me a million dollars write it?

Anyways here is the page: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Staff_Fighting

Staff fighting has been speculated for a few months now due to leaked information such as a video showcasing all the animations and power information accessible in game.

Plus, at the Player Summit thing, the devs officially confirmed Staff Fighting as an up and coming powerset that will be purchasable and will come out some time after I22 has launched. I can't pull up any sources, but I'm sure a little search-fu, looking for Player Summit info, will get you what you want.

Staff Fighting has been known for a while. It was officially announced/confirmed for i22 at the Plummit, I believe. There's a video of the powers on Youtube.

While I think the Prince of Nigeria theory is interesting, the only way stuff gets on the ParagonWiki (and stays) is that it's vetted material.

PS; there's an historical section on the page that you linked that gives you verification.

I'm still confused about 1) How a fan made this and 2) How a fan made a video that so accurately matches what the devs are actually working on that the devs showed the video as a preview of the powerset.

I suspect neither of these questions can be answered on this forum.

Yeah, if the powers are in the code (even if not released yet) and they have animations... and a person figures out the names of those powers...

They could type them in via demo recording, using the proper command lines, fire up the demo record... and watch it play out!
It is impressive and required it all to be in the code already, but it is very possible.
I found it interesting that they actually used that video though, hehe...

Staff Fighting

The Original.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

It's worth noting (and I am in no way affiliated with the wiki) that they have a good relationship with Paragon Studios and are unlikely to post/host "secret" information.

The information they have posted is pretty much straight from Paragon Studios, and/or straight from the existing Live client.

Someone did post information on the wiki after the leak, but the rest of the wiki users shut it down right away and removed it. We don't allow unofficial information up there.

Time travel.

Wiki staff regularly travels back in time to tell themselves what is going to happen. Really almost eliminates the need for edits.

That would explain the abnormal temporal field anomalies that Commander Data has been studying lately. :'(

Well, these replies are actually good news. I can vouch for Aggelakis myself, because this person has edited at least one article I know of the Paragon Wiki. If this person says it's vetted, that means they got people who actually check the material that gets posted to prevent misinformation. This person's response is a relief and that tells me we will get Staff Fighting in the future for certain

Sorry to be like that, but I am suspicious of most wiki's after hearing what a well known radio personality has said about wikipedia on his radio talk show.

This radio personality had the number one talk show geared towad men ages 18-35 in Los Angeles which is rumored to be the lucrative market in the Unite States. Anyways, because of his position, he knows alot of celebrities and claimed his own wikipedia page and the pages of other celebrities are full of inaccuracies and misinformation.

He even did a show about some poor lady in Kansas who actually recieved an email from somebody claiming to be the Prince of Nigeria asking her to wire a few hundred dollars to Nigeria in exchange for a million dollars. Which of course, was a scam she fell for. This radio talk show host actually joked later on that the same Prince of Nigeria wrote his wikipedia page creating this inside joke for me.

But anyways, that may be other wikis out there. But it's clearly not the Paragon Wiki, which is what matters right now. Ignore my post.

Yeah, it happens. People deliberately post incorrect information for their own agenda. This is also very common with political figures. It will eventually get corrected. Also, on an entry where this happens a lot, the wiki staff will typically 'lock' the article so random clowns can't edit it.

Regarding bold: I think I've edited more than one article. *LOL for real!*

Regarding underline: It was announced by real live people in front of real live people, and all of the data was in the game for months prior to the announcement - there was no way for misinformation on that one. We deliberately removed details regarding it until it was officially announced, though. (You can see my admonishment on the Staff Fighting talk page! )
