This set actually makes me want to make a Dom again.

Confirmed in the Ustream today Life Drain at tier 7 or 8 and Death Shroud at unspecified level are in.

Just a guess but what I'd expect to see for the T9 would be smaller versions of "Fluffy" more like Imps or Gremlins. Maybe 2-3 who do moderate damage and To Hit Debuff.

... A 16 foe target cap aoe cage available every spawn.

What?

Two words..
"Black"
"Hole"

....What?

I only put TT in there because Synapse said there'd be control, and it falls into that category.

I rather hope it's not Umbral Torrent...

Nice. Any chance if they confirmed whether it was Blaster or Defender Life Drain?

God me too. Umbral Torrent is a horrible power. "Lets take one of the sets main AoEs and give it one of the most widely hated secondary effects in the game!"

Just pointing out that ALL versions of Life Drain got the same changes as Blaster Life Drain. They're all 8 second recharges that deal 1.64scale damage and cost 8.53end (Except the MM version which costs more end cause of their inherent end cost penalty).

Tenebrous Tentacles isn't low damage though. It's certainly not the BEST AoE damage power, but it's respectable. (It's not the utterly trivial damage on a Control set's typical AoE immobilize.)

I believe that all sets where the theme HAS a snipe, the Assault set gets the snipe. Energy, Fire, Electric and Psychic all had snipes before their respective Assault sets were made, and those Assault sets got the snipe. Ice, Thorns and Earth snipes don't exist in any set anywhere, so those Assault sets didn't get snipes.

Dark has moonbeam. There's zero reason to think Dark Assault won't have it. (Even if most people don't want it.)

God I hope it's tier7.

I HATE waiting so freaking long to get Life Drain on my Defenders. Hell even at tier7 it's going to annoy me to no end having to wait 28levels for it (29 for some slotting, 31+ for full slotting).

See.... just like Darkness Control... powers that don't make sense to me. Dark has always been a Cone centric theme, and ANY AoE attacks in Dark Assault are likely to be cones. Having a tiny radius PBAoE makes NO SENSE. Just like having a PBAoE Disorient in Darkness Control, where ALL OF YOUR OTHER AoE controls are cones, makes no sense to me.

Mud Pots, for what it is, works alright in Earth Assault cause Earth's AoEs are PBAoE or Target AoE. There's no need to move out of range for Mudpots to actually USE your other dang powers. This is unlikely to be true for Dark.

*Sigh*

Electric Control, yes, definitely.

It's a matter of taste obviously but I'd have rathered almost anything else, and this is my only way to let them know.
One could argue that Beam Rifle and Dual Pistols *are* just variations on existing themes.

Thug MM -> Dual Pistols
Two handguns? Check.

Robot MM -> Beam Rifle
Laser Rifle? Check.

The actual mechanics and play style are very different, but the Themes were already present within the game.

I find Umbral Torrent an excellent power that greatly enhances the survivability of my two Dark/ Blasters. And while there are plenty of knockback haters, there are also plenty of people who like it. Especially guaranteed knockback like Umbral Torrent has.

I would love to have a T9 pet with invisibility so it is really hard to see, and a fear aura. And have it be as huge as possible. A big scary ghost...

I'm kinda looking forward to Death Shroud in Dark Assault. Of course, I intend to pair it with Plant, so melee should be pretty safe.

I'm sitting on a name for a Dark/Psi dominator, too. Wanna test now, please!

Old Life Drain:
1scale damage, 15second recharge, (not sure what the end cost was... I want to say 12 or 13end, but I dunno)

New Life Drain:
1.64scale damage, 8second recharge, 8.53end

Better damage. Faster Recharge. Lower End Cost.

My problem with Umbral Torrent really has more to do with it's cone size (though honestly I don't care for Knockback). It has a very long and narrow cone. This makes it difficult to fully utilize, meaning that even with the guaranteed knockback you still often end up scattering mobs, because you don't hit all of them. This also makes it very clunky to use with the other cone attack in the set, because TT only has HALF the range, and Umbral Torrent only has HALF the width. This means that more often that not you have to constantly reposition yourself just to make full use of your two AoE powers.

For Dominators I think this would only be exacerbated, because they spend a great deal of time in melee, meaning you're going to have to back off practically to maximum range everytime you want to use your damned AoE.

Oh, now THIS is a step in the right direction. Very, very excited about this.

I've been doing the same (name camping) for my future Mind/Dark vampyri Dom.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

Most Assault sets and a couple of Control and Ancillary/Patron sets have at least one cone anyway and a lot of them have different ranges and arcs so I doubt it will be a problem.
