When were certain villain groups introduced?

Some people seem to have a great memory of each issue. I was curious when certain villain groups were introduced. I started in i3 and it seems so long ago!

When were trolls introduced? With the Hollows in i4?

What about clocks? Did the game start with them?

the only group that im familiar with is rularuu which was introduced in i2 i believe

it still amazes me that rularuu are so tough even though they are a very old enemy group

And to go along with this, when was the Shadow Shard introduced? What about Croatoa?

Wow, thanks. I had that question, too. It is a tough group. I wish they were around more--I get so sick of seeing council, council, council...

The Shard and the Rularuu where issue 2 per the wiki and Croatoa was issue 5.. I was a bit off I though Croatoa was 4.

The Hollows arrived in issue 2 as well but no mention of Trolls as a new enemy I guess theyd have to have been around before the hollowing occured.

The council arrived in issue 3 but I cant find any reference to the clockwork being added so.. they have probably been around since the start

It's a stunning show of what they were good at. The Rularuu do a lot of different things that are scary - I spent a lot of time out in the Shard hazard-zone sweeping and some of the minor effects they do were absolutely astounding just in their redundancy.

When the 'easy' mobs you have access to fight are things like the natterlings with their fuse mechanic, you have a really scary faction.

Trolls and Clockwork were both in the game at launch.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Just off the top of my head, these are what I can remember from Launch.

Infected
5th Column
Clockwork
Hellions
Skuls
Vahzilok
Lost
Circle of Thorns
Hydra
Tsoo
Outcasts
Trolls
Warriors
Freakshow
Banished Pantheon
Family
Devouring Earth
Sky Raiders
Crey
Rikti
Prisoners
Nemesis

Hopefully, if I've left something off the list someone will be gentle in reminding me what I forgot.

I think you have all of them listed except that you got the Infected (the guys in Mercy Island) mixed up with the Contaminated (the guys in the old tutorial.)

I do believe that Carnies, Malta, and Knives of Artemis were Issue 1 with Peregrine Island.

Firbolg and Croatoan witches were introduced as part of the first Halloween event as an enemy group preview of Croatoa which I think was Issue 4.

Yeah...after I posted that I was like, "Were there any Carnies before PI/Issue 1?" but couldn't remember...I thought there were but...maybe not

You are correct, it was Contaminated, not Infected.

Didn't miss them at all. As Rajani Isa correctly pointed out, Carnival of Shadows, Malta and Knives of Artemis were all added in Issue 1. Also, Praetorians were added in Issue 1 as were the enemy groups encountered through Portal Corp missions.

Nope, Issue 1. I double-checked this morning to make sure. For once old age didn't play games with my memory.

Ahhh. I've only guessed launch because of an ancient looking screenshot I saw.

I am not only impressed that you listed so many, I am impressed that the devs had SO MUCH at launch.

It still begs the question for me about why so many things involve the council. How cool would it be to jump in a radio mish in Bricks to fight the Prisoners?

It would be terrible XP/Inf rewards; the Prisoners are greatly underpowered mobs for their level and their rewards reflect that.

To get back to the question, most added enemy groups were put in in bunches, at the times you would probably expect. Nearly a dozen each in CoV and Praetoria. From there, some of those groups slowly propagate to Paragon or Primal Earth, when later revamps are done to zones, or missions added.

The only other real additions I can think of were Croatoa (Issue 5), Cimerora, and RWZ. There are other obscure enemy groups like Unseelie and Winter Lords which only show up during Holiday events.

I have no problem fighting less powerful enemies with lower rewards as long as it's fun. My favorite group to fight is Freakshow, and they're definitely on the lower half of the totem-pole. They're just fun and wonky, and I love their 13375P34K. Not to mention it's nice having bosses that can be knocked around (which I've always thought was kind of odd with their size).

It's been already answered that the Trolls were around since day one, but I wanted to add that the Trolls were one of the native groups in Skyway City, since there were so many overpasses and bridges for them to cluster under. It's part of their lore.

The Hollowing was caused in part by Troll activity.

Prisoners xp/inf could be changed, though. My point is just liking more variety.

Now to kind of/sort of contradict what I just said--I don't like that they added random street mobs in places like the Hollows. I don't like seeing so many types. Why did the Lost have to show up?

I'd be in a favor of more variety, especially in radio missions. I personally would like my natural origin scrapper to fight Family through the 40s.

I was glad they eased up some of the mobs and stopped having lowbie missions appear in the extremes of the map, but I'd also prefer the Lost out of there.

Currently though, Prisoner minions of your level con blue and reward as an underling... the rest follow suit.

Lost are homless, and the south end of the Hollows IS a park next to skyway. It makes sense. More sense to me than the Coralax anyway.
