Suggestion box / Survey when logging in
I don't log into the game to take surveys, I log in to play the game.
Putting a survey screen up that I have to answer to make it go away is likely to finally drive me away from this game.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
That's what the forum (and exit survey) are for. Use those. The only time I've seen surveys pop up in game is during betas (not COH,) where they're looking for feedback on certain areas under test.
Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
No thanks. I'll go with what the others said.
A resounding, no from me as well. I absolutely despise windows with ads, surveys, etc popping up in my face. This is especially true if it is something I am paying for. Now I would support (and likely participate in) a survey done through the forums, or in a forum post with a link to one of the survey sites on the net, just don't force it down my throat and allow me to do it at a time of my own choosing.

I could see this as part of the paragon market. Where there is a tab that says Weekly/Monthly Survey (or something like that). So IF you wanted to take a survey/poll you could.
This way it's not something people are ever forced to see/do.
When you file a bug you can also select an option to give feedback. I sometimes use that to let them know if I like something and why, or if I didn't like something and why.
I do like the idea of surveys in the market though.
In all my years playing this game I have yet to see the game developers give out a in game survey.
It would be nice if the they would poll players when first logging in what they would like to see changed. Maybe have a bunch of questions with radio button choices based on the most common complaints, issues and ideas and see what the player base would like. Every so many weeks or months you can pick up a different topic. I clearly understand that everyone would like to have everything working great, but maybe there might be some misconceptions or just complaints from more boisterous players which muddy up some of the real issues. My idea basically is once you log in you get a survey screen that you must answer to make it go away. Maybe a small box on the bottom for a comment about something that was not listed in the survey. For answering the survey you get some market points as a reward and for the inconvenience. Again its just another tool for developers. |
I know that there are a ton of players who don't read, don't post and dont' even know that there are forums. Some of them are new vips, too.
It would be a lot more convenient than coming here, digging through all the muck and trying to find out where to post such things.
My only concern would be that some people might skew the results by answering just haphazardly without even reading the questions.

@Ukase
I think it's an excellent idea, with one change. The player should be able to just close the screen without actually taking the survey.

Perhaps Going Rogue could have been a much better, all around experience if there was a window directing people to take a survey on the site.
I'm pretty amazed that so many people on this thread are opposed. If you don't want to get involved and provide input, don't complain about the product afterwards. I am quite sure many players never visit the forums or site so having an info window directing them to a survey would be a great idea.
Going Rogue may have been a better experience if we were able to vote on the content. If you go through Praetoria zones today...well...it is a ghost town. This isn't a surprise considering the mechanics of it and separating the players yet again. The art assets from GR could have been put to better use by having unique mission/tf/trial maps. Maybe some exotic maps or some really interesting places. Ah well, dare to dream
The fact that many players never go to the forums is their choice. They know the forums exist and how to get here. They aren't ignorant, they simply don't want to get involved. Forcing them to fill out a survey every time they want to play is just going to drive people away, and if the devs made it so it was an option players could choose to answer you'd just find that a very small minority of the player base will use it as the majority of us will ignore it and skip past it as we login to play. No, this is a horrible idea and would be a complete waste of resources and time.

Many players ignore the site for various reasons. If they are directed to a survey specific section or interface then that may alleviate many concerns (concerns like too many posts, where would I look etc).
I don't see how this would be a waste of resources. Do you think, just maybe, completing the first 3 zones in Praetoria may have been a bigger waste of time? I do. These zones are ghost towns. They were fun for a bit but many simple flaws could have been prevented. So, yeah, I have to completely disagree with your rationale.
[QUOTE=TheJazMan;3988238]Nobody is forcing them It would be a survey that would potentially impact every player. All it would be is: Hey, survey up. Take 5 mins and let us know where you want this game to go. That type of thing. If they want to then great and if not then so be it.[quote]
If they have to complete the survey in order to log into the game you are forcing them to do something they don't want to do, and it will drive people away from the game. If it's an option they can ignore then most of them will indeed ignore it which means the entire effort was a waste of time.

You mean the truth as you see it??? LOL. Where on Earth did ANYONE suggest making it mandatory to take the survey??? I love it when people conveniently add 'facts' to 'support' their position! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I indeed had a good 'haha' over this. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Since it's pretty obvious that Jaz has a problem reading the OP's original post, we might want to boldly emphasize exactly where the OP suggested the survey be mandatory so Jaz can find it amongst all those hard to read one and two syllable words.

Anyway, I am all for a message screen that pops up when you log on directing you to a survey or has some quick questions at the log in part.
I know many of the children that play this game will enter into a nerdrage if they were made to fill out something that would impact the future of this game; I know they would rather rage when things get added that 'nobody' likes. I am sure this is the same thought process that goes through the mind of people who don't bother to vote of just give up and don't even make an effort to cause any change. I am the change I want to see made

Maybe even ONE SIMPLE yes/no or multiple choice question would even be tolerable, but an entire survey is un-acceptable.
I would like them to get a poll set up though. Since they're going to be adding powers often. put a list together with the numbers and let the players choose what powers they would like to get first.
recent activity example:
Titan weapon,
street justice,
staff fighting.
I would've polled for staff to come out first, then titan, then street ... maybe not street at all. :P
