Important news from beta concerning bases!
While this is a move in the right direction, I really hope this is not the only thing they will do for the base building community... it's obvious they know we are here, they have featured base work in the past... Not committing to the happy dance over the devs putting a band aid on a broken leg... just saying
It's better to save the Mystery, than surrender to the secret...
The upgrade has hit the live servers. Oh yes, this rocks! Heh, I am 90% done with my first base ever. It would have been SO much easier, but in a way I'm proud of all the work I did the hard way. lol Still, I am NOT complaining, better late than never. The last few rooms will be MUCH easier now! And I'll switch up some angles and such on the rooms already done, at least.

Happiness is a blast.
Be sure to heavily fortify your base defenses
Wow! After all these years, I had almost given up on base building improvements. Great job devs! Thanks a ton!
That was actually my FIRST comment when someone told me about it. "I'm makin' a spiral staircase!"

Prepare for decorated doorways.
All that is planned fails. All that is born dies.
All that is built crumbles. This will always be true.
But memories remain, And that is beautiful.
I have noticed my Veteran Reward base items are now available to be placed from the Room Details tab.

Today's beta patch notes yield, literally, a revolutionary update.
Base Editor: Free Vertical Placement and Rotation Added the ability for players to move base objects horizontally and rotate them about the vertical axis freely. While placing an object, if the player holds SHIFT, they can move the object vertically. Once placed vertically, if they wish to move the object again and maintain the vertical placement, they can hold the CTRL key. If they do not use the CTRL key, the object will snap to the first encountered ground the cursor is placed over. If the player holds ALT, they can rotate the object about the vertical axis. |

Happiness is a blast.
All I can say is when the real base love comes (npcs, raids, IoPs, market, tailor, new tile sets, water, lava, doors, elevators, missions for mission computer, arena kiosks)------I will

I had been using shoji lamps to bring wall items out, what is the cubicle technique? Which item specifically do you use? I'm on vacation Right now, so I can't actually look at the list.
I can't believe there has (maybe) been an easier way to do this...

I use them to mount beacons on telepads.
You place the telepad wherever you need it, then place the cubicle where you need to mount the beacon. Mount the beacon to the cubicle wall and then take away the cubicle.
You wind up with things like this:
You can also mount the beacons and other wall items to things like the glass supergroup dividers too.
Basically you can use cubicles as "wall" surfaces.

That is brilliant! Thank you so much, I wish I had known that years ago! I have my TP beacons like that, only I did it the hard way.

You're probably going to punch yourself with how easy it is.
Note: For things like telepads where you want the beacons at a specific height (like Tech pads so the beacon doesn't clip with the bases), you can float the cubicle traditionally.
And I honestly had no idea of any kind that the Devs might be working on doing what it looks like they now are with respect to Z-axis movement control, let alone item rotation around the vertical axis. So it's not like I had insider knowledge or anything about these developments (on the part of the Devs).
