I've been meaning to get back to my base editor proposal thread, but I've been spending all my time lately either trying to keep up with the Titan Weapons Feedback thread in the Beta Forum (Synapse wasn't shy about replying) or getting off my duff and doing all the new/old Halloween Event stuff (trick or treat and up) for the new characters I've rolled up this year and doing the Kane Mansion with all my 50s ... that I just haven't had time to get back it.

And I honestly had no idea of any kind that the Devs might be working on doing what it looks like they now are with respect to Z-axis movement control, let alone item rotation around the vertical axis. So it's not like I had insider knowledge or anything about these developments (on the part of the Devs).

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

While this is a move in the right direction, I really hope this is not the only thing they will do for the base building community... it's obvious they know we are here, they have featured base work in the past... Not committing to the happy dance over the devs putting a band aid on a broken leg... just saying

Nope.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

Spiral staircases, anyone?

That was actually my FIRST comment when someone told me about it. "I'm makin' a spiral staircase!"

The upgrade has hit the live servers. Oh yes, this rocks! Heh, I am 90% done with my first base ever. It would have been SO much easier, but in a way I'm proud of all the work I did the hard way. lol Still, I am NOT complaining, better late than never. The last few rooms will be MUCH easier now! And I'll switch up some angles and such on the rooms already done, at least.

Wow! After all these years, I had almost given up on base building improvements. Great job devs! Thanks a ton!

My first thought was angling pieces into doorways the same way I've done for wall items in the past. Sure enough, the placement boxes work the same way for floor items as they did on wall items.

Prepare for decorated doorways.

All that is planned fails. All that is born dies.
All that is built crumbles. This will always be true.

But memories remain, And that is beautiful.

I have noticed my Veteran Reward base items are now available to be placed from the Room Details tab.

Base Editor: Free Vertical Placement and Rotation

Added the ability for players to move base objects horizontally and rotate them about the vertical axis freely.
While placing an object, if the player holds SHIFT, they can move the object vertically.
Once placed vertically, if they wish to move the object again and maintain the vertical placement, they can hold the CTRL key.
If they do not use the CTRL key, the object will snap to the first encountered ground the cursor is placed over.
If the player holds ALT, they can rotate the object about the vertical axis.
OMG, I think I'm going to be able to die now, they're working on Base Content!

Yeah I noticed I could get some things to stick a ways into walls now. Makes sense that would translate into doorways, too. I hadn't yet discovered angling wall items into there, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Between that and the new tools, how far into a doorway have you manged to place things? Have managed to downright decorate a doorway well into it, or just on the edges? And pics of your results? Would be inspirational, I imagine.

I had been using shoji lamps to bring wall items out, what is the cubicle technique? Which item specifically do you use? I'm on vacation Right now, so I can't actually look at the list.

I can't believe there has (maybe) been an easier way to do this...

Basically you can use cubicles as "wall" surfaces.

I use them to mount beacons on telepads.

You place the telepad wherever you need it, then place the cubicle where you need to mount the beacon. Mount the beacon to the cubicle wall and then take away the cubicle.

You wind up with things like this:

You can also mount the beacons and other wall items to things like the glass supergroup dividers too.

That is brilliant! Thank you so much, I wish I had known that years ago! I have my TP beacons like that, only I did it the hard way.

Here's a quick vid demonstrating it too.

You're probably going to punch yourself with how easy it is.

Note: For things like telepads where you want the beacons at a specific height (like Tech pads so the beacon doesn't clip with the bases), you can float the cubicle traditionally.
