Why the Paragon Devs are the Best Around...

I complain a lot.

One might think I'm terribly dissatisfied with the game.

While I am currently not very happy with a few portions of it, I have to say that I'm actually very happy with it. On a Customer Satisfaction scale of 5 (since so many businesses are using them now), I'm at about a 4.

Why?

Paragon Devs LISTEN to their players. Since Issue 6 or 7, they've demonstrated again and again that they religiously poll the players for concerns, ideas, feedback, and constructive criticism.

This is a very good thing.

Right now is a good time to watch this happening since it's floating at the top of the dev digest. If you haven't read the Dev Digest recently, now's a good time to do so. It's currently full of posts by Synapse as he goes about balancing a new powerset with feedback from players who are testing it. The other big posts in there are from Positron and the others as they talk about balancing and rebalancing new Incarnate content based on player feedback.

So when you have concerns about the game, POST THEM. The Devs DO listen!

Truth FTW.

The elimination of the 15 Empyrean Merit unlock cost on the new Incarnate Powers, as well as the reinstated BAF and Lambda rewards are prime examples of this. Not to mention the changes that they are making to the Keyes Island trial based on player feedback over the past few months.

There's a reason I continue paying my subscription, even now that we have the option to play without paying...

I have to agree with this post 100%. The Devs do not listen when it comes to these areas of the game. PvP is broken, the AE is worthless now due to the Legal Filter on it, and Bases have been ignored so long they are practically useless at this point.

My 2 cents.

I agree that they listen and I will applaud them any day of the week for it.

I also agree that for a ridiculously long time PvP and bases have been floating in the wind, for which I blame a lack of resources. I mean if I had X issues to fix, I'd assign the most cost return worthy and under the current circumstance, that's PvE. AE has been undergoing some real trouble as of late due to that filter, but tbh I don't blame the Devs for that, I blame corporate and the lawyers, if I'm wrong...meh I am willing to give them more time and I've frozen my writing of anything in there for the past few issues as I wait.

Does Paragon Studios and their relationship with NCSoft need to be enhanced in a positive way, regards resource allocation and perhaps better analysis of player concerns.. I'd say yes. But they're overall better than their competition, even if they might not have the resources to move on items as swiftly.

agreed on bases 100%..this is WAY too long on updates that would be easy to do.we just want some of the stuff already in the game. its a more simple process then creating new stuff. just give the correct access to some of the stuff already ingame and people will be happy!

as to pvp..well thats just a waste of time..since they clearly dont even know where to start. then add in their favorite pets and suck ups to beta test it.oh sure one time they brought a couple pvpers in to help. but by the finished product of the last redo of pvp they clearly didnt listen to those players and we lost quite a few subbed players to that "change"

id personally love for posi and a few of the real devs to come see us on freedom in r.v...love to gank them and show them just how not fun they made it.but i know itll never happen

On the contrary, I believe they do listen. They just don't have the time to spend on what are fringe issues for abandoned features.

For me, it's the inclusion of staff weapons.
I love that they're working on this now as it was being asked about for awhile.

Yes, you're absolutely correct.

But we didn't abandon them.

There are some small tweaks to the base editor in the latest I21.5 patch on Beta server.

There are also some big reward changes for the tougher Trials, including an automatic rare or very rare drop for completing the Underground Trial.

On beta now:
Base Editor: Free Vertical Placement and Rotation

  • Added the ability for players to move base objects horizontally and rotate them about the vertical axis freely.
    • While placing an object, if the player holds SHIFT, they can move the object vertically.
    • Once placed vertically, if they wish to move the object again and maintain the vertical placement, they can hold the CTRL key.
    • If they do not use the CTRL key, the object will snap to the first encountered ground the cursor is placed over.
    • If the player holds ALT, they can rotate the object about the vertical axis.

And this is for the Incarnate Trials:

Quote:
  • Players now once again gain Empyrean merits for their first daily completion of the BAF and Lambda Sector Incarnate Trials.
  • The drop rate of Rare and Very Rare Incarnate Components has been increased for the final encounters of Keyes Island Reactor, TPN Campus, and Minds of Mayhem.
  • In an effort to strike a balance between rewards, effort, risk, and time invested in Incarnate Trials, mid-trial component rolls have been added to the more challenging trials. This reward roll has a moderate chance for Rare/Very Rare components. It has been added to the following trials:
    • Keyes Island Reactor, after successfully recovering control of the Central Reactor.
    • The Underground, after defeating the Lichen Infested War Walker.
    • TPN Campus, after defeating Maelstrom for the second time.
  • The Underground Incarnate Trial will always award a Rare or Very Rare component after successful completion of the Avatar of Hamidon encounter for players who are present for the entire event's duration.
  • On the Keyes Island Trial, players who are defeated by Disintegration during Anti-Matter's Molecular Stop power will no longer trigger Anti-Matter's heal from a Disintegration defeat.

Have they fixed the broken SG emblem items yet? It's disheartening at best to go into a base with hundreds of copies of your SG symbol (infinity) built into different surfaces and items, only to see it replaced with a biohazard symbol and to have absolutely no recourse except to rebuild the base without any use of SG emblems. A bug that probably happened because some dev screwed up a pointer into a list and can't be bothered to go in and fix it.

Y'know though, this is exactly the reaction and level of insight i was expecting from you.

You: Dey never improves anything! Dey suxxor!
Someone else: Here's a fix and/or improvement coming soon.
You: Yeah, so what? Ain't nothin'.
*pause for a few beats*
You: Dey never improves anything ever!

And that's why i usually pay you no mind. (That and your writing style gives me a headache if it's more than the usual three or four sentence fragments.)
