Help me build a jarhead that's not cliche

I had a completely different idea in my head than what this topic actually dealt with. Whoooops. Moving on now.

Well, if you can think of a reason the vampire would leave the tank of holy water attached that keeps his head from regenerating, or why it is there in the first place.. eh, probably too many no-prizes needed to flesh that one out in any usable way.

Edit: though I suppose the constant burn of the water could be his or her concept of a "hair shirt".

Wait... That's not what I meant, but WOAH! A Vampire brain attached to someone else's body! OK, this I LOVE! Thank you!

The costume will be a bit tricky to make to not look too generic, but the idea is just golden. Wow, thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for!

Heh. I have to admit that when I first saw the Think Tank costume piece, the first thing my brain did was come up with a Monsieur Brallah fusion concept.

I guess that is one way to get around the "can't be in sunlight" restriction, heh.

You just needed a catalyst to jar your brain into a eureka moment. Glad you found a way to make it work from all the brainstorming.

Hmm, brain in a jar, storm powers.. naw, I have enough alts.

This reminds me of that old "dystopian future" commercial from I think one of the RoboCop movies. In that movie, the ozone layer is nearly gone so sitting out in the sun is deadly, but the rich corporations are marketing a "factor 9000" sunscreen lotion that is effectively like covering your body in blue tooth paste.

The reason I bring this up is it gives me an idea - what if the brain is all that's left of the vampire and it's being suspended in a solution that's not meant to sustain it, but rather to protect it from the sun, shield it from holy water and ward against crosses and such? I mean, you can still theoretically break the bowl, but that's not as easy when it's an inch thick and made of bullet resistant reinforced glass, and spherical, to boot

OK, this idea is getting better and better.

I'm not sure if that's genuine surprise or sarcasm, but thank you, Arcana. That made me smile

And while I've not yet started work on my jarbrain vampire (as I've already made more than enough new characters), I will definitely move forward with it when time permits. I really love that idea, absurd as it may be.

This is what I did with my Bots/Dark - iMaid is driven around like a car by dust bunnies that were under a bed long enough to attain sentience.

Although that would make an entertaining jokename character -- take your pick of archetypes/powersets that would be appropriate for a soldier, make up the body with the typical soldier's uniform, with the bell-jar head, and name them 'Jarhead'...

As for your question, I think it might help to wait a few months, until you're not One More Jarhead in a sea of them. That tends to make anyone feel a little less "unique".

Yeah, they took all the eyes options out in the brain jar auras.

Otherwise you could build something like this:

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

But it also diminishes the scope of the accomplishment. I like to feel like I've come up with something that's unique because other people haven't thought of it, as opposed to because other people are over it by now. Mind you, I'm not complaining, but my brain just requires something like that to work right

That's totally not what my brain requires to work right, but I'm right there with you on wanting to be happy with creating the character that you're playing. FWIW, I actually like how the empty jar appears to be completely invisible, and that combined with the auras you've shown have given me quite a few ideas about cool things I can try. Thanks.

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

My idea was inspired by Gyro Gearloose's Little Helper. It's a Jarhead robot, yes. Sorry. But it's different, gosh darnit.

Basically, the smallest body you can get. Empty tank for head, with a glowy yellow head aura. Voila, human lightbulb!
