What happens if you "choose nothing"

With the recent "breakage" of the SSA rewards making it impossible for anyone below lvl 20 (and who hasn't invested 2 days of tip missions) to get alignment merits from the SSA's, what happens if you "choose nothing" as your first time reward? I have a character that I finished the arc in and have the reward window open but havent picked anything since I was anticipating an alignment merit. If I choose nothing will I be able to get the "first time" reward if I run it again after ive reinforced her alignment or does choosing nothing just waste the chance for reward?

Wow! That's a good question. I wish I knew the answer. I may try and test it, and if I do I'll let everyone know. Too bad it'll take a couple of days for me to run that test even if I start now (which since I'm in the forum and not the game is unlikely).

If it follows the pattern of other reward tables, choosing nothing is a choice. You don't get a second chance.

Does the x4 reward merit still give 20 merits? I know it is not what you where hoping for, but it is also not completely useless.

It still allows you to choose the 20 merits.

That said you'd be better served by simply waiting till lvl 20 and have reaffirmed your alignment before you ever touch an SSA. Otherwise you'll "waste" your first time reward on something much less valuable.

Don't reward windows like that usually come back after logging out?

I wonder if it's possible to avoid selecting anything until after you make it to level 20 and complete the morality mission...

This is true, but fairly sad. Not like there was an embarrassment of riches as far as good choices to begin with for sub-50 alts. But, the 1st SSA was pretty decent XP for the lower level alts, but now if you make the most out of the XP of it by running it early, you penalize yourself on the reward table. If you wait till you are post 20 and reaffirmed as an alignment, then you'll get less bang for your XP buck.

Really not sure why the devs felt this change needed to be made, but I don't much like it.

Yes, the window sticks around, but it's annoying to have it floating around all the time - and it re-centers everytime you zone...

Yea it really is a shame they felt the need to make everything so inconvenient now. With that said... xp can always be gained and especially at low lvls (DFB is basically an easy road to 20) you don't need much of it. I'd say that holding off and getting the alignment merit at 20 after reaffirmation is the more prudent choice and will have far more reaching affects on your character.

If you wait to do the SSA's till you reaffirm then you can get yourself some nice stuff that will last the life of your character. Like -KB IO's or a Stealth IO for sprint. If you wait till 22 you can get your character their first lotg (assuming they need it).

I'd say that's worth far more than a bit of inflated xp at levels when you don't need anywhere near as much to advance.

Well, sorry to read that I'm not the only one who didn't read that patch notes.

I sent a PM to Avatea asking that if a reward table that we're used to gets changed like that, then could they let us know within the game, rather than it be a surprise.

It'll probably never happen, but it doesnt' hurt to ask.

It does make sense, though, sort of. But I don't like it either.

I don't get why so many people don't read the patch notes then act like its the devs' fault when they don't know about a change like this... Everyone should -always- at least skim patch notes every patch. If nothing else, so they're not caught unawares by such changes.

You're assuming that everyone is aware that the patch notes exist.

I advised someone to look on the forums when they had a question I didn't know the answer to. They actually said "This game has forums?"

There are a LOT of people in the game that won't be reading the patch notes simply because they don't know they're there.

Given that patches are normally for fixing broken things, one could sensibly assume that the devs would intentionally screw up something that was working fine just for ***** and giggles.

The patch notes on this change in rewards for the SSA also don't tell you much. Just says you have to have a "confirmed" hero or villain. I assumed that having the frenzy power and tip mission badge was confirmation enough that my level 50 toon was a villain - but that is actually not the case. So even reading the patch notes aren't much help with this.

Being able to get an A-Merit at level 14 was obviously broken and had to be fixed. That said, it appears it is now broken in the opposite direction. I'm almost afraid to go try it now after all the reports.

how was it obviously "broken"? you could get A-Merits without ever running a tip mission before, cost 50 hero merits and 20 million

Why is it broken to be able to get A-Merits at 14? Hell prior to this patch you could get them via the SSA at 10. And again, how is that broken? I think you've just misunderstood that because a-merits can be earned(Not bought) after running the morality missions which you can only get after level 20, that you think only level 20+ characters should be able to get them.

Like someone else said you can still buy them at any level so long as you've got the inf, reward merits, and are either hero or villain.

Well, considering the launcher notifies you when there's a patch AND has a link on it that says, cryptically enough, "Patch Notes", I'd say ignorance of their existence would be the user's own fault...

Well said.

Seriously, why do people NOT read patch notes when patches also close exploits, which are related to bugs, and which people might be using without even realizing it?

Not every exploit is an 'Instagib entire zone' type of thing.
