I wouldnt mind a more traditional superjump, Dont get me wrong i like the CoH one but the one the put in that other game just seems to be the kind of superjump i think of when its mentioned, the CoH SJ i see more as a Glidingjump

Anyone Agree?

Considering I have no idea what you're talking about when you compare it to "that other game's" super jump, I'm going to have to say that I like ours the way it is.

Could you elaborate a bit on what makes it different?

Some of us are happy with this game, and have therefore never felt the need to check out other games. Even those of us who have, haven't necessarily checked out EVERY other game on the market. Saying "Do it like that other game" is meaningless to people who have never played it.

Ever wached a movie with someone in it that has a superjump ability? NC made it so they are more than capable of implimenting it into CoH, I am happy with this game i just think their superjump could be better

Even if i do like it and use it on most of my toons

For those wondering what 'their' SJ looks like;

It's basically the same as ours, except treating your character like they will always way ab few tons and shatter the pavement everytime you land.

In fact, the only one I really liked there was the teleport. Ours is...pretty pants, actually.

We have that already. It's called Leap Attack.

As far as Every. Single. Jump. ending with the "Iron Man" style kneeling fist to the ground, no thanks.

Leap attack isnt used like Superjump, because you cant use it that way plus i dont think the other game's one does damage on landing, also it can be tweaked

Yeah, I gotta say that after watching that video, I like our a lot more the way it is.

I have used super jump in "the other game" and while the physics are far more realistic, I'll take the CoH version as a movement power any day. If the bizarre physics bother you, I recommend rocket boots to explain your abnormal maneuverability.

NCSoft had nothing to do with that other game. That other company split off from NCSoft a loooooong time ago. Paragon Studios develops CoH now. But even if what you said were true, just because you can implement something in a brand new game doesn't mean you can just cram it into an existing game and expect it to work.

All of that said, should the devs every manage to implement power customization/alternate animations for power pools (and thus travel powers), the number one thing I'd like to see is the current flypose emotes rolled into that, and that would also be a good excuse to create an alternate animation for SJ like what you're describing.

Pre-EDIT: Oh wait, I thought you were describing something similar to how the Hulk starts his leaps, but this video from that other game looks pretty much like our SJ except for the landing.

Watching the video... meh. Just an added finishing pose? No, thank you.

While some of it was nifty, the only thing I saw that I think was superior to what we have available, was the Teleport. Much more useful than the version we all know and... tolerate for the sake of theme.

The main thing that defies the laws of physics in CoH super jump is your ability to change directions after you leave the ground. Where exactly is this additional lateral thrust coming from? Rocket boots!
(Yes, they are a purely cosmetic costume piece, but I like my character concepts to make sense.)

IGNORE the finishing pose, i dont want that either, what i am saying is the way CoH SJ takes off is more of a SJ than what CoH have, Also i stand corrected with my point that NC made that other game, thanks for telling me

Considering that other games' Super Jump is what got me to finally rage-quit out of that game (no joke), I have to disagree. Their Super Jump looks incredibly goofy, with the disorientated arm and leg flail, making me feel like every time I jump, it's because someone booted me square between the butt cheeks. The landing is cool... If you're the Hulk, but completely implausible if you're a light, fast, agile character who lands gracefully, rather than plummeting from the sky like a piano tied to an elephant. Sure, I have heavy characters who jump. Three of them, in fact, but for them, I'd rather use some variant of the Seismic Path Aura.

What's more, that other games' Super Jump is just horrible to use. It launches you way up in the air, but sends you a very short distance horizontally, so you have to jump a lot more to travel a lot less. It also takes time to warm up, so the first few jumps you make are both short and low until you start moving faster, and even at its fastest it's still not very fast. And to top it all off, you don't have all that much control over it.

That power pissed me off so bad I shut down the game and went back to City of Heroes to experience a kind of Super Jumping that doesn't piss me off. Good god that was a horrid experience!

I get what he means, super jumping should be like up into the air fast and down fast. Not up at a sharpish angle and then gliding alongon the way down.

Of course if they gave us glider like wings...

This, especially the part I bolded. If you haven't had a chance to try it yourself, that video doesn't really give you a proper feel for it. Trying to use it outdoors I always felt out of control with it. Trying to get up onto any type of narrow ledge or column was a real exercise in frustration. You launch up into the air and come crashing down so quickly you don't have time to exercise any kind of fine control over where you land. It is probably quite a bit closer to "realistic" than the CoH version, but I don't see that as a good thing.

I'll take our version which allows me to see where I'm going, appreciate the scenery, avoid accidentally landing in the middle of hostile mobs, and land exactly where I choose.

I did a little experiment last night to see if rocket boots actually work the way I thought they did, and they don't. That is, the rockets don't animate when you super jump. I guess some other rationalization will have to be found for anyone bothered by the physics.

Still, having tried both games' super jumps, I would respec out of it if we had to use the version that appears in "the other game".

Rocket Boots only animate when flying. The piston boots do animate when jumping, but that's mostly a landing thing.

Okay, if you had mentioned THAT at the beginning, maybe more people would have understood what you were going for. When you make a vague suggestion, don't be surprised when people don't understand exactly what you're getting at. If you were only talking about the speed of the jump, and not the jump itself, then why would you say that you want our SJ to be more like their SJ, instead of wanting our SJ to behave like their SJ only in terms of the speed of assent/descent?

Making a clear suggestion is the first step.
