They're sympathetic. But they're going to CONTINUE to schedule their downtimes during what the EU contingent regards as "primetime". Their data shows it's the statistical "low ebb" point for population and allows them to keep a semi-reasonable schedule for employees.
Take a look at today's UStream. They address it directly and pretty much say "It is NOT going to change."
As I've said, at some point, a choice has to be made. They've done so. If this inconveniences you and incenses you to the point of quitting, so be it. It sucks, but there it is.

Your NCSoft account is linked to one email account.
I gaurentee most people aren't blocking their MMO via spam filter on their primary email account.

Nothing you've proposed is even a remotely good excuse to NOT have taken the 15 seconds it would have taken to send out an email. You're 'reasons' are quite frankly irrelevant. It's common courtesy.

Specifically, the last double XP Weekend... I think I got an email that Sunday or Monday following it saying that I should login and play and yadda yadda yadda.
It wouldn't have hurt if they sent out emails but I don't know how much good it would've done either.

Without access to actual subscriber numbers, you could probably say you're a portion of the community. How LARGE a portion is entirely debatable though. Additionally, it has been spelled out, the downtimes during EU primetimes are still STATISTICALLY affecting the lowest number of players. This argues as to how large your portion is. 1) Did you even READ what i posted? My post stated that i believed that the "i want money back" was over reacting imo.
2) I think i have a much better view of how many are EU players than you since you know . . . i myself am an EU player and know quite a large number of EU players.
3) Whatever that number of EU players is, its a number large enough to hurt their wallets.
4) The game had zero warning that the month of september would be "downtime month".
5) You, out of everybody in this thread, seem to have the least clue here about the actual situation. You say we dont have any idea what they're doing, how do you know i didnt watch the ustream too and just like you because of it know it all?
6) Because statistics show we are lower than NA primetime you saying our number of players is low? Seriously are you even remotely serious? The number could be 51/49 and we'ld be the lower number. You sir, stink of "elitist".

My point stands. You were never promised unfettered access to the game during maintenance windows of ANY sort.

Were you ever told that you would be compensated for that downtime, in the history of the game? Did the devs ever state (or imply) that you would have access to the game whenever you felt like it, on your schedule?
No? None of those things occurred?
Then they don't OWE you a damn thing.
I'm sure you'd all rather they keep the servers up indefinitely so no one "loses money" by not being able to play. Have fun with the game being down for days and potentially losing information when the servers crash because they put off doing things to prevent that from happening.
Necessary upgrades cannot be postponed indefinitely. If what they are doing is indeed physically moving the data to brand spanking new servers, then the servers were probably delivered yesterday. That's why there wasn't more notice, because they didn't want to announce a specific date to do it and then have something happen that prevented it from happening that day. Like the new servers not showing up when they were supposed to, for example.
What is happening in this thread is very much like what happens to me at work. Okay, I'm a janitor at a college. Pretty much every day someone tells me that I can't close a bathroom during school hours in order to clean it. When I don't close the bathroom, quite frequently the same person will accost me and tell me that the bathroom is disgusting. Well, if you'd let me close it to clean in there, it wouldn't have been disgusting, now, would it?
People have been complaining for a while now about how buggy and laggy the game has been lately. The the same people turn around and complain when the devs shut the game down for an extended period in order to fix it. You can deal with the extended downtime, or with a buggy, lagging game. What you seem to be expecting, no downtime and a perfectly functioning game, is an impossibility.

Your saying everybody in the EU is wrong to complain. You are yet to get a valid reason for EU players not to complain other than "because i said so" yourself.

You are digging deep for those aren't you?
Not to mention a couple spam-bucket accounts.
Some of them I don't check but once or twice a month. As they don't see anything legitimate that often. But I still have to maintain them separately.
I am NOT a prolific e-mailer, outside of my day job. In fact, I'm not really all that prolific at my day job either and our software supports "under the hood" e-mail with notifications. We actually do the majority of our inter-office communications via IM.
