Master of Keyes - September 25

This Sunday I'll be hosting badge runs for Master of Keyes Island Reactor. The four badges required for this are:

  • Anti-Anti-Matter: Reduce Anti-Matter's health to less than 10% at Reactor Hope (first).
  • Bunker Buster: For each bunker near Reactor Infinity (third), destroy all three doors within 3 seconds of one another.
  • Avoids the Green Stuff: Don't allow any player to be hit by the Obliteration Beam.
  • Loves a Challenge: Don't allow any player defeats or destroy any of Anti-Matter's regeneration terminals during the final battle.
  • All badges award upon successful completion of the trial.
I'm planning to do at least two runs, splitting the badges between them (Anti-Anti-Matter and Green Stuff first, Bunker Buster and Loves a Challenge second) and going as long as I can and there's interest.

Please color Rebirth destinies, and other powers which could cause confusion with the Obliteration Beam's targeted area, to anything but green.

Pocket D, Sunday, September 25, 4 PM EDT.

Edit (9/23): Signups above have been updated; I think I got everybody.

Also, I've noticed my characters' powers have reset to their default a couple of times (on one costume only; different each time), so if you've got powers that default to green, please double-check that they're changed shortly before the trials.

I can't guarantee that I'll be available, but if I'm able to I'll show up in Pocket D around this time in case you need more. That said, these usually have good turn-outs so you may not need my help. Good luck.

Me please

I left for a while after Keyes arrived, only ran it three times. The third time was me teaching a PUG league on Virtue how to run it, so I do remember the general idea.

Only thing I'm not clear on is the no defeats - is this for the entire Trial, or just the final battle?

Just the final battle, you can't be defeated at all during the battle with Anti-Matter, and you can't destroy the regeneration terminals.

Oh good. Can people die earlier and stay dead for Veng then?

Did leagues ever get into a routine of running Keyes like the other two? From what I remember around late June it just looked like this trial was ridiculously over-engineered and people would never get into a daily habit of running it.

What's in the final battle? something like:

1) +/- charges get assigned to players and the two types should try to stay away from each other
2) Green laser of holdy holdy doomsauce
3) Time stoppage
4) 3 healing terminals
5) Decay for not moving
6) One person randomly disintegrating
7) Everyone taking periodic damage (or does that stop in the final phase?)
8) Timer

That's almost enough effects to create a new powerset. I just couldn't imagine anyone choosing that experience over a BAF or Lambda

You pretty much sum it up nicely -- good memory. It's not run as often as BAF of Lambda. That said, it actually can be run fairly easily by a team that knows what it's doing, in 20-30 minutes, about the same time as Lambda.

But, the devs bumped up the Empyrian merits to two (for first completion in a 24 hour window) in a bid to get more players to run it.

Personally, I enjoy the Keyes. I didn't at first, admittedly, but now that we've got the routine down pat, it's a fun trial to run.

Once you finish the last reactor, the pulse damage gets permanently disabled for the rest o' the trial.

I would hazard a guess that this would fail it. Similar to how you auto-fail one of the "old style" Master TFs if someone is dead when it starts. Either way, Veng isn't necessary or even really all that helpful. Very few people die from AM's normal attacks and instead die from the Obliteration Beam or Disintegration.

The first run got Anti-Anti-Matter. The second run failed to get any badges; the one thing I didn't mention regarding Bunker Buster was "no pets," and the result was a perfect demonstration of why I should have.

As for Avoids the Green Stuff, I think we did well overall, with only a couple slips and badly timed time freezes stopping us from getting it today. I misjudged the time on one, and so the beam hit right before the time freeze.

Thanks to everybody who came out, and congrats to those who got Anti-Anti-Matter.

I'm going to try again next week, after Amygdala's Master of the Underground run. I'll get a thread up for it in the next couple days.

Seconded. Thanks for forming this up Placta. I was happy to add the Anti-Anti Matter to my badge roll, but slightly disappointed in the second run failing to get any badge (what is it with Bunker Buster that turns players into dithering idiots? -- I have yet to even get close to a successful Bunker Bust, as they've all failed on the first damned bunker).

I'll wait for your thread for next week's run.

Thanks again!
