I just got a MBP this past weekend and I am liking it so far. Its just kind of hard to play coh using the trackpad. I am thinking of getting another mouse just for this though. Any suggestions? Normally I would just go with a razor naga mouse again but I dont want to spend $100+ just for all those extra buttons. Any suggestions for something good for CoH on mac?

I use a Dell USB mouse that my office had lying around going unused. It's one of the newer ones, so it has a laser tracker, 2 buttons, and a scroll wheel. Honestly, that works just fine. I suppose if you want something specifically for gaming, sure, go fancy. Otherwise, just get the bargain mouse at the electronic store.

I agree, the game is really fiddly on the trackpad.

I just played a bunch last night with an Apple Magic Mouse that I had in my bag. Worked fine.

On other laptops, I've used whatever USB mouse was to hand, and that works fine on the Mac, too.

But the Magic Mouse is bluetooth, and shiny.

I have an iMac that came with the Magic Mouse, but the MM's shape isn't good for gaming. I can game on it fine, but my hand starts hurting after some time since you don't grasp the mouse due to its shape.

So I bought a Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 (big name!). I love it. I use it when I'm on Windows (I prefer the Windows client a thousand times, it never freezes) and I find it very ergonomic. It's a heavy mouse if you plan to take it on the go tho. I find it so comfy that the only reason I use the Magic Mouse on OS X Lion is the support for all the gestures (at least when you install Bettertouchtool, the Apple standard gestures are kinda limited).

Not just gaming, anything! I want to love the Magic Mouse and its touch-sensitive surface, but I have the same problem you do. My hand cramps us really fast using one of those.

I use an old wired Mighty Mouse. In one-button mode (right-click disabled), too, if you can believe that.

I just use a simple Logitech mini wheely mouse :/ occasionally I'll use the track pad when for other things.

The thing about the Magic Mouse is that you can rest your fingers on the touch surface and use the scroll function with your other finger, and it works just fine. So go ahead, rest your fingers. I'm not a power gamer, but I do just fine with it.

Yeah you're right.

While I love all the Lion gestures (I have small hands, so I do fine with the magic mouse as a trackpad and bettertouchtool is a freeware that enables you to use a lot more gestures), after some time, even just surfing the web, my fingertips start to hurt because of the mouse's hard surface. My hand does not cramp but the fingers really start to hurt after about 2 hours.

I wasn't sure it was the mouse but I rebooted into win7 to play a bit and haven't bothered to go back to Lion in 1 week, and using my MS ergonomic mouse, no fingertip hurting. I want to test the magic trackpad because I love Lion's gestures but I always hated notebook trackpads and Apple stuff is expensive in my country (trackpad is about 150 USD) so I'm on the fence about getting one.

I've used a gaming mouse on my MBP, but I've switched to a simple Logitech optical mouse.

The problem with the gaming mouse was that it had much higher resolution and sensitivity than the Magic Mouse or built in trackpad. In OSX you can't set the sensitivity separately for each mouse, so either the trackpad would be really slow, or the gaming mouse would be very jumpy.

Having a normal mouse with comparable sensitivity to the Magic Mouse and trackpad makes that you don't have to adjust the sensitivity each time you switch mouses.

Have you tried using a trackball?

I know a lot of people don't like them, but someone like me with limited desk space loves using them. So much so I can't use a normal mouse for CoH anymore.
