It wouldn't...until you saw it on screen. A scalemail vest with essentially just...clothes? No way will a modern audience raised on X-suits up through to Iron Man armors swallow that look, no matter how faithful. I refer you to the Matt Salinger 1990 movie that looks authentic yet absolutely horrendous at the same time.

The 90s movie suit didn't have scales, the rubber bunched up when he moved and I kept getting distracted by his rubber ears. So I never thought the 90s suit was very faithful at all.

This is a song about a super hero named Tony. Its called Tony's theme.

Can they please take a photo where Chris Evans doesn't have a weird expression?

I, for one, wasn't aware of "alien soldiers" until I just clicked those pictures. I guess that makes sense given how the next season of the animated show looks to be Skrull oriented and Marvel/Disney seems to be looking for "synergy" between the movies and the animated show.

I'm not seeing the "alien soldiers" thing you're referring to Deacon_NA.

I think Hawkeye looks great. Jeremy Renner is spot on for this role in my opinion.

I also thought Cap's costume seems bright compared to the others but I'm sure lighting and sfx will help that a lot.

The 2nd link in the OP is to a photo gallery. Photo #10 has a picture of Thor and Cap with the Cap-tion (heh) of

"Finally! Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans together in their epic superhero glory, battling alien soldiers in The Avengers."

Well, the scalemail doesn't really do him any favors anyway. >.>

Also, who knows if they have their facts straight about the "alien soldiers?" Could mean Asgardians by the movieverse's definition. Unless they're just going to mash all of Millar's Ultimates run into this movie by having Loki work with Skrulls or something.

Regardless of the mail, I think the belt pouches look much better in black leather than bright blue!

I really should do something about this signature.

I believe they can't use the Skrulls proper since they're tied up in the rights to the Fantastic Four, but apparently Ultimate Skrulls are called something else?

For real? Was that mentioned in an article or something or are you just guessing?

And yeah they were still shapeshifters but they were called the Chitauri most of the time.

I always envisioned Cap in something like this...http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...Pinnacle-Armor

A little of both, I believe the article was guessing but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the rights to the Skrulls were tied in with the FF (I'm sure FF3 would have featured them, or at least Super-Skrull, if the second movie had done better).

Not sure what the final characters will be, but I recently viewed online a bit of the filming of the sequence picture 10 was from. The actors were stage fighting a group of stunt men in outfits that reminded me a lot of that worn by Andy Sirkis filming the Gollum stuff. In other words, the outfits screamed CGI. At the time, I assumed it would be CGI armor, like Iron Man, but now that aliens have been mentioned...

They're called MoCap suits (MoCap meaning Motion Capture).
All the different shapes and lines are designed so a computer can follow their movements and lay CGI models over them.

Hmm.. They took the time to inlay the wings in the helmet. That seems like it would have taken twice as long as apposed to just adding the wings as ornaments on each side... fail.

It looks awesome from a side view, but straight on it looks weird.. Then again, maybe it's the off blue the helmet is that's causing the weirdness.

Wing as ornament would likely break off rather easily.

Maybe they should have reversed them then. Have them pop out instead of inlaying them.

/em shrug.

I guess I should be happy they gave us any sort of wings on the helmet.

I think actual helmet wings would look silly in real life.

There is that to consider. Not everything in comics translates well to the big screen.

First X-men movie: "you guys go out in these things?" "You expected yellow spandex?"

or the jokes the made in 2008 Hulk about the stretch pants and how Banner said he'd take his chances rather then wear purple stretch pants.

I dunno. I think they could have made actual wings work. After all, a lot of times it's not a matter of what's being shot; it's how it's being shot.

After seeing those new pics, I like the new Cap costume even less. That thing is fugly. They should have just used the costume from the Cap movie.

I'm liking the Cap costume alright, but the 40s version was superior.

The problem I'm seeing in this an other shots is Chris Evans' posture. He looks like they strapped a 2x4 to his spine. I get the impression the problem is the neck of the helmet. Didn't they have that same issue with the Batman costume, necessitating a redesign of the neck for the last film?
