"Incarnate Shard Bonded" message.

I'm wondering if this is just a weird problem my BF has or if others may have it. He never sees the "Incarnate Shard Bonded" message flash across his screen. He's seen it on mine, so he knows what it should look like. Is there a setting he may have turned off that might fix it?

Has he unlocked his Alpha slot by doing the mission in Oro?

This is the most common reason I find for people not getting those messages...

Can you be a little more specific: Is he actually getting Shards?

Yes, he has his first alpha slotted already. He keeps track of shards by checking his inventory before and after missions and doing the math.

He swears he never sees the message - but he's got a decent sized monitor (20") and his ui isn't shrunken or anything. I was just wondering if maybe it's a glitch for him or if he's just got blinders on. But he can see when recipes or salvage drops, so I dunno.

shard drops while solo are a LOT rarer than shard drops on team, sometimes i can go through 5 tips solo and barely get 1 shard

Don't know of a setting, but I do know there are times it either doesn't appear or it just doesn't "register" with me because I'm in the middle of a fight or something.

It's been suggested they should be a different color, too - that wouldn't hurt.

I *want* to say they'll show up in the combat log (or could be filtered out - rewards, I think? - into their own tab, if he wants to keep track that way.)

I often go a whole session without seeing that message but then look in inventory and see that I've found a handful. My theory is that, in the heat of combat, I only notice the white letter "I" and assume it's a common invention salvage message.

In Paragon City since June 2005.

You can't turn it off. However it's so similar to the common "Invention Salvage Found" message that my brain automatically ignores it along with the salvage message.

I have this same problem. I'll get the red notice of salvage full and then think "how did that happen, I haven't had a single salvage drop the past three missions." And I know I miss the shard notice very often.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Shards do show up under "Rewards" in the logs.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.

This is what happens to me about 95% of the time.
I'll have emptied all the storage on my character, do a few missions*, and the next thing I know, my recipes, enhancements, salvage, and inspirations are full and I'll have gained 5 shards. I'm just too busy doing other stuff to take notice of those messages.

* By a few, I mean about a half a dozen missions with a team of 5. My regular group.

to help determine that it is shard, i purposely let my toons salvage remain full (since salvage is fairly cheap overall i just buy what i need)

if your salvage is full and you see a message can guarentee that it is a shard message

I noticed today, just by coincidence, that I got a shard. I saw it in my combat log, it came right after an invention salvage drop. I never saw it display on screen. On the whole gaming session, I saw that there were 3 that I didn't notice dropping. My guess is, very much like an MSR, when there are a lot of things dropping, we see the first thing, but the subsequent drops are not seen. (at least on my ancient system)
