Talking about something that the devs told everyone about when they announced CoH: Freedom doesn't violate the NDA. So we can say the store is broke, and that emails are broke. Now if we started discussing specific features/items in the store or how much they cost, that would be a problem.
all these ppl coming back to the game... and that was the whole point. but oops wait paying customers still can't access the beta server!
let me tell you, it's not just the NEW paying customers, it's the OLD ones too. I've been a PAYING customer for over a year and am not recognized on the beta server AT ALL.
I appreciate the effort of the coh team but maybe they should try to do less more efficiently. Honestly. Because this is just too frustrating. As a faithful customer I should never have the experience of not being recognized for my patronage, not even for a moment.

It's a beta TEST. The purpose of such things is to have thing break now, so they dont break later on live. Don't take anything that happens that isn't from a
Beta tests are not (according to the real/traditonal meaning) preview event.

So stop acting like a petulant 6 year old with entitlement issues. Your subscription doesn't entitle you to anything more than access to the live servers. The Test and Beta servers are a privilege the devs can deny us whenever they like.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue. Does that mean they turn it off after a bit and turn it back on a certain time the next day? 'cause I downloaded the beta server all last night on my new crappy internet (just moved into new apartment and found the internet sucks, seems time to upgrade) excited to try some of the new stuff, to get up early, and find that i can't get on for some random reason. I've been getting the "public access is disabled" message since Tuesday, August 9. I have been subbed consistently since May, so I don't think the issue is tied to just having recently resubbed.
I have sent a petition, and yesterday I received a response. I was told that they are investigating this incident, but they don't have anything to tell me at this time. I was told they would contact me as soon as they have more information.
I share all of this to let others who are having this problem know that the devs are in fact at least aware of the problem even though they haven't said anything about this on the forums (at least I haven't seen a post addressing the "public access has been disabled"). I hope this satisfies some who are wondering what the heck is going on.
I installed the Beta a couple weeks ago but never started it. I updated today and linked a new account for Freedom to my NCSoft master account. I went to log in and it gives me a popup box stating that my payment for the account is expired but i checked and it not and I can still log into CoH. Any ideas why i cant even log in?
It's going on over 7 hours now that the live server (at least Freedom) has been down. Why should I "not" be upset? I apologize in advance for wanting to play CoH.
Akarah, this thread was talking about access to Beta Test. It sounds like you're referring to today's live downtime

Saw this morning that there was going to be an 'extended downtime' so I did other things.
Now 8 hours later I thought I would have a spot of afternoon CoX. Nope still down. Visit forums - 'Join us on Beta for free codes till servers back up.' Ok I say.
Start my Beta shortcut and find a little 138 Megabyte update needs to be installed for that plan.
ROFL.
Do I gamble that the servers will still be down 6 hours from now? (My connection is not terribly speedy and the NCSoft updater gives that as the estimated time to complete the update.) Or do I hope that one of the servers I play on will be up by 9:30 PM?
I guess if this is the new best response they have to necessary downtime, I'll just have to keep Beta and Test updated more often. A lot more often. After all running two computers all night every few days updating seldom used versions is good for them and the planet.

Ah Ha: Update 1 machine leave the other. In 6 Hrs do something!
Edit: Apparently machine one and the updater are on unfriendly terms. Machine two managed the update in a little over 20 min. But all the characters I had transferred and all the ones I made are gone. It just gets better and better. Bet the queue is enormous, but what the hey, I'll go try it.
ROFLMAO: Since the servers are all down the character copy tool is too. Guess I'll go Make a toon. Hope they are giving out some truly awesome CC codes.

Yesterday evening they announced in game from the ADMIN channel that the beta was being turned off at 7:00 PM Pacific last night and wouldn't be brought back up for playing until 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM Pacific today.
Basically the server isn't letting players in right now even if you can see it sitting there mocking you.
