These look pretty cool, though I'm not sure I'll be able to pick them up with my vet rewards... I'm not far enough along, if I'm reading the Tier stuff well enough. I'll be up for 72 months in August, I think. |
Less NPC, more storyline character who only shows up in cinematics. He's an interesting take on the classic angelic design parsed through Blizzard's eye for design (and they do make some amazing designs), and his "wings" are less actual wings with structure as much as they are an enormous cape of glowing tentacles with which he can stab at people, grab things and even support his weight.
--- Actually, this is probably Tyriel's one real claim to fame all told. And it just serves to highlight how ****** the old FMVs we fawned over really are in retrospect |
Looks like something straight out of a comic book!
Wait...no it doesn't... |
This set reminds me of something from Kirby's New Gods or Eternals! Absolutely LUV it all.
And Beam Guns, too? Wow. Cal |
How much more can they do with spandex though, really? They have a ton of patterns, and honestly, "Hey! check out these new tights patterns!" isn't exactly ComicCon reveal type material...hell,I wouldn't even mention them specifically until the bottom of the page on CoH.com promos if there were new ones (which there may well be) The system isn't set up to handle asymmetry so...what else could they do with spandex?
|
The new Defender set is an overlay of tights, and the IDF does not look anime at all. Just like a futuristic armor set, which is all over in a variety of comics. The glowie costume bits have a Thor and GL feeling to them, which might not be your cup of tea, but calling all this City of Anime is... kind of not accurate.

I have my 48 month badge, currently... Depending on exactly when Freedom hits, I'll probably have my 51 by the time it's live. My sub is actually paid up at this point through July 2012, which I think would be a just past my 60 month badge under the current system.
|
Let's say that in September you get your 51 month badge and then FREEDOM go Live. The Tokens you receive from the Vet System are:
N/3 + N/12 = 17 + 4 = 21. Sept thru July is 10 months for 10 Tokens, and let's throw in a Yearly Token for 11. Being subscribed July through September will not only earn you 1,200 in Paragon Points, you'll also get 3 Tokens. At least, I think you do. That's 35 Tokens. It only takes 34 Tokens to fill Tier 8. That leaves you 1 Token to spend on one of the Three Tier 9 VIP costume blocks. You can wait two more months to get the other two, or, you can add 2 more months to your subscription, or, you can purchase 2,400 Points and get the 2 Tokens that come with it. |
Besides, we all know that almost nothing they do can generate a positive response from you at this point. When proven wrong how the Celestial pieces are indeed reflective of Western Superhero Comic Books, you don't apologize, you change the snark. So, I'm not expecting an apology for your current mischaracterization that this has become City of Anime, no matter how patently disconnected from reality that statement can be proven to be.

I thought this was City Of Trenchcoats?
And yeah... I wish I could get these new pieces and weapons when they come out.
I might be able to swing it, if I want to put down a year's sub when it goes live. Not positive that I want to, but that could be interesting, if the math works out.
Can you do a year, then another 6 months, at the same time? Hehe...
I do, however, also want much more tights/spandex options.
Despite the lousy delivery, I cannot deny my agreement with wanting more for spandex type costumes!
Nothing in the last few Booster Packs has been anime-ish. The original front-load of the majority of the thousand something pieces has all been Western-style super hero comic style. Sure, more can be done, but, they'd be variations on the same themes. Branching out into other areas brings in more variety.
Besides, this isn't City of Western Superhero Comic Books Heroes. Even if it was, Western Superhero Comics is full of examples of adapting styles of other genres. This is City of Heroes, and many genres are welcome. Besides, we all know that almost nothing they do can generate a positive response from you at this point. YOU are rude all the time. You're needlessly snarky and insulting and downright patronizing in just about every post you make and you have the gall to tell another person "to not be rude?" Are you freaking kidding me? Can it be really that possible to be so insurmountably arrogant?
