Aww nuts! You just had to mention it don't you

This is why I prefer to store inf as really low ball bids on expensive IOs

Bingo. I'd be THRILLED if all of my stored influence suddenly turned into purchases. Well, as long as prices recovered from my lowball price, I guess, instead of continuing to go down.

Geesh someone who sells lvl 53 LOTG +Recharge would be the next bill gates if they sold them lol....

I think Posi. is talking about the enhancement booster paragon reward. I counter speculate the devs. are going to let us make a currently slotted level 50 IO +5 somehow, but not let us take it out and it remain +5 to sell on the market. Otherwise everyone in the game could have access to a tier 9 Paragon Reward via the auction house.

I don't know why I thought I was the only one who did this.

So far, I read it as doing the same boost as SOs/HOs - so, + or ++ rather than turning it into a level 51 or 52, and can't be sold on the market (without losing the boost).

Here's hoping I'm wrong so I can buy 51, 52, 53 IOs with my endless piles of fake money rather than with my smaller stash of real money.

I'm curious what a purple single type (53%!) enhance becomes after a +

Because we're ridiculously wealthy and have over the inf cap, 2,000,000,000 inf

Hey those are legitimate bids. As such until the transaction completes the inf is non-taxable under Paragon City Tax Code Section 193, Sub Section 5, Clause H.

Those bids may be non-taxable, but I have a feeling some of you flippers haven't been properly reporting your capital gains. Have you been tracking your cost basis?

This is what I though too when I when I first scanned through Von Krieger's OP, but after re-reading, with intent to quote it in a response to another thread, I decided it was more like this:

Like hell. All appropriate fees are paid every time something is bought/sold.

SO NYAH!

It may be easy to reach, but it's still a ridiculously massive amount of pretend money.

Also if I'm remembering right, 2 billion is effectively a hard limit due to the variable type used to store the value (I'm very, VERY not a programmer type, so my knowledge of the precise variable used is nonexistent).

It is.

2^32 is the maximum size for an unsigned integer on a 32 bit OS (like Windows).

That number is around 4B, but they're using signed integers (ie. they can represent
both positive and negative values), so the actual practical range is ~ -2B to +2B.

As for the OP, I store my excess on other alts and/or as lowball bids on
actual Good Stuff, so if they do clean up 51-53 enhancement entries it
will have no impact on me.

To TopDoc: Taxes? What are those? My funds are kept in some rather
secretive accounts in offshore banks affiliated with the Rogue Isles...
Sure, there may be a little graft and greasing of palms here and there,
but the percentages are far better than those Do-Gooders in Paragon City
would be paying their government...

Easier said than done. They are likely storing the amount of inf in a long integer. The largest number that can be stored in a signed long integer is 2,147,483,647. They round this down to 2 billion to keep it simple. Can you imagine the out roar if people had to remember they were approaching their cap when they got near 2,147,483,647? Besides which, as a safety measure you don't want people to actually be able get to the "real" cap anyway, because if there is an error, it can lead to all sorts of problems. To a computer 2,147,483,647 + 1 equals NEGATIVE 2,147,483,647.

Besides which, raising the inf cap is a bit like congress raising the debt limit--it's a temporary fix at best, and next year, we will be right back here having the same discussion asking why the cap is only 4 Billion.

1) The email limit is 1 inf less than 1 billion inf
2) It goes 'poof' in 59 days...

At around 1 billion per email, you can only store 20 billion in emails. Plus as others have said, it goes away after 59 days, and there are still bugs in the system that make emails disappear.

Finally, every email holding Inf is one less you have for actual email use. I use email for sending rare recipes and salvage to myself. I have a character in a base loaded with Salvage racks that I use to craft most of my stuff. Mrs. TopDoc sends me stuff she doesn't want to bother crafting herself. I send Inf between characters all the time, based on what they needs for builds and marketeering and such.
