Steam Wallet support?

I know some Hybrid model and Free-to-Play games allow their users to purchase store points with funds from their Steam Wallet. Is there any possibility of this being supported for Freedom? It seems like it might be a worthwhile option to consider.

Hi Sermon,

This is an interesting suggestion. I'll take a look, and see if I can find out anything more for you.

Well given that Steam recently made a big deal about now supporting F2P games via the wallet it would seem like a good idea to me.

The next step is then to get Valve to do a TF2/City of Heroes Hat promotion as part of the Freedom launch .

EDIT: I'm actually semi-serious about the hat thing, it would be awesome to do a cross-over where Valve releases some CoH themed hats in TF2 and CoH implements some TF2 themed costume items in CoH. Being able to wear Stateman's or Recluse's Masks on TF2 characters would be very cool and there are a couple of TF2 costume parts that could be remade in CoH (the obvious ones being the Soldier's signature helmet down over the eyes look or the medics backpack). Of course I guess there are a lot of legal implications to doing it so I doubt we'll see it but it would be cool

Do Steam and Playspan get along in... let's say... other places?

As far as hat simulators go, CoH could give TF2 a run for its money.

Here is a link to Steam's FAQ on their support of a few free to play games.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Well they are very different genres. TF2 is a War-Themed Hat simulator and CoH is a Superhero-Themed Clothing Simulator.

Yes, a baseball cap is a fine addition to ANY soldier's uniform! I mean, you go look at the Hats section of the TF2 wiki and most of the hats there are things you'd expect to see in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Not that I'd mind seeing more headwear in CoH, just that a lot of it might not quite fit the theme the devs have for costume parts. Maybe not 'theme', but can't think of the right word. Basically most of the TF2 hats are VERY silly and as we all know, being a super hero/villain is srs bsns.

Synapse's Goggles for the Scout

Statesman's Faceplate for Soldier

Scirocco's Dreadlocks for the Demoman

Back Alley Brawler's Gloves for Heavy (Fists of Steel reskin)

Positron's Helmet for Engineer?

Manticore's Cowl for Sniper

The Dark Watcher's Wide-Brimmed Hat for Spy

I would seriously love this as both a TF2 and CoH enthusiast. I do hope that they at least push CoH on Steam's F2P "channel". It would get the game a LOT of attention.

What about the mallet used by the Carnival Strongmen?

Why not Infernal's helmet and/or axe that's on fire?

TF2 hats are not to be underestimated.

People preorder games and never play them just to get a hat in that game. It's pretty insane. Valve seems to love working with other developers-- especially the smaller ones. I think trying to tie CoH with TF2 would do wonders. A lot of people are playing RIFT now because of the TF2 crossover, and they would have never even heard of RIFT without it.

Just want to emphasize this.

People buy games just to get a hat or weapon for their favorite TF2 class. I don't believe there's a cape available for any of the classes, though. You know, in case you wanted to know.

The Soldier does currently have a monopoly on horned helmets.... However, I don't think Infernal's Axe is distinct enough (well, it's distinct for TF2, I guess, but in general it's rather blah looking). Especially if they just made it a clone of the Lava Fragment.

Speaking of Steam, congratulations to whoever just won a free City of Heroes: Going Rogue in the Summer Camp contest. If you're reading this, come on by and say hi. We don't bite. Much.
