Wait, what happened to the Victorian Steampunk face?!!

This is one reason I'm so angry: we ALREADY HAD a no-makeup Steampunk Pack face. One big reason I bought the pack was for access to that made-up face!
Ahhh... The Victorian Face I *didn't* like had no makeup. I thought it did but I didn't like that face so never noticed that much.

Well...sorry you're angry and empathize with your frustration to some extent (feel it's a bit overblown), but I really love the victorian face this squabble is over. It has just the right eye tilt, full lips, etc, that I've been looking for. No other face looks quite like it does.

You say if I wanted a Victorian face I could have chozen that other one. Here's the deal; I don't want a 'Victorian' face per se, I just wanted that one particular face and it happened to have 'Victorian' labeled on it. I liked it so much I even took it when it had its bright red lipstick, which I detested...and I was quite pleased when they removed it. I care nothing for the other Victorian face.

I'm not sure why they couldn't come with a makeup option that restores the original look you want, but regardless if they do or do not, I strongly do not want the 'default' to be the lipstick. Sorry some go jilted by the same thing that pleased me, but MMOs have a tendency to do that.

Of course if they do restore the lipstick look as the default, I won't throw a Victorian Melodrama hissy over it

Makeup or not, I think the Steampunk faces look terrible.

No question there. I don't know who designed them, but they look like creepy pod people. Especially the women.

You could have, since they are all but identical when both have no makeup these days.

Since none of my alternates are from the Victorian era, the name "Victorian" has no sentimental value for me: this is simply what the face in question was called.

I want the "one particular face" that I PAID FOR. If they make a no-makeup option for people like you who don't like strong makeup, that is wonderful - and we have one in the costume creator as I type - but until then, I want the face that I PAID FOR.

"We have a lot of bad faces in the creator now, so who cares if this one is not not any good, either?" some might say. It is BECAUSE we have so few faces that I find acceptable, that I care very much when one I really liked got taken away from us.

As far as faces that look like "creepy pod people," I could go down the list of faces we have now and pull out at least fifty that meet this criterion to me. I am not agitating for their removal or alteration because creepy and ugly as they might be TO ME, there are no doubt plenty of people who love them.

I dont use those faces, and those who didnt like Victorian Steampunk could have done likewise. /sarcasm: They've done wonders with this pack so far! I wonder what they will break next.

Victorian Classic is my favorite female face in the game. One of those 'Beauty and Beholder' things I suppose...

WINNING!!!!

In fact I think that's what happened: I took my Carnie to the tailor to get that broken corset chest-detail off of her because its ruined now, and she came out with her makeup wiped, too. GOOD GOING GUYS.
You're having a Charlie Sheen sort of day, aren't you?
Presumably with less psychosis, and hopefully far less cocaine.

i sympathize over your losing the face you liked even if i haven't used them yet myself.

Dr. Todt's theme.

The face looks much worse now without the red lipstick.
I think they should add the original face again, then a no lipstick option.
Just like they did with the choker... Even if is only avalaible for standart faces. Damn also they should add the curly hair with no hats...
Steampunk pack needs another patch of fixes add ons.

This is yet another example of the Devs arbitrarily REPLACING one costume option for another. This is yet another case where they should have simply ADDED the new version of the face and kept the original one as an option.

I've never understood why the Devs have felt the need to upset players pointlessly like this. Clearly there are always going to be people who like the original versions of things despite any problems the Devs -think- they are fixing by replacing them with other options. Would it have really destroyed the game to have provided us both versions of this face to choose from?

I think the original makeup was better and it is definitely steam-punk/victorian themed.

It's silly if you think the old make up choices are better than the preset ones. I would rather keep the original and layer it with lighter tones.

Here is an example of what you could do before and you can't now:

The stuff with X are the too red-ish and too light to use. They become too red and it clashes. The lighter skin on the other hand are not very good, especially when you use the old make up like lipstick, Make Up 1, Make Up 2, Make Up 3, Make Up 4, Make Up 5.

The little guide is what we can use for now so it does not look very ugly-ish until the changes.

I don't know what that woman is looking in, but her eyes are pointing in two different directions away from centre, producing a very derpy look. MegaMan demonstrates:

Whenever designing a face with fixed, painted-on eyes, care must be taken to align those eyes such that they appear to focus on a common point at slightly before the maximal distance at which a player can be expected to actually see orientation of the eyes before distance loss of detail kicks in. This makes the person the face is trying to emulate appear alive, because the face seems more real as it tries to actually see. What we have right now is the equivalent of putting a T-spreadeagle character right out of the editor directly into the game - it's very fake very obviously.

Simply put, when I turn my character to look at me, I want my character to actually look at me, not look out both sides of my screen simultaneously.

What they've done today is a slap in the face to Players who like facial options.

And corsets.

Eco.

A slap in the face... Why did I not think of that pun before?

That will be an apt comparison when I go on a months-long polysubstance bender, curse out/racially insult my boss and the boss above her - nay, the entire chain of command where I work - declare two plain-jane prostitutes I've moved into my house to be "goddesses!" *snerk*, go on a BMW-buying binge for everyone of the opposite sex I know, get bounced from my job so hard my posterior leaves a trail of scraped lipids for five full feet of pavement, and other like foibles. This has not happened, so your comparison is null.

I DO NOT LIKE arbitrary substitutions of uglier items for nice items THAT I PAID FOR. Wait'll they nuke something you really liked out of one of these booster packs, and see how you feel about it. Oh but I know, they would not dare ever do that, right?

What I'd like is to stop this from happening again to any of us. Even snarky people. How will this happen without feedback? AND I'd like the original Victorian Steampunk back, but that is almost secondary to conveying the idea that these redactions are not popular with players. ADD OPTIONS do not subtract them! This is basic common sense.

This looks decent, but the other Victorian face, which I much prefer; I couldn't do anything to cover up those bright red lips.

It's interesting that at the time, feedback is how this happened. It was commented in open beta that the makeup options already on the face were messing up the options they were trying to use. The poster requested that it be removed in favor of allowing the players to add their own. It was a respectfully worded request that seemed fine at the time. In addition, there weren't any real complaints about changing it.

I think two things could be done to rememdy this. One would be to add a second face with the original makeup. Another would be to add a new makeup option that mirrors the original makeup. Or both. This was the same beta patch that allow some parts like hair that were baked in to be recolored so it comes down to the concept of adding options. Adding both would give some interesting options since a face with baked in makeup would allow lipstick + a mask while a makeup option would add makeup that's a perfect fit for the face but recolorable.

All the costume parts they changed they should have created alternative versions for insteads.

Especially the hats and what part is colourable.......

I personally think the new one looks terribad.

The old one looked more realistic.

The new one looks like a creature that's strung out on crack cocaine.

You're mileage may vary.

EDIT: They should have had a version without makeup. More options for all.
