2 things: Holy cow. Poison. If this were 2009 I would be all OVER fire/therm for defenders, but I'm still really pleased. Can't wait to see what dark blasters will look like either. |

I'm a bit surprised by nevergonnahappen regen being provided to brutes. I wonder if eventually we will see Dark Miasma for controllers.
It will be interesting to see what yet another try at Energy Aura brings.

EA is changing to be a bit more like ice armor. It's staying at about 52% DDR (86%ish when Overload is up), highly typed defense, some resistance to s/l/e/n (probably going to be 10-15% to each (which means you'll be at about 35% s/l with tough)
Energy drain is essentially turning into Energy Absorption (from ice).
Conserve Power is Energize (copy/paste)
dampening field and energy protection are getting slow and endurance resistance added in,
and entropy shield is getting a taunt aura that increases your recharge based on enemies in range (no specific values yet).
the only +hp the set has is in overload unfortunately, *but* I've already tinkered in mids, and it's pretty easy to get to about 38% +hp (accolades and sets), and overload gives 40% hp at base, which puts you right around cap (for scrappers, +79% is cap), so it all works out.
It's a set that soft-caps fairly easily, especially to energy (which is good for itrials), and it should be able to get to incarnate cap (59%) even more easily because of energy drain. Also it will never have endurance problems because of energize, energy drain, and overload, (post lvl 28, anyway).
The only potentially bad thing about the set is the 52% DDR, but honestly, the set has everything else, so even I can't complain.

Wasn't blown over by the EA changes myself; certainly sounds like a bunch of stuff that will help the set for sure, but nothing OMGneedznow. The EA brute I made long ago was frustrating, and they had made some changes at some point to the graphics where on my (now old) rig, I actually couldn't play him with any toggles running. So I easily just tossed him aside. On the new rig, I should probably try to dust him off with the upcoming release (in October? Lol like I'll remember). He probably still just has SOs slotted. Not a huge fan of typed defense myself, but I like to build a little differently than most.

I really don't want to reroll my Sonic/Therm to a Therm/Sonic. This cash shop better have an AT swap option.
Honest question: what's the appeal of Poison? Even if it gets defender mods (I didn't see Poison defenders announced, did I miss something?), that gives it two solid single-target debuffs, a nice ally rez, and nothing else worth mentioning. I'm all for promoting variety, and there is the new PBAoE toggle to consider, but seems like Poison could use a bit more help.
The updated Energy Aura for scrappers looks dynamite (SR should've gotten that new toggle, though). Can't wait to roll one and check out the updated lowbie content this fall.

Current Poison is 90% great, 10% awful.....it gets exacerbated for MMs if you actually try/want to keep your pets alive. The poison trap is a joke. Would have liked to see that get changed to a hold, but will have to see what this toggle does. The benefits of poison, for the most part, are that you basically neuter the mob to make them little puppies. I duo'd a Thug/Poison (for thematic purposes) and wasn't ever really happy with it; my thug partner made it a lot more fun to stick with at least.
I guess for thematic reasons, at the time, they didn't make it viable for trollers.....where it would have been 99% great and who cares about the pets. I think it'll be very strong with this incarnation.

-Alkaloid: I've increased the potency of this power by a fair amount. -Envenom & Weaken: I've added a small splash around this power. The initial target receives the full effect of the debuff while nearby targets received half of the effect. -Poison Trap: This power now has an initial hold, has a recovery debuff and deals minor toxic damage. |
im very happy for a lot of these changes, i know ill have at least 2 scrappers i can scrap and possibly a stalker ill remake as well
my plans for all of this:
scrap katana/dark scrapper in favor of katana/dark brute
scrap MA/fire scrapper in favor of a fire/MA tank
rework my elec/energy stalker into elec/energy brute
possibly also rework my broadword/elec stalker into a brute
as for new toons go ill try to work something in there with regen brute and maybe a dark blaster
I don't usually disagree with you Voo, actually I usually do agree with you, I just don't post such because you don't need little old me to support you.
I've wanted poison ported to the other ATs for a while as it's always been this mysterious set to me that I've never gotten to play (Ignore that lvl 50 bots/poison mm I have.. I never really played it) so I've always wanted to try it out. I think it would make an excellent addition to our repertoire.
