Issue 21 and Freedom Launch
I thought that it was supposed to launch today. In some of the materials that I read I thought they actually announced the date as July 1st, 2011. I have not noticed any changes as of today.
Anybody else read that? Or am I just going crazy? Rich the Possibly Crazy Guy |

Heard that it will launch around October or November, but I could be wrong. Starting July 1, you get 400 points for every month you are subscribed for. It is one of the perks VIPs get.
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.
They just released 20.5, if they were going to have 21 this soon I doubt 20.5 would exist it would just get rolled up into 21.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

No, it was never going to launch today. Subscribers start accumulating the monthly points stipend today. But we have nothing to spend those points on until launch, which will likely be late summer or early autumn.

Just a bit of clarification. Starting July 1st players with active accounts will be credited with 400 Paragon Points on the date their account is billed for the month.
That means if your account was activated on the 5th of the month you won't get any points until the 5th of each month. Same goes for people that pay 6 months to a year in advance. If their accounts were activated on the 15th of the month they won't get points until the 15th of each following month.

From comments they appear to be aiming for October, but given that it isn't out of beta it could be longer before it gets released.
|
If it's in Closed Beta starting a week ago, and Closed Betas are about 6 weeks and Open are 2 weeks.... then that's September.
I have absolutely no idea why "October" keeps getting thrown around by the playerbase. AFAIK, *NOTHING* has been said to indicate October. And then adding "or November"? Where did *that* come from?!
Listen folks, if you don't know, please say, "don't know."

Besides I indicated my information as a rumor and to be treated as such. Anyone that says that they know when it will launch either knows the future or is mistaken. This even applies to devs since they have their planned release dates that are always subject to change. The more experienced devs never release a release date until a couple of days before it is released.

October appears to be the accepted release date for Freedom, but delays could make it come in November or it could come in September.

That's my point. From my Paragon Studios tea-reading abilities, which are rather uncanny, the ones who originally threw out 'October' and got everyone 'accepting' it were and are very wrong.
If there are people in Closed Beta who have for the past week been playing the new tutorial and ewwing and ahhing over the revised Atlas Park, then October means one heck of a long Beta. Especially since the Devs have been saying that they've been working on Freedom for the past year.

Accepted? By whom?

So yes while closed beta started last week and based on betas that ran smoothly the minimum time we could see it out would be late august. If they run into a need to make changes it could easily streatch into September and wind up released in late September/early October.
If we are playing the guessing game then I'll guess early September. But that is a wild guess based on experience. A solid safe bet is to say it should be out by October. ::Shrug::

I know those arent that similar (20.5 + 21 vs SWG) - the comparison just came to mind.
As for the October or later date - that's being inferred from a comment to someone in a chat about will the player get a certain veteran reward that the current system has out in October for him.

Yes, we read it. I don't think he was saying what you think he was saying.

Also, by the last few issues...
Issue 16: September 15th, 2009
~7.5 months to next issue,
Issue 17: April 28, 2010
~3.5 months to next issue,
Issue 18: August 16, 2010
~3.5 months to next issue
Issue 19: November 30, 2010
~2 months to next major update, ~4 months to next issue
Issue 19.5: February 1, 2011
~2 months to next issue
Issue 20: April 5, 2011
~2.5 months to next major update
Issue 20.5: June 28, 2011
If they hold to the schedule they've been keeping since Issue 17 launched, Issue 21 should hit on some Tuesday from August 2nd to September 20th. Of course, it's also possible that Issue 21 could be a long cycle, as the almost 8 month gap between Issue 16 and 17 gives a vaguely recent precedent for it, but my money is on mid-August, personally.
