In a game with walking trees, there's only a limited difference between the two...

Its possible Silas is tricking them somehow, using his knowledge of the far future to convince each one that Ouro is dedicated to stopping what they consider to be the worst disaster possible.

What if Lazarus thinks the Coming Storm involves the Shivans, Twilight's Son thinks it involves the destruction of the Kheldians (possibly by the Battalion) etc... Each mender thinks they know what The Coming Storm is but each one's idea is different (and unrelated).

Possibly. In fact, it could be the Menders actions that make them related. that would be reasonably cool. A lot hinges on who the letter writter is, and if they are correct or not (or partialy correct).

I think the Mysterious Letter Writer's offer to join him might turn out to be one of those "do you want to get Incanrate power quickly or slowly" kind of situations, where the apparent choice isn't a real choice - because with each new update, it's getting harder and harder to see how they could turn Ourobors into something we'd have to fight against - not only is it out only access to flashback content, they've also added Ramiel and the Alpha slot arc to it, added Prometheus to it, added the Incarnate merit vendors to it, and now they're adding the "echo" of Galaxy City to it - and this is all pretty recent stuff too, added with full knowledge of who the MLW is and how it's play out in the future.

Well it depends on if he means Primal or Praetorian Hamidon. Given the Shivans are attacking Primal Earth, the former seems most likely.
This would open up the plotline of Primal Hamidon's minions falling silent... only to then fall under the control of Praetorian Hamidon.
OH SHI-!!!

We wouldn't have to fight against all of Ouro, maybe just Silas (or whoever the mastermind is). Would make sense to keep the organisation as an actual force for good with maybe with Ramiel as the leader (and would be dioable keeping all the other pieces in play, maybe with a slight change to a few missions)

Its a possibility at least.

I will point out that the Shivans are described as scouts for whoever's going to be attacking. Also, in Twilight's Son's task, the McGuffin you retrieve from the Rikti is some manner of astronomical data. I hope I don't need to tell you that Shivans are from space, being born from Meteorite fragments and all and astronomy is the study of the stars. So these two tasks are clearly connected.

I'm not sure how the 5th Column base intel and the events of your tutorial mission being changed fit in though.

Just because two things happen to come from space, doesn't mean they are connected.

They might well be, but i think theres enough haziness in the story (particularly with the letter writters warnings) to at least cast doubt on what is really going on.

I'm really not looking forward to a zone with graphics like this. COH runs on one of the most poorly optimized graphical engines I've ever seen -- COV zones still make my framerate drop like a brick, and I bought a $2000+ i7 Sandy Bridge computer only four months ago. I don't think it'd be a good idea to throw new F2P players straight into a zone that will cripple their machines.

Fun fact: COH, without even any ultra mode settings on, but with stuff like world detail, character detail, and particle count maxed, runs worse than Crysis does on above-maximum settings (tweaked higher through console) on my computer. About the only thing that runs worse than that I've encountered is the trainwreck port of GTAIV.

I would like for you to come to my defense every time some hosehead tells me to "just buy a better computer, loser!" when I mention the lag in the Incarnate Trials and RWZ raids and ITFs.

Forget the new screenshots. Look at the info in that PCGame article:

Speaking about new items and costume pieces Brand Manager Hosun Lee said: “One of the most popular items is going to be something called an enhancement unslotter. Right now when you do a respect in City of Heroes you have to do the entire character, you can’t do one power at a time, we’re going to give players the ability to basically do respecs a la carte. We’re also granting players new costume parts. It’s got some great features players have been asking for once again such as glowing energy wings to make you look more angelic, you can leave a trail of fire behind you when you’re running, things like that. As well as other consumables such as double xp boosts, ability summons, temporary pets and a lot more than that.”

Anyone else think that Shivian Goo is the same as Hamidon Goo? I mean, there's references to Hamidon existing in a "one foot in our world" state, and also in a rift... portal... thing. It isn't very clear. But isn't it possible that they'll pull the "not aliens, other dimension" scheme again? The civilization that sent the Shivians was destroyed by an aspect of Hamidon? It's not hard to conceive given what almost happened to Praetorian Earth. Shivians being made of Hamidon Goo and laying seeds from the meteors to build up strength for a new form of Hamidon attack actually makes sense. "Our" Hamidon might be weak, but there's no reason to think that any other version is too.

That, or it's Nemesis. Either way, really.

What's funny is that what I said wouldn't even the right defense for that. Even with a quantum supercomputer from space that can keep this game above 60 FPS at all times with reasonable graphics settings, the actual lag (as opposed to frame rate loss) is server-side and cannot be alleviated by your computer specs at all. So if anyone needs to buy a better computer for high latency and packet loss issues, it's NCSoft.

Not that the typical frame rate is anything near acceptable in any of those activities, though.

Also with the possibility that the giant tree in Bloody Bay is somehow "soaking" up the energy or "goo" of the meteor/shivans.

Other than these and the official pics on the new Overview page, has anyone else uncovered screenshots from other gaming news sites? I'm hoping to get as many as possible for my vids.

By the way, does anyone else think it sounds interesting that on the Underground Trial it says that we actually team up with Desdemona to fight the loyalists and the DE?
Does that mean that she's become an Incarnate in the time since GR came out, in a similar way to Fusionette making progress between her first appearance in Faultline and her later appearances in the RWZ?
Maybe Desdemona will be providing info updates as we go along instead of the captions from Prometheus?

They also said straight up that it's a giant Shivan on one of the Ustream chats.
