Viable future expansion packs

With the recent announcement of the Steampunk Pack and someone necro'ing the Anime/Manga Pack suggestion thread I thought I'd create a thread where we could discuss a potential Anime Pack or other themed packs

I'm not sure what untrademarked anime looks could go into such a pack other than anime faces, raised/spikey hair, oversized weapons(action/combat sandals?) but I think it should include extensive list of martial artsy animations for all existing melee powersets and I know what the pack's power should be, and that's a PBAOE buff based on Shonen staples like "The Power Up" and "The Power of Friendship"

Call it Nakama!
Nakama! can only effect self and teammates including your pet's and their pets. The more teammates boosted by Nakama the weaker the indvidual buff is but the net buff is far greater with more receivig it then less. Does not stack from multiple casters.

Nakama should heal a little dmg, restore a little endurance, reduce endurance cost, increase the damage, the resistance and max hp of all effected

5 minute recharge ignores all buffs

Seriously though, it keeps bugging me how people think anime has a single, unified appearance aesthetics outside a vaguely defined art style.
Most shonen villains have a crew, various dragons and often a quirky miniboss squad examples include The 8 fists, The Noah Clan, The Homunculous, Onten 7, Jupongatana, Gung Ho Guns, Tenchu, Ginyu Squad, Dark Warlords, Espada, Akatsuki, each awakened faction, the reformed band of the hawk(seinen I know) and many more but even for the loner types the power does grant a stronger individual buff the fewer toons there are to get buffed but perhaps instead of calling it Nakama! it could be called Refuge in Audacity! or Beyond the Impossible! "Mine's is the drill that will pierce the heavens!"

I'm still waiting for my American Patriot costume pieces/set:

- Patriot Hat ( tri-cornered )
- USA Flag Cape
- Star Spangled Bracelets and Belt
- Stars and/or Stripes Patterns beyond the limited selection the game currently has. ( especially for shorts, skirts, and pants )
- Liberty Bell and Star shaped shields
- Patriot Emote - renders a semi-transparent American Flag waving behind you while you salute
- Drummer emote
- Fifer emote
- Star patterned chest pieces
etc.

I'd back a Patriot pack before an anime pack. Anime is an art style, not a unified theme. There's anime about super science, there's anime about magical cat girls, there's anime about giant robots, there's anime about everything that has been included in all of the other packs so far. CoX's art style is not anime (or I likely wouldn't be playing as I don't particularly care for anime art). And I'm not saying no to anime because I don't like that style. I just feel that a costume pack shouldn't change the art style of the game. I wouldn't want a cel-shaded pack, or an impressionist pack, or any other type of art style pack.

Back to the American Patriot pack. I doubt that it would be in Paragon Studios' best interest to produce such a pack. The game is global and they would only be tapping part of their playerbase with an American Patriot pack. I do really want to see a proper tri-corner hat in game though. But yeah... I think a "generic" Patriot Pack could work, although it might not really have enough in it. We've already got most of the iconic images used on many countries' flags available to us as chest details, but perhaps the pack could expand on that, adding in some specific ones that aren't there yet and adding options in the form of patterns for tights and such. A flag-cape for each country of the world would be nice, as well as a flag waving emote for each flag. Not sure what kind of temp power would fit with it though. Only idea coming to me is something called National Pride, but no idea what to have it do.

Personally, I think a good idea for future booster packs could be styles of the decades. Flapper dresses from the 20's. Zoot suits from the 40's. Poodle skirts and greaser gear from the 50's. Tie dye and sandals and hippy gear from the 60's. Leisure suits and crazy disco outfits from the 70's. Big hair and acid-washed jeans from the 80's. Maybe avoid the 90's since 90's fashion sucked. Could easier muster up enough costume pieces to form a pack from each decade of the 20th century. Or maybe just make it a 20th Century Retro pack and include a smattering from each decade in it.

Considering the majority of customers are probably American, I think it would sell pretty well. Although your idea of a multinational patriot pack is interesting, I wouldnt be interested in purchasing it.

We've had oriental pieces out the wazoo since the games inception. Be nice to have something added with a little American flavor for once.

A Crime Noir Cops/Mobster/Consulting detective pack? Mainly to score another trenchcoat some nice longer skirts. One that is more classic or even rumpled detective, less Matrix I'm so cool. Cigarettes (not that I condone smoking) for all 3 body types and a fancy cig in a holder for the fem fatale look... and to make up for not getting the big fat cig for the ladies. Deerstalker and tweed cloaks for all. Detective-ish emotes like peering around with a magnifyin' glass. Baton/Nightstick/blackjack twirling emotes like some of the npc's do. Suspenders and holsters like some npc's get. Actual PPD uniforms (both realities) Including the Preatorian "Inquisitor" class shoulders. Paragon PPD pants stripes by the way... must have. ';p I dunno I like them.

Oh yes and a shotgun that looks like a shotgun that you don't have to farm bank arms deals and cross your fingers to get. ;p Really... It's America... in the game. Don't you all have a shotgun? Kidding!

Why not some European love? I'd like to have more Union Jack stuff (Or, although its unlikely, St George's cross stuff. I guess it's practically illegal to be English these days -_-)

Heck, the list is endless;

Medieval Pack
Ruined Future Pack (Lost mobs-esque, Fallout, etc)
Everyday Pack (More casuals stuff)

Oh, and how about free items from time to time? Or is that a huge no-no these days?

Classic scifi pack with rayguns, fishbowl helmet, Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon style gear would be awesome. Perhaps something Forbidden planet style robot costume.

Prunejuice is warriors drink.

How about all the fins in the full mask Detail 1 list for all our helmets like the blast bot and retro helmets under the helmet list. They should also make the valkurie set wings available for those helmets.

How about placing receivers and ear pieces under 'ears' along with vampire ears, elven ears, etc. instead of in with goggles, horns, and tiaras.

Come to think of it they should probably rearrange things into logical positions
Things on top of the head, things on the side of the head, ears and things over them, things on the eyes, things on the chin.

I think a Native American Set would be nice. It would probably be appropriate to include Aztec and Inca dress: linen clothing, Inca head gear, Aztec Eagle and Jaguar knight costumes, etc.

1. Hair with braids and feathers (including traditional mohawks and scalplocks)

2. Head gear: headband with feathers, porcupine quills, great warbonnet, medicine hat with buffalo horns or antlers.

3. Upper body: deerskin shirt, bone breastplate, vest, armbands, Apache shirt, concho belts

4. Lower body: Loincloth, leggings, mocasins, Apache boots, deerskin skirt, linen kilt.

5. Warpaint: stripes, spots, handprints, half face, split face, etc.

6. Weapons: tomahawk, drop point hunting knife, obsidian dagger, maquahuitl, chimalli (shield)

Perhaps as a additional power with the set players would get an atatl or throwing spear.

A polearm pack.

Adds the Staff (smashing), Polearm (smashing + lethal) and Ghost Scythe (negative/lethal) powersets and power customization for various blast and control sets that let them use a staff.

Oh, also some staff fiddling emotes.

What shall claim a Sky Kings' Ransom?

I'd hope for this as more general powerset proliferation/powerset customization than anything, but yes.

I also wouldnt mind an American Western themed pack.

More cowboy hats.
A Sombrero.
Buckskin clothes.
Leather Tassells ( on pants, shirts, etc. - similar to what is currently on a short cape )
Western Chest Emblems ( Coyote, Wolf, Mustang, Bullet, Pistol, Cactus, etc. )
More cowboy boots that dont look quite as silly as the current cowboy boots.
A Western Cloggin' Dance emote.
A "Twirl the Lasso" emote.

Combine this with the above suggested American Indian costume pieces, it would be a nice thematic set.

I remember reading in the old forums a while back that Country Flags are not allowable due to some law or some such (esp in America).

I have no idea who/when this was stipulated as it was back when I first started playing.

But even if that wasnt an issue they cant release a "CountryA" pack unless they also plan to release at the same time "CountryB-Z" packs.
You said you want more "american flavour" - well I cant change my "distance to target" from the antiquated Miles to the logical Kilometres.
The game is SET in America and uses Amercian spellings.

Statesman wears as close to the American flag as you can get (without breaching whatever that legal reason was) - even his NAME referes to the United States.

Im not having a go at America or that the game is set in America but ppl saying there is not enough American content may want to take a step back and have another look.

Im pretty sure the term "statesman" isnt exclusive to the US...

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

OK I can see that.
To me however it seems more of a reference to "The States" - a term used by many to mean the USA (aka - im going on a holiday to the States).

But that is how I hear the term and Im sure others will differ - we are individuals after all.

While it can be open to interpretation, Most Americans dont refer to themselves as "from the states" We just call ourselves Americans. So states-man wouldnt make sense in that context to most people living in Paragon.

You could have left out the jab about measurements of distance. It's not like the U.S. is the only Western country whose people think in traditional measurements, y'know.

I dunno about you, CommunistPenguin, but I'm American and I use "the States" to refer to the United States from time to time, and I hear it used with some frequency by other Americans, too. It's a pretty commonly understood expression referring to the U.S., anyway.

Besides, as a patriotic "Captain Nationality" type guy, we all know Statesman is a homage to certain heroes. City of Heroes is a celebration of everything about the superhero genre, so it's pretty obvious.

Anyway, I'm probably contributing to the derailment this thread by replying to both of you, so to put this back on track:

Something like this, I'd love to see. Probably call it the "Wild West" pack or "Frontier" pack to avoid confusion with a pack meant for patriotism stuff.

The suggestions by Cptn_Courageous are a good idea, too, as are zachary_EU's ideas. A Raygun Gothic pack would be awesome.

As an aside, I hope more released content uses the normal mapping technique they've used for the Steampunk Pack faces. It really makes a difference!
