He showed up (lol) at the Ustream live chat so... He is still with us.
Devs said months ago he was overwhelmed with work, but the Steampunk is all made by Cheryl and her team, and Animal pack heads were made also for another art dev...
So I dont have a clue of what could be Sexy Jay working on...
Backpacks? Also for weapons so we can actually wear things like quivers for archers?
Upgrading the old low-res pieces?
Animated hair?
Time will tell... But for now, gimmie Steampunk pack!
spiffy, i'm not done torturing that young man yet with my incessant suggestions.

I always like steampunk when carefully used. Looking forward to the release.

The costume pieces are pretty flexible in how you can use them. I'm very happy with what I got to play around with!

This pack is cool, but disappointing at the same time. Turns out the new face tech is just giving each gender two new, higher definition faces which are kinda creepy and still emotionless. And although a lot of these costume pieces are cool, it's upsetting just how much of them you can't color.

The biggest example is the assault rifle, which you can only color the handle of. Everything else is stuck brown and gold. Also not a fan of being unable to color the backpack white or gray. It just makes it look like it has a brown rust. And with the hats, you can't color your hair. Just the hat. Also not a fan of only women getting belts and only men getting coats.

Overall, kinda disappointed, but I'm sure people will love it regardless.

Isn't that the general color scheme of the Steampunk Genre? Various shades of copper, leather, and Iron.

Perhaps, but what really sets a pack apart for some (including me) is its ability to apply to multiple character concepts. Versatility is key. Overall I'm seeing a lot in this pack that will work for non-steampunk characters, but a limited color selection cuts down that number from what it could potentially be.

Well, there's nothing stopping me from making pink ninjas or purple witches or blue science goggles or red lion heads or whatever. Limited color options is a check in the liability column, plain and simple. The pack still looks great and I'm looking forward to playing with it tonight on Test but I won't lie and say it won't suffer from limited coloring options.

Well, that will probably happen but, I, for one, am thinking how to use these parts, auras and gadgets for characters of a decidedly un-steampunk nature. Don't know how yet but, once in the editor, I'm sure something will come to me.

Limiting the costume options is nothing new. Baron coat for men, bolero for women. Long coat for men, bustiers and bustles for women.

That's the way Jack did it. That's the way NCSoft does it. And it's worked out pretty...errr... Wait...

Ok so the pieces are awesome! Just beautiful! But I swear I want to know which dev makes this same decision every freaking time. This belt can't be worn with jackets... This chest piece can't be worn with robes...

Who makes these decisions that limited is better?

And the best reponse we get from outcry is that they don't want people to make truly ridiculous toons.

Really?

Like they don't anyways in spite of your attempts at limitation?

I was just thinking the other day about how rarely I see anyone with a cat or bird head. I sometimes see a wolf and see bull heads most often but seeing any is a pretty uncommon event.

I thought the dev response for the inability to combine costume parts was graphical clipping issues.

Considering new costume pieces have clipped within themselves, such as the Warrior or Gladiator shoulder parts, I don't think that argument works so well any more, either.

I did a trial the other night with two cat-man characters. (There was also a really poorly-done werewolf using some of the CoV pieces--I say poorly-done because there were better free options available than what he was using, but to each their own.)

I haven't used the new animal parts on many characters, though... mainly just a concept character named "Falcon Paunch" (fat boxing bird) that I haven't even gotten though the tutorial yet. However, I DO use Beast Run as my Praetorian Alp character's main mode of travel. I also very nearly changed a costume to use the flat beast feet from a recent update for a barefoot character, but they came out looking a little too hobbit-y for what I was going for.

OMG that is awesome. Be sure to check out the Victorian-era DC and Marvel pages. The steampunk Iron Man is a work of art.

The Old West Star Wars line is pretty amusing too. What a fascinating hobby. I wish I had that kind of free time, lol.

I am actually working on a MA arc with characters based on those designs. It's been put on hold for awhile but now with the new pack coming out. I just might have to dust it off.

That long, divided skirt IS made of win, no two ways about it.

Really like the female pieces. The male pants are also pretty useful, both versions. New faces! We cant have too many of those!

Looking forward to using some of this stuff on my Carnie/Freak Brute. She will look beyond awesome.
