I look at tier 4s as a goal measured in months and for some characters likely longer. I am content with tier 3s. Each character I have will likely run 3 or 4 trials a month for the long term, some less, some more. I have one character who got lucky and has all tier 4s, and it really is not noticeably better than when I had tier 3s. As time progresses, we will also get more trials (so more Emp Merit chances) and other ways to gain incarnate stuffs. Eventually I will be able to craft Very Rare components, if I ever care enough to bother.

Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
My new plan with 50s is this:
1) Get Alpha to T3.
2) Open the other incarnate slots.
3) Get Destiny and Lore to T3.
4) If I have a Very Rare, I'll get whatever slot would matter most on that particular toon to T4.
5) Move on.
I figure the T4s are long-term. If they happen, great, if not, that's cool because that toon has everything it NEEDS.

As far as the i20 content is concerned you really only "need" the very rare destiny buff that is perma eff everything else imo and 30 emp merits(never convert to threads!) aren't that hard to amass.
Hell now that I have everything rare, barrier core very rare and musc almost very rare(just 2 more shards) I'm not even going to bother converting astrals to get everything else up to very rare, why bother?

Granted, I'm a scrapper with 3 aoes...well... 4 now.
And granted I was running 4-6 trials per night.

Your individual participation metric only counts for whether or not you qualify for a component roll or if you end up with the 10 thread "leecher/inactivity" prize.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. With getting components, according to how the devs state it works, you're participating enough to possibly get a very rare. I'm sorry you've been unlucky with the RNG. Be patient. Relax. Maybe you'll get a lucky drop soon. If not, focus on earning the e-merits, which is something you can control instead of relying only on the RNG.
I'm devoting an epically small amount of time to the post 50 rinse and repeat programming and i have to tell you i sleep wonderfully! Looking at the content as a marathon and not a race works for me...besides i had my incarnets back in the first few issues of the game...bring those back and i might add a few more hours a week to the plus 50 game

I purposely limit my iTrial participation to one of each iTrial per toon per night. So, in about 2 weeks, each one will be guaranteed at least one T4.
Probably before I can get them all to T4, a third iTrial should come online which I hope means 3 E-Merits a night.
My objection to the random tables is that the lucky few short-circuit the slow-and-steady route which is unfair to the unlucky.

Me, neither. Once Bill is done, I'm done with incarnate stuff. Then it's back to running solo with lowbies, deleting them, making new ones, repeat.

What he means is with all those non VRs you have, use the extensive upgrade, sidegrade, downgrade system the incarnate salvage has to make yourself some VRs... you don't need to wait on a VR drop if you're that unlucky.
Random is random. I had all my tier 4 but 1. Ran about 30 trials getting nothing but uncommon. Then bam I got 3 very rares in row. This was on a ss/fa brute doing baf last weekend. It is random but I still think aoes matter in my experience. not sure if it makes a difference but for me it seemed I got better drops after I moved the toon into slot 1 on the character select screen. Good luck keep trying they will come.

And like others have said, do the up/side/down grades to get what you need.

it does seem to be very random , Saturday 4 runs 3 uncomman 1 comman, Sunday 4 runs 1 uncomman 2 rares 1 vrare. Same character, with lots of AoEs.
All the drop rates in this game are borked. Then people who get the purples and very rares reply to threads like this saying "oh just get them with hero villian merits or emp merits". That is a silly response. I dont have an extra 100+mil infamy to spend on very rare merits nor do I have anywhere close the villian merits needed for a purple IO. Drop rates in this game are just bad. I feel your pain so I thought I would add a rant. That is all.
The primary toon I've spent on incarnates has a tier 3 Alpha, and tier 4 on everything else, I wouldn't describe myself as spending a lot of time in game.
1) In terms of tier 4's, I'd describe getting them, more easier and enjoyable than trying to get purple IO recipes.
2) To me the actual argument is, is a tier 4 in every incarnate slot for toon needed, not always, the toon mentioned above is a defense based toon who had some end management issues, which Cardiac solved, getting the tier 4 Cardiac for that toon really won't add that much to the toon.
I've received two purples since returning on the 10th. I found it very odd that they were both Unbreakable Constraint: Hold.
Anyone want to tell me the odds on that?

I've noticed a similar occurrence on BAFs, very specific Purples seem to drop regularly there (amongst the league).
I have been busting my butt trying to get these finished but its just not happening, I have to be doing something wrong. So far I have run 115 trials and have not received a single Super Rare.

I cant freaking take it anymore. lol. My brother has only run about 40 and has all 4 of his tier 4s completed and has an extra super rare.
