Getting Re-Acquainted With An Old Friend (CoX)

Imagine that I'm re-learning from scratch. What should I do? What would be good resources to go by? What additional items, programs and material should I be looking for? What outside sites and 3rd party programs should I look at? Which ones should I avoid?

In short, I'm thrusting myself back in to CoX. There were many aspects of CoX that I never really explored. Rather than go slowly back over everything, I was wondering if there were some good & handy guides (yeah, I know about the new in-game help thingy). I'm looking more for stuff that I can peruse online during breaks.

Basic combat and movement, I get. I have some impressive and not-so-impressive builds. One of which, though the build is cool the alt would no longer be using claws. I'd have to "re-roll" him completely. :/ Ah well.

I appreciate your guidance in advance.

Welcome back to the game Sylvanus.

As someone who also came back to the game from an extended break I can whole heartedly recommend the following resources:

And there are a ton more great resources out there including streaming internet radio, podcasts, and other Community groups. All you have to do is look for them .

Welcome back to the City and may your return be an extended one.

And definitely remember the correct name: ParagonWiki. If you go to Google and search "city of heroes wiki", the first few links are to wikia.com which is *BAD*. The site is NOT updated by this community, carries advertising for gold sellers and, worst of all, has been know to be infected with malware. It may be clean now, but a site screws up like that just ONCE and they're on my **** list forever.

If you're going to be sticking around, you'll want to buy the Going Rogue expansion. It adds A LOT. Notably:
- An entire new starting area, Praetorian Earth, in addition to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
- Incarnate content - a way to acquire new powers for your 50's.
- Alignment - the ability to switch sides, i.e. you can convert a Mastermind to a hero or a Blaster to a Villain. There are also 'in between' alignments (Rogue and Vigilante).

Most of the good ones are taken: Paragon Wiki, these forums, COH Titan data.

There is also Mids, a standalone program that lets you build your heroes off line. It's a great planning tool.

It may be a bit hard to use at work, as the interface is kind of game-like, and it would probably be obviously "not work related" if your boss saw it. But it is an off line tool, and a very decent one.

I don't think that's only in Soviet Russia.
