HOLY THREAD DERAIL BATMAN!
How we got here I'm not sure, and I'm not really sure what we're actually discussing; ED, GDN, pissing people off, or Invention Diversification.
I made an simple comment that Invention Diversification (originally stated by Samuel Tow) would piss people off.
That is all.
Thank you. -
Quote:From what I remember most of the ED and GDN changes suggested by players were very minimal compared to what we received.I remember that variations on ED and variations of the GDN were suggested by players long before they were implemented by the devs to address what were perceived at the time to be nearly fatal flaws in the game's PvE balance.
My reply wasn't that they weren't needed, I was alluding to the fact that the Devs did such a poor job at communication and pissed off the majority of the forum posters. -
Quote:Do you remember ED and GDN?...<snip>...where as a nerf to IOs would be a bad bad thing in the eyes of the majority of players.
You can't make all the people happy with every change, but you can attempt to piss the least amount of people off.
Player input means very little when the change is already in the works or according to the "master plan". -
Most of your points are covered here:

The link above has been around more than a year and pet AI has been broken long before that. -
The running away happened to me on BAF and LAM itrial last night.
On the BAF when Nightstar and Siege spawned they took off after them. Defense Passive command worked when Nightstar first appeared; however, I had to spam the command to get them to stay. Even then they ran around in spastic circles trying to decide if they wanted to listen.
Next, when Siege spawned they decided that following me was not in their plans and took off. Even spamming commands I couldn't get them to come back. Had to release and re-summon. So annoying.
Did a LAM after and they did the same thing with Marauder. If I had been outside when the cut-scene happened they probably would have knocked the Enriche out of his hand. -

It has been mentioned that purple SBE's will be a price point around 2000 per set. That might be a closer price point per islot unlock.
Disclaimer: All conjecture. -

Quote:There is a discussion where I had some questions about some power pool picks here:Im also seeing that Tough and Weave powers appearing all over the place. Are they actually necassary for a truly sustainable build? I've really liked having to take powers just to make you more rugged, just like I hated having to take the Fitness pool before it becmae inherant.
Im liking the Non tp builds!

Definitely build and play what you like; however, for a true min/max approach Tough and Weave will be very helpful for the "hard stuff".
I was like you in that it is disappointing to take them, but when the SHTF they are nice to have and they do work. -
Mez protection with a lot of Regen, yes Rooted is an absolute must for a stone tank to be a TANK. In a team environment, without rooted you will be mezed and defeated.
I am absolutely not telling you this to be mean, but if you are unhappy with the way stone tanks play, then use an alternate build for solo (as you mentioned) or perhaps try another set.
My run speed in rooted is about the same as a normal 'toon' without sprint so I can move around if necessary.
Granite with Rooted are dang near unkillable (+3 ITF: AV with mob support cannot defeat me; however, I can't defeat them either, but my team is safe.)
Just as RosaQuartz, I will come out of rooted when 'safe' but most of the time I'm protected.
My build now out of Granite:
S/L Defense: 51%
F/C Defense: 11%
E/N Defense: 42%
Psionic Defense: 52%
S/L Res: 30%
F/C Res: 37%
Regen: 455%
Max HP: 3411
Run Speed with Rooted: 15 mph

Quote:Ok, thanks for the input.Earth Mastery is possibly the worst Tanker Ancillary pool for many sets. <snip>
So I'd go with the Fighting Pool.
Is the Soul Mastery with Darkest Night any good? Have you used it and did you like it?
I could see placing the toggle on a hard target to help with incoming damage and a pseudo defense increase with the -tohit.
Are you asking about the above numbers? If so then yes, that is Mid's level 50 slots on a level 41 build. The actual numbers in game are different at level 41 and are all the stone tank powers outside of Granite (Rock Armor, Crystal Armor, etc.). -
Im in a bit of a dilemma. I have a Stone/Stone tank thats made it to level 41 and now I need to pick an Ancillary / Epic pool or I could continue with the regular pools and go with Fighting for some Tough and Weave.
Due to my play style, in order of preference, Im looking at:- Earth (Concept)
- Fighting (Tough & Weave)
- Soul Mastery (Gloom and Darkest Night)
- Energy (Physical Perfection)
- Pyre (Damage)
According to my level 50 plan (without the above pools), Im going to run out of Granite with:- 43.2% smash/lethal defense
- 31.4% energy/negative defense
- 42.9% psionic defense
- 35.1% fire/cold resistance
Do I need more defense/resistance or should I go with more damage/defuff?
I wanted to ask what other Stoners were picking up in the late game and on into the Incarnate. Are you trying to mitigate damage or create it? -
I so miss the old character creator music.
Look for the UI with the hit location target graphic around 1:10.
And the flip before she takes off flying, so cool. Yes, I know it's in ninja run now.
Back in 2004 it was so "new" that you could customize the 'toon' to look so different from everyone else. It really was innovative, at least from what I had seen from the other MMOs at the time. -
My secondary is Force Field so once I bubbled my bots I'm pretty much done. I like the rifle attacks better than the force field attacks and I can get the mobs attention well enough with photon grenade instead of using provoke.
As for Nemesis and Blackwand, they aren't always available (iTrials).
Oh and, PEW! PEW! PEW! LAZERS! -
My memory fails me more often nowadays; however, I remember that speed boost (kinetics) speed up the attack of the fire monkeys. Since they only have one attack it really didn't cause any AI issues.
Again from memory, mastermind pets from the beginning were never affected by speed boost?
Did they change all pets recentely to not receive speed boost recharge? -
Quote:And they work like the original recharge enhancements; they enhance the recharge of the pet summon not the recharge of the pet's powers. Way back when, it was always about not having one enhancement work different than the others in the same power. But purples and the super booster ATOs include recharge anyway.
As for why they made the purples and the ATOs work that way, I have no idea. Design philosophy change perhaps? -
From what I can remember, when masterminds were in beta or soon after release you could slot recharge enhancements into all the pets; however, all the other enhancements that could be slotted into the pets (accuracy, damage, etc.) would affect the pet not the pet power. The recharge enhancements would only affect the actual power recharge not the pet's power's recharge.
Again from memory, Positron said they couldn't change how the recharge enhancements worked and decided to avoid confusion and disallow slotting of recharge in mastermind pet powers. -
Could this command be used in a macro or popmenu? I could see this being real useful for sending inspirations to email for storage on a long TF or Trial. If you figure it out, be sure to post back on what you learned.

Quote:Because I need something to do while my Bots rampage and massacre things.2. Why are you people using Pulse Rifle attacks as a mastermind?
As an aside: Sometimes I fell bad for the Crey Scientist who came to work Monday morning and went to the break room to get his coffee and chat up the cute secretary, then make his way back to his lab station only to turn the corner and have SRMs blow him away. -
Nipples and 'Camel Toe' on the female toons.
