/Fire Scrapper or Brute

Either going to make a Kinetic or Dark/Fire Scrapper or Brute. I'm leaning towards Brute for higher HP/res cap, and I figure my fury bar will be ~60% or more most of the time anyway. Is there any definite proof so I can make my decision?

Kinetics suits Scrappers better, due to the damage buffs and critting Concentrated Strike, Fire suits Brutes better due to having a Taunt in Blazing Aura, higher HP and Resistance cap and the way Fiery Embrace now adds an extra Fire damage effect to your powers, meaning it will also be buffed by Fury. Fury also affects Blazing Aura and the damage ticks of Burn.

And just for completion:
Dark Melee suits either pretty well.

Soul Drain will make your damage insane on a Scrapper due to higher base damage and the -ToHit/Touch of Fear will help shore up the difference in survivability of Scrap and Brute.

Siphon Life will heal a lot more on a Brute due to higher HP and with fury backing you up, Dark Consumption and Soul Drain can do quite a bit of damage vs the Scrap who'll probably focus on slotting for recharge rather than damage.

I'll agree with that. Kin/fire scrap will probably output retarded amounts of dmg vs the brute and the dark/fire brute will certainly outshine the scrap in survivability.

I'd say make both. They'll feel completely different.

The taunt in Blazing Aura for Brutes makes life a lot easier.

I have a /fire brute that is my main and I really like it. I wanted to try a dm/fire and figured it might work better on a scrapper. However I discovered that without the taunt in Blazing Aura, Burn still caused too much scatter, even after the fear was removed. I ended up dropping the scrapper and I have decided that if I want to play /fire I'm going to do it on a Brute or Tanker, unless they add a taunt to the scrapper Blazing Aura.

IMHO Fiery Aura is crap on Scrappers (I have a 50 Fiery Scrapper so I know first hand). No matter the primary you're going with, if you want Fiery Aura roll a Brute.

Kinetic Melee on a Brute is still one of the strongest sets available to Brutes. People say it's weak, but compared to any other primary, it more than holds its own.

The best comics are still 10�!

Thanks for all your replies guys, and I like the sound of making both! However I'll be looking to IO it/them out heavily so I might only be choosing one. I must say the Taunt in Blazing Aura is quite a big selling point for me.. but I also wanted to try Kin Melee. I guess it's also nice to know that I'm not really making a mistake if I did end up going Kin/Fire Brute anyway.

It's squishy even with Tough but I gotta tell ya, my fire/fire scrapper does such insane damage... and it all starts with Burn.

I am not saying this to brag, but last night my wife and I were on a MoBAF run where one team had less damage than mine, and I told our leader I was going over to help them catch up.

Well, I ended up doing that twice in the last phase because just my presence alone made us pass up the other team in less than a minute.

Granted, I have procs in every single attack, including armageddon and hecatomb, on top of having a tier 4 interface reactive radial, and yeah, I eat purples like mad but whoo boy the damage... Usually build up + burn destroys all whites but then add fsc into it and only nearly dead bosses are left.

Kinda silly that Burn only hits 5 targets though, but having procs go off once every 10 sec in blazing aura on top of every single tick with reactive radial adds a huge amount of damage over time.

Yeah, it's squishy, but I bet I can kill more stuff before I die before any other scrapper in the same time period. Look me up sometime on Virtue - I play FlintEastwood.

I went KM/FA Brute over scrapper. IMO Concentrated Strike on a Brute is better because Fury works on it, while Scraps can't damage-crit CS. With my a Spiritual slotted Alpha and a dose of recharge my Siphon Power recharges every 31 seconds, so missing an occasional crit recharge on power siphon is not all that big of a deal. Plus I get all the other Brute benefits on Fiery Aura, Burn and Healing Flames.

Hey guys, think I'm gonna make a KM/Fire Brute and then a DM/Fire Brute too if I don't love it. Thanks for all the help - it has been very useful. Any more is welcome too!

I think I'll post my KM/Fire build on the Brute forums and see what people think.
