Top primaries for ST damage?
I'm not sure on this but it should be
Dark Melee
Martial Arts
Energy Melee
I've been playing my Energy Melee recently and he seems to down them pretty quickly, to chime in with what some of the others are saying. I'm pretty sure he's faster at it than my DB stalker was, at least; part of that probably has to do with resistance to lethal that a lot of foes have.
I haven't played any other stalkers past, say, 15th however, so take this with a grain of salt.
The last time I ran numbers for it, which is before KM came out and is purely based on the best available chain and ignoring endurance sustainability and damage types, it was MA > EM > DM while solo, and MA > DM > EM with (iirc) 4+ people around. The more often you critical, the worse EM ranks.
KM doesn't have great DPA attacks - it has relatively short animations on the low damage attacks but the medium and heavy hitters are slow and/or don't critical - so I don't imagine that a sustained chain would be in those top three, but if I read the patch notes correctly being able to reliably bring BU back may bring it close overall and it still has a good PBAoE in Burst. For a "well-rounded" set it's a nice option, although for general PvE I still like ElM better.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Ninja Blade can deliver great DPS with the top attack chain and the right procs(purple and -res ones). However the lethal damage will be a hindrance at times, and the slow AS animation is a drawback as well.
Personally I would rather take something AoE centric like Elec or KM and just rely on AS and teammates for the hard targets.

Thanks all. I currently have nrg/, elec/, spines/ on different servers at different levels but was just curious about opinions on ST damage now with all the patches/nerfs etc that I don't keep up with. I want to revisit playing a Stalker again and without procs and IOs considerations etc...what are the hardest hitting ST primaries now?

While I haven't done Broadsword yet...here's a list of the best ST DPS chains I could find for all the sets. The numbers are all using 3 generic lvl 50 IOs worth of damage, and no procs.
So, Ninja Blade may move up the DPS list if one considers it can slot two different -Resist Procs as well as slot 2 Purple IO Procs, versus the other sets.
This also doesn't include getting an Assassin Strike off everytime you can pop Placate + AS. But in my experience, where DPS matters, that's not an easy feet and I tended to waste more END than anything, unless I Placated then waited, which defeats the whole purpose of the big attack for DPS. :/
If there's better DPS chains out there, I'd be glad to hear them, these were just the ones I could find/figure out.
Dual Blades is also another set that with it's DPS chain can slot 2 -resist procs. So, obviously it can move up the DPS list as well.
None of these DPS take into account the use of Build Up either. Though the only ones that should be a bit higher due to the use of Build Up, is Kinetic Melee and Claws (Insta recharge on CS crit, and lower Recharge on Claws).

Purple Procs and -Res procs throw off BrandX's list a bit if you use them; I'll try to calculate some later tonight.

Or at least when mentioning how Ninja Blade and Dual Blades can slot both -Resist and Two Purple Procs, though NB is already ahead of DB in DPS, however, DB has better AOE in it's chain.
Sadly, I just don't know how to account for that in the +DPS department.
My guess would be NB can pull ahead of the others in DPS on paper, but likely fall short with so much Lethal Resistance out there.
Dark Melee on the other hand has a lot of Negative Energy to go along with it's smashing damage, so has less to worry about when it comes to enemy resists.
Dual Blades is close enough to Kinetic Melee in DPS (at least with the chain I have used) that I figure it can bypass Kinetic Melee with Procs involved and stay ahead of it, but then KM does have Build Up use more often.
Claws for Stalkers sadly doesn't get the 2nd -Resist proc, as Eviserate isn't a Cone for stalkers. And Claws as a set seems built around Follow Up, which of course Stalker Claws lacks.
Though Siolfir seems to have run the numbers as well, and doesn't have Ninja Blade in the top 3, perhaps they didn't account for Procs either or maybe the Procs don't move up SB as much as I think it would.
Personally, my real problem with the sets (though I think Stalkers need a buff to damage) isn't their DPS, but that they've lost some of the cool attacks!
Dual Blades with no Typhoon's Edge?! I'd rather have TE than 1k Cuts! It's just that awesome of an animation to me!
Same with NB's lack of Lotus Drops and MA's lack of Dragon's Tail.
Energy Melee, I wish dropped Stun and had Whirling Hands instead, as I personally love WH's animation.
Basically, the AOE attacks are some of the fun animating ones!

Edit: Electric Melee can take a -res proc too

Actually, Electric Melee's chain gets really complicated, and even more so if you use the special trick with /nin, but that increases its dps dramatically.
With nin, it will end up being more like this:
Waterspout or Caltrops->BU->LR->AS->(Repeat CI->CB->JL->CB until others recharge) {Notice no placate}

K, putting in purple procs, applying the tohit clamp and the -res from procs, Ninja Blade comes out to ~172.3 dps, not including Buildup (that gets messier than I'd like at the moment).

Why would you use Assassin Strike, without being hidden? Is it's DPS that much better without the hidden status?
Does Caltrops really add that much to one's DPS?
LR I would think would eat the end, but if one can do the targeting fast, then yeah adding in LS when it recharged would be great DPS.

Right, except they serve a special function in the Electric Melee chain, so I can't. We could just pretend the damage they contribute does not exist if that helps.

It wouldn't be a regular part of the ST DPS string.
My list also just kept to what those Primaries could do amongst themselves. Adding in epic attacks is like assuming all Brutes will use Gloom for the OMGAWESOMESAUCE of it.

One could use LR, but that would vary from build to build, based on how much recharge one has in LR and in global set bonuses.

As for BU, I just add a flat 30% damage bonus.

Adding Gloom as a standard to Brute's top attack chains is fine by me. Adding stuff like Caltrops and Water Spout is where things get tricky as you have to calculate their recharge, duration, and effects properly.

Same as adding in Caltrops to Electric Melee, as it assumes everyone is /Nin.
Sticking to the Primary (even if adding IOs) is a good way to go "This is what to expect if you don't have a few of these *shows list* tricks to add to it"

While the regular part of your chain does something like ~128.5 dps with tohit clamp, purple procs, and -res proc, the bit with Lightning Rod and AS averages out to about 189 dps, not counting any damage done by Waterspout or Caltrops. That boosts your average dps by a lot or a little, depending on your recharge values.
By the way, Caltrops and Waterspout do generally good DPA if we were allowed to include them.

I'm not saying knowing them isn't bad. But it also assumes every combo of Brutes is going to take the Soul Mastery PPP.

Electric is special, because LR is a "pet" and does not break hide. This means you can run your regular chain (CI>CB>JL>CB) and insert (Caltrops>BU>LR>AS) and end up getting a fully "hidden" AS. Caltrops and WS are also pets, so they don't break hide, and Buildup also does not. By the time those things are finished activating you will be back in hide without having used placate. (Can't be hit for this to work, so it helps also that nin is defense based).

Caltrops>BU>LR seems like it would be less than 8 seconds time...or is it that's just enough time for you to be hidden while animating AS?

Quick question for the pros...what primaries are currently at the top reference ST damage? Thanks in advance.
