Server Designations
So, I'm poking around servers and trying to feel out that community. I was curious what the community had to say on this matter. Rather than spread my new "starter" toons around servers, I was going to try and dump them all on one.
I'm not looking for information on numbers so much as I am the general "feeling" of the community. I know Freedom and Virtue have the highest numbers and I was inclined to go with one of them, but I keep seeing triple red dots wen I log on and it worries me a little. This is as far as I've gotten: Freedom: The BIGGEST server Virtue: Unofficial RP server I think someone also mentioned that Pinnacle was the "Drunk" server and I wanted some more information on what this meant as well, because that just sounds awesome. Right now, I'm inclined to dump some toons on Virtue because, while I don't RP, I do like my characters to "make sense" within the CoX universe and Virtue seems to be the place where I would find characters with a higher degree of seriousness, making the game a tad more immersive. |
Freedom and virtue are there when you want to be around a lot of players, however with that many people, the quality of player can be hit or miss. While each server of course has great players, Pinnacle, champion, and guardian would probably be the next big three in terms of quality. someone said there was a server called protector or something, not sure if that's true.

Champion tends to have smaller populations of the "middle group" of server populations. Not too high but not too low either.
It's got a solid core of knowledgable players who run great events. BMT has some offically running each day, and unofficially there are many more TF, Trials, Tips and other teams started on its global channels.
It's know as the mead and pie server to some. And it's known as the drama server to others. It gets a thumbs up from me.
There is a good summation of the servers here...

I think some of it is out of date. But most seems pretty spot on. Also, BEFORE you move your folks anywhere, go there and play a bit at peak times first. Virtue has some HARD CORE RP'rs out there. I went there once and swore never again! I was skeered a bit. Ok, a LOT!

And a goatload of others. On a goatload of servers.

It also has quite a few 'powergamers,' but of the pleasant variety, (In most cases) as well as plenty of badge hunters. There are regularly scheduled events around, for hamidon raids, mothership raids, and task forces. It's also very blue-leaning.
Pinnacle is called that because it used to come up last after maintenance, so people joked that it was hungover. Plus most of the late night players (and some daytime players) are known to be wasted from time to time, as i'm sure a lot of other folks on others servers are.

Ironically, I'm still a Pinnacle native and almost never drink anymore....

I have to vote for Victory, lot of nice people there.

So you might want to keep a couple characters on other servers so you can still play during unexpected server crashes.
I guess Ill step in a give a shoot out for my home server of infinity. As I understand it its the highest population server of what is called the midlevel servers, lower then Freedumb (Freedom) and Land of Virtual cat girls (Virtue) but sill a nice high population that insures a team just about any time of day.
Personally I find Infinity to be by far the friendliest most adult server, by adult I mean maturity of ones actions and behavior in a community.

No mention of Jerk Hackers dupin' rares for the Justice Server?!? Inconceivable!!
That said, Justice likes to flirt with being the 3rd most populated and is full of the most unique kind of crazy you'll ever find online. Lots of fun and new-player friendly

Always see Infinity as being just behind Virtue and Freedom in server load.
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

I know nothing of these "pants" of which you speak.
Justice seems to be the server to go to if you want to do super teams.
Freedom is NYC warts and all.
Virtue is a more sane depending on how you view RPing and how much you seek it out, but not that much of a drop off in numbers. I have seen Virtue be red while Freedom is yellow.
Freedom is my main server, but I spend most of my time on Virtue, or Victory these days.
